One of the country's top public schools is to develop a new school in Malaysia.
Marlborough College in Wiltshire is to set up the coeducational boarding school in Iskandar Malaysia, a new city being built in the state of Johor.
Marlborough College Malaysia is to have 423 children in its prep school and 915 pupils in its senior school.
Nicholas Sampson, Marlborough's master, said: "The new school will be based on the British model, but it will have a very international feel to it."
'Cultural crossroads'
The school should be open by 2012 in Iskandar Malaysia, which is being developed in the south of Malay peninsula. Marlborough College expects the new establishment to open by 2012
The project is a joint venture between Marlborough and Malaysian governmental agencies.
Mr Sampson, whose job title is master rather than headmaster, added: "It's a great spot.
"Malaysia has got a tremendous history of being a cultural crossroads.
"This is a statement of intent about our place in the world. We want to be able to speak to the world."
Marlborough was founded in 1843. It charges annual fees of £28,245 for boarding pupils.
RECENT developments in the judiciary has left an awful taste. Has this 1 Malaysia thing gone too far? Whose creation is it? Najib or Patai, or both? It is unacceptable when one man has just got to say it and the rakyat are expected to lap it up or lump it! The Royal Commission on the Lingam tapes declared:
1. The video clip was authentic;
2. Lingam was in conversation with Ahmad Fairuz over judicial appointments;
3. There was direct influence by Lingam in the elevation of judges, in particular in the appointment of Ahmad Fairuz as president of the Court of Appeal, with the possible aim of his further appointment as chief justice; and;
4. Lingam had asked tycoon Tan Sri Vincent Tan and Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor to involve themselves actively in the appointment of judges, in particular the appointment of Ahmad Fairuz as the Chief Judge of Malaya and subsequently, president of the Court of Appeal.
The commission identified six people to be investigated under the Prevention of Corruption Act 1961, the Sedition Act 1961, the Legal Profession Act 1976, the Official Secrets Act 1972 and the Penal Code.
They are former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, Lingam, Tan, Umno secretarygeneral Tengku Adnan, Eusoff Chin and Ahmad Fairuz.
And like the omnipotent trinity that they definitely are not, the AG Patai, Najib and Naxri rubbished off months of work by the commission, whose members have till now have not volunteered a whimper of dissent.
And this is just one instance where one man, in this case, the AG has stamped NFA! And believe me there are more to come. It really has become incomprehensible that some men on the bench have morphed into impotent retarded tadpoles.
BE READY FOR THE CONTINUED BASTARDIZATION OF THE JUDICIARY, THAT IS IF WE THE RAKYAT ALLOWS IT.
YOU have to take sides. Sitting on the fence, with both legs on each side of the fence can be painful. Today I was quite pleased when I read that the PM was determined to address the blatant corruption exposed by the Auditor General's report. I wanted to go out to do a spot of fishing with my buddies until I read further........no I am doing no fishing tonight. No mood.....after reading this:
"We will use the law against those found to be involved in irregularities but if there are cases which we cannot take to court, we will use administrative action like a demotion or a transfer," said the prime minister.
and
The task force headed by the chief secretary to the government Mohd Sidek Hassan would also include Finance Ministry secretary-general Wan Abdul Aziz Wan Abdullah, Public Service Department director-general Ismail Adam and auditor-general Ambrin Buang himself.
and then the bomb-shell......
They would have the power to rope in attorney-general Abdul Gani Patail and the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission if the need arose.
Today 30 October Pakartan Rakyat has finally disposed of the sewage and UMNO is a garbage collection outfit.
Khir Toyo, the COO-mandor of UMNO Garbage Collection has welcomed PKR discard Badrul Hisham and
“ we will give him the opportunity to serve," as quoted by the Star Online.
CEO of UMNO Garbage Collection Berhad, Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak said it was not Khalid's prerogative to instruct Badrul to resign."The state assemblyperson can decide on his own. He may not want to resign," he said.
I thought the PM has more pressing duties doing damage control over his 1Malaysia Camp than to dirty his hands collecting garbage. I am sure the 1st woman will not like anyone saved from the landfill.
