An old issue. Both Coke and Pepsi were caught filling bottles from the tap. As per a RD article, in 2007, 49 billion litres of bottled water were sold worldwide. Some tests found bacteria or chemicals, including carcinogens, in samples of 1 in 3 brands. The plastic containers contributed to some of this contamination. It took an additional 273 billion litres of water just to to the containers – from petroleum. It took more petroleum and pollution to transport this heavy product, often across vast distances.

We need to evaluate marketing swill, including the behaviour of foreigners on paid trips. Tap water is usually adequate. At the most, just allow the water to settle, or also boil it. Are you terrified of the rust in piped water? Why?

The need for bottled water came about because our piped water is just too dirty.

In developed nation like Japan, Korea, S'pore and some place in Taiwan, we can drink directly from the tap water.

There may be chlorine smell but at least it is safe for drinking. In Malaysia, we are conned by those who have sold us out to those pirates that took over the water as their source of regulated business and milked billions out of that industry.

One way to cut cost and save on water is to have an underground pool for retaining rain water. This can be used for toilets, car wash, gardening and even for recycling to cool the roof.

The architect for new housing industry may have to rethink about their design and look into this GREEN source of life,...i.e water.