Congrats Menteri Besar Khalid. You did the right thing……finally. SAY NO TO DIRT!
I had settled down to some pre-brunch reading of Off the Edge's KESAMARATAAN - talking with PKR's bright young things about the messy business of Malaysian Egalitarianism, I was rudely distracted when an agitated kopitiam companion threw Joceline Tan column over my reading with: " Your b.**** at it again." I had decided early this morning (2:45am) would be dedicated to shaking off an iritating cold and do no blogging and do mare laps in the pool. I don't read the Star at all, but my companion was insistent and i did a uick perusal to appease her. I carried the Ipoh proceedings live and very much aware of the happenings. There goes my resolve not to blog today. She wrote:
Dr Zambry was unflappable and his team behaved with utmost decorum but it still takes two to tango in style.
When you have free passage into the assembly chambers what is so great about being unflappable......and of course Zambie and Gunar tangoed in style, but did not cause any arousal which normally follows a well executed tango. Here is a lambada treat just in case you are oblivious to this sensuous import from Brazil
She also wrote:
As for the Pakatan team, this is simply not the sort of behaviour expected of elected representatives.
You mean this?
Zambie's TEAM acted with decorum? No Jossy, don't try the lambada, it doesn't become you!
"It is also normal for the parents to say things like that when such incident occurs," he said.
(what would you say if it was your child?....better luck next time?)
"They should not say that a similar incident will happen at other places. However, the ministry will look into the incident as a lesson," he said.
( a lesson too late!)
Earlier, an emergency motion to debate the collapse of the newly-built suspension bridge across Sungai Kampar, Perak by Pakatan parliamentarians was rejected by speaker Pandikar Amin Mulia in chambers.
The reason for the rejection, Kiandee said, was because a committee has been formed to investigate the incident and Deputy Prime Minister and Education Minister Muhyiddin Yassin had taken a serious interest in the matter.
(which clown would not take a serious interest in this matter?)
12.37pm: Pakatan reps left the state secretariat building after telling journalists that it had passed three motions during its 'sitting':
1. That all national service camps and other outdoor programmes be suspended pending investigation of the Kampar tragedy;
2. (To recognise the findings of the 2008) Auditor-General's Report on Perak, during Pakatan's tenure; and
3. That PKR state chief Osman Abdul Rahman be appointed a senator.

He then spoke about the 2008 Auditor-General's Report, saying that his administration had done well (during its 1-month tenure in Perak). He recorded his thanks to the auditor-general and all governement departments.
10.55am: Police have chased about 80 supporters outside the building, to keep them behind the security tape. The supporters obloiged, but are taunting the cops, with some shouting: "1 Malaysia, 2 Perak, 3 Katak!"
Malaysiakini reported:
10.20am: Ganesan adjourned the sitting to 11.20am. 10.15am: Menteri Besar Zambry Abd Kadir began the budget speech. There is still no sign of opposition members.
PR YBs are finally let into the sitting. Police found no pen-knives on the Aduns. "Here comes the Speaker (referring to Siva" greeted the PR team. Somebody yelled in Tamil to Guna "Where is your sari". Guna is well protected by 20 jacketed bodyguards.

The last time I met Datuk Salehuddin Hashim was just the previous Tuesday after a capati lunch with Datuk Zaid. I have met him on various occasions, especially when RPK was in Kamunting. I found him to be the epitome of courtesy, He was a listener. But some who are too much of themselves usually do not listen. This would have frustrated the good Datuk. Of course this was not the first time Datuk Salehuddin wanted to throw in the towel. This time I believe it is for real. There goes another good man. And good men don't just give up. What's up then PKR?
On April 11, 2008, Din Welcomed Saleh with a blog posting (HERE) after he took over from Datuk Khalid Ibrahim who was then the Sec. Gen.
UPDATE: Whilst Datuk Salehuddin denies that he has resigned, sources in PKR say that they have seen the letter of resignation.
LAST week former MP of Subang KS Nijar promised Pete that he can arrange for him to come back to defend himself.(HERE) I thought Karnail Singh Nijar was pathetic and I sent him running along with an over-powering Punjabi curse word.
And yesterday, I read HERE and HERE that my friend Tan Sri Megat Najmuddin Khas also lent his voice to kind of entice RPK to come home, using the buddy-buddy MCKK comrade call. Who next? Najib or the First Woman?
The buddy-buddy call of an elder brother is ok, but asking how Pete could support himself overseas being a declared bankrupt has negated that buddy-buddy overture.
I never expected Megat to use that line. I have in the 70s partied with Megat when he was spouseless in Section 12 and was a partner with my late nephew Danny Teoh. I followed his meteoric rise and offered him my house for his last ceremah when he stood as my (UMNO) Adun in Kelana Jaya. Thence I could not catch up with his jetset-pace except when he urged me to have a last cuppa at Castell around 2am. I last congratulated him when he won the Presidency of the Subang Golf Club.
Yesterday, I was prepared to do a post on this but an ultimatum from Hantu II resulted in a deferment. But now that Pete has posted a reply HERE, my piece would be insignificant and obsolete.
Yes, Pete stay where you are but do warn us when you stray too far. Whilst you are in the Steppes of Ulaanbaator, Hantu advises you visit Terelj Hotel Cigar Lounge where you can exchange anecdotes with other cigar lovers from around the world in this quiet hideaway, or step out onto the balcony to take in the clear mountain air and majesty of the Terelj National Park. You would enjoy the rich, velvets and comfortable, dark furnishings, This Cigar Lounge kinda forces you to relax in elegance and timeless style. An endless selection of cognacs and whiskeys may even distract you from your two companions.
With slight editing, I produce here a comment by a reader from Sabah:
With all due respect sir, I understand that you, Haris and the rest of the Blue Blitz gang are champions of democracy. However, I think one must also balance that with a little of true Ketuanan Rakyat..not Ketuanan PKR Sabah Division Chiefs...perhaps you may say PKR's business is PKR's business, but Sabahans are only waiting for the opportunity to vote out Barisan with a strong viable opposition. We don't want it to be like in the mid 1980s when we jumped out of the frying pan into the fire by voting in PBS...
A sincere and honest piece of advice. Please understand Sabahans and Sabahan politics. Oftentimes and justly sometimes it is not entirely purely about democracy. Yes the division chiefs in PKR might be supporting Jeffrey...but no matter how much you argue the fact that any luminary politician is tainted, the majority of Sabahan Rakyat will never support this man...not only because of his tainted corrupted past...but because of his inability to lead...and his trouble making antics...
Is there no one else in PKR Sabah that can lead?? What about Christina Liew? Kong Hong Ming? Or even better some new blood??
In Sarawak you have a capable leader in Baru Bian, but Sabah is a different ballgame altogether. Anwar, PKR, PKR Sabah must thread very carefully. We are not like West Malaysians. Politicians here think differently and have different values systems.
Sabahans are waiting to vote BN out, that's for sure. Even in GE12 from analysis many Sabahans especially in the urban areas voted for the DAP-PKR However PR’s failure to win the seats was because PKR refused to strike a deal with the DAP, that is, for DAP to take the urban seats and PKR to tackle the semi-rural areas. .This resulted in split votes in at least 6-7 state seats, and 4-5 parliamentary seats..
If DAP can bring in new blood I don't see why PKR can't.make an effort. Sabahans will vote in young, educated professional and proactive leaders who fight for principles and humanity, in place of the old guard. Maybe Aladdin’s old lamp’s shelf-life has expired. Urban Sabahans think so. Try putting your ears to the ground and for once listen to us.
Following the humiliating Bagan Pinang defeat/debacle suffered by Pakatan Rakyat, the short answer to the question – Is PR losing steam? – is an insufferable YES.
Why? Because PR has yet to demonstrate that as a government, at least in Selangor state, it is different to BN. The verdict from Bagan Pinang’s voters was that they see no difference. So they vastly preferred a BN candidate tainted by corruption to a PR man unsullied by past misdeeds.
True, these are simplistic answers. But don’t say they are not having any effect on PR. Already the Tok Guru in Pas has reacted with a call for a division in his party between those who want to cavort with Umno and those to want to sink or swim with PR. A simple man has no need of complexities; he goes straight to the heart of the matter.
The verdict of Bagan Pinang’s voters is forcing clarity on Pas. Good thing that. Intra-mural conflict that issues in clarity of stance and certainty of action is welcome.
What effect has had Bagan Pinang on PKR? Judging from events of the last two weeks, the answer is: little or no effect. This is startling for three reasons.
One, PKR is not as ideological a party as Pas. So it should have the flexibility to react more quickly and rationally. Second, it is the lead party in the opposition coalition by dint of more MPs in Parliament, so it should get off its rear end and get going on corrective measures to take. And thirdly, Bagan Pinang suggests that in General Election 13, the voters in Sarawak and Sabah, who roundly spurned PR in GE12, are going to be immensely critical to the any aspiration PR has of taking Putrajaya; PR may gain some, lose some on the Peninsula, making how the vote goes in the Borneo states decisive to the overall outcome.
And what presently has PKR done to help the voters in the two states to shift allegiance from BN to PR?
It has chosen Baru Bian, a credible and reputable Native Customary Rights lawyer to lead PKR Sarawak. Capital decision that. Apart from a grouse or two from lesser lights in the party in Sarawak, Baru appears to be the popular choice that validates PR’s rallying cry of Ketuanan Rakyat (People’s Sovereignty).
However, to lead PKR Sabah, the party has behaved like BN tends to do: picked someone who will be their proxyand softened that blow by throwing in a sop -- setting up a council on integration headed by the very person who was recommended to them to lead the PKR’s Sabah chapter.
Talk about the people finding it difficult differentiating PKR from UMNO, you have here the classic example of how similar both parties are. A snake sheds its skin, that’s all. For the question of who should lead PKR Sabah, Ketuanan KL has tromboned Ketuanan Rakyat.
Mind you, 14 of the 21 properly constituted divisions of PKR Sabah (the remaining 4 divisions suffered irregularities in their constitutive process) had endorsed Jeffrey Kitingan for leadership of the state chapter. But PKR supremo Anwar Ibrahim doesn’t want Jeffrey.
The reason for Anwar’s dislike of the PKR vice president: Jeffrey has supposedly done serious wrongs in Sabah during the time Parti Bersatu Sabah were running the state between 1985 and 1994. This argument is only tenable if one could maintain that Anwar Ibrahim is not guilty of serious wrongs in Malaysia when he was an Umno luminary between 1982 and 1998, when he was booted out of government.
You could not say that. Hence if Jeffrey is what a majority of PKR Sabah want, Jeffrey it would have to be, not least because that would validate our rallying cry -- Ketuanan Rakyat.
This would not only be the common sense thing to do, it would also be the smart choice because as anyone who has been to the Borneo states knows — it is easier for PR to do well in Sabah than in Sarawak. Before Jeffrey put his shoulder to the PKR wheel in Sabah, the party there was weak. After he came in, the party gathered pace and momentum.
It’s difficult to find an estimable leader in Sabah who is without some skeletons in the closet. But that is the same thing you could say about any political luminary the country over.
If Anwar thinks that he has to balance a non-Muslim PKR supremo in Sarawak with a Muslim PKR No.1 in Sabah, he is showing he is captive to rather than transformative of neuroses prevalent on the peninsula, not necessarily in Sabah. He is showing that people in the Semangung are backward compared to Sabahans. Not a progressive thing, neither a forgivable move for a herald of change to be guilty of.
If he thinks that Sabah’s 50-50 population division between Muslims and non-Muslims mandates that PKR there should be led by a Muslim, he is saying that he wants to accept as a fait accompli the law-breaking infusion of people who were given instant citizenship in Sabah between the time of Tun Mustapha till now, an act of sanctioned illegitimacy, rivaling episodes of judicial misconduct in Malaysia from 1988 onwards. If he is unconcerned about the citizenship scam in Sabah, he is signaling that perhaps his conduct in the entire imbroglio is not above board.
Selective inquiry and prosecution of misdeeds is an untenable as selective blame-fixing. Like the adage about justice – it must not only be done but be seen to be done – the PR (in particular PKR) must not only be different to BN and but also seen to be so. Otherwise more Bagan Pinangs await the oppositin coalition.
A reader who calls himself big cat made this comment on a recent posting HERE:
big cat said...
what u really want is for all malay muslim leaders (BN or PR) to shut up and not try to defend their religion and race. only then that u and yr supporters be satisfied. meanwhile, non-malay muslim leaders can say and do whatever they want. say that la, easy for everyone to understand. no need trying to be subtle and hide behind freedom of speech, freedom of expression etc etc. if what i say here is not true, do tell me when had u ever criticised a non-malay muslim leaders (particularly from PR) for defending their race and religion.

I have been admonished for making reference to dogs as in "running dogs" as it insults this intelligent four-legged.
As such I who love dogs and cats will not ridicule CATS. Chances are the above who calls himself Big Cat may have made a typo error....it reads better as BIGCRAT......judging from the scavenging nature of his rant....minus the "n" it spells rat, no?
Evidently Big Rat is a recent visitor to this blog.....probably an assigned visitor. So Big Rat, I challenge you to read these two postings that I put up on 13 March 2008:
.....and Big Rat, this man of rare mettle still enjoy "fishing" with me. As for you I would not want to damage my fart chamber with your type....so go back to your hole and suck your tail!
.....and after you have satiated yourself sucking on your tail, don't be shy to go read what dontplaypuks commented in the previous posting
go carry on sucking....its your own dirty tail anway....
IN a recent post Bagan Pinang by-election posting, I said that Hassan Ali won the by-election for Isa Samad, HERE. That was because I had a roasting from some Chinese voters in PD. Tok Guru Nik Aziz knows how one cancer cell can kill and he is not taking any chances. He is calling for an EGM to rid PAS of some diagnosed cancer cells in body-PAS. He is taking no chances.
On the eve of Bagan Pinang Polling Day, I asked YB Jeff Ooi what is PR doing about shit-stirrers like Hassan Ali and Zul Nordin. He said that on consensus the three parties would not want to take any punitive action as these two might be deified as heroes. I left it at that.
Well, TGNA is determined to pull the plug. Will PKR do likewise. My personal assessment is that of the three parties, PKR seems to be unsure of what they want to do with this guy who on 14 October told the Malaysian Insider:
“I am still a PKR member. I am still occupying the seat under PKR in the Dewan Rakyat,” he told reporters in Parliament during the lunch break. He also denied speculations that he had been courted by Umno at any point.
“At this stage, not yet,” he remarked.
NOT YET?I did mention in an earlier post that PKR should SACK him. That way UMNO don't need to buy him and he would end up with no price.
I remember as a child, hearing this expression from the elders:Dont spoil them kids. They will climb on your head......if you spoil them rotten they will shit on your head.
Right now that is what Zul Nordin is doing and on PKR's collective heads! So how now?
And, just a friendly reminder to PKR, we voted you in because we were fed-up of UMNO/BN.......a reader KRIS ranted that he was fed-up......many of us, truth be told, are getting fed-up now with your INDECISION. Do take a hint from Tok Guru, can?
perisik-rakyat has a take on this fanatic too HERE.
WHEN the Election Commission announced the Nomination/Polling days for Bagan Pinang, my first posting was on Mafrel. I had asked them to have more bite. I did a second posting on them and did give them a small plus during the campaign...just a small plus. On the eve of Polling Day, during the Ceremah Perdana at the DAP Centre, I met Tuan Syed and was thrilled to hear from him personally that he would be the Chairman of Mafrel. Tuan Syed has been the tireless Chairman of GMI, the NO TO ISA movement. He has been involved in other movements and have always given his best. I know Mafrey will be in capable hands. After congratulating Tuan Syed, I met Malaysian Heart ( who is on my blogroll) and two readers and was thrilled that they had volunteered to do Mafrel Work the next morning. Below is the Malaysian Heart's first person narrative of Polling Day;
During the recently by-elections in Bagan Pinang, I had the privilege of volunteering as a MAFREL election observer. For someone whose only involvement with elections had been to vote once every 5 years, the experience was very enlightening and educational. Here is what happened:
Tan Sri Dr Koh Tsu Koon confirmed in Parliament today that the government had engaged Apco Worldwide, an international public affairs and media relations company, to boost its tattered and bruised image overseas.
It is rumored that the contract is worth some RM20 million
Yes RM20 million to improve PM Najib’s image is chicken feed when some USD1.2 million was paid to disgraced and convicted felon Jack Abramoff (a Jew, if you do not yet know) for Tun M to get an audience with US of A’s most despicable President Bush in 2002. ("It is true that somebody paid but it was not the (Malaysian) government," Mahathir said. "I understood some people paid a sum of money to lobbyists in America but I do not know who these people were and it was not the Malaysian government."} Ahem......
Why chickenfeed?
It is a gargantuan task for APCO which will include crisis management, issue management, government relations, media relations, coalition building, and opinion research. APCO will have a tough time influencing decision makers and shaping public opinion by crafting compelling messages to offset anti-1 Malaysia tirades.
Just to satisfy my belief that APCO does not know what they are getting into I would like them to name the government characters involved in the following WHO IS questions:
WHO IS
The Chief Editor of a mainstream Malay newspaper who had an affair with a young girl while his wife lay paralysed in bed?
The Chief Minister who eloped to Thailand to secretly marry his second wife?
The Federal Minister who was caught with a female artiste in a Port Dickson hotel room?
The Federal Minister whose brother was arrested for drug trafficking?
The Federal Minister who had an affair with someone else’s wife that eventually resulted in a broken marriage?
The Chief Minister who had an affair with someone else’s wife that eventually resulted in a broken marriage?
The Chief Minister who had an affair with an under-aged girl which resulted in an illegitimate child?
·The Chief Minister who had an affair with a girl who eventually gave birth to an illegitimate child?
The Chief Minister who kept an under-aged mistress at a condominium in Kuala Lumpur?
The religious leader who had an illicit affair and who is now holding a prominent position in a very important government religious body like the National Fatwa Council?
The Chief Minister who had an affair with his sister-in-law who have birth to an illegitimate child?
If APCO knows all the answers then they know what they are in for and if they do not know the answers they do not know what they are getting into! Probably there will be a package revision once they get wind of our Special Draws.
Good Luck APCO Worldwide.
Aside: These guys have the licence to wed 4, why are they having to go to hop, step and jump?
Answer: Either they are of the pussy-whipped breed (as in henpecked), or the forbidden apple is always much crunchier!
Don’t try to be be a sick sikh hero. We already have Karpal and Gobind and are very happy to have just two of them.
MIC (in death throes) Disciplinary Board Chairman, KS Nijhar (Karnail Singh Nijhar) in some futile attempt to get recognition from UMNO made a call to Raja Petra Kamaruddin to come out and face the defamation suits.
Karnail, either you do not know OR in your zealous attempt to apple-polish, refuse to know that in between his sedition trial and defamation suits, RPK was reliably informed by his top UMNO friends that they (KS's masters) were going to send him to Kamunting again for the third time. If SXI head-boy Karnail does not know this then he should look for another lamp-post to piss on.
“Having made many allegations, the truth should come out and be subjected to cross examination in court,” he generously advised. Cross-examined by a kangaroo court? You deserve a kick in the crotch for this piss-ass advice. Haven’t you heard that Lingam has already been exonerated and that Baginda is on scholarship although lately seen coming in and out of a posh condo along KL’s Jalan Pinang? You see Nijhar, in this 1 and only Malaysia, criminals rule the roost and the people’s heroes are hounded.
And who the fuck hell are you to “work with the courts or other authorities to come to an understanding to ensure his (RPK’s) safety.” That’s a pile of dung, excuse me!
“Even Chin Peng was able to attend talks with Prime Minister Tunku Abdul Rahman Putra and not worry about his safety”, he assured RPK. But those were different times with extraordinarily honest people like the Tengku, who wore HONOR on their sleeves. Can you say that today in one honest toxic-free breath? If you can’t then I, as an ex-Xaverian shall ask you to run along with “PUDEE DIAH”.

SHOULD SABAH AND SARAWAK SEEK AUTONOMY OR FULL INDEPENDENCE?
Written by gkm2020
Just my personal thoughts and opinions for discussion here: “Dengan Izin YB and the citizens of Malaysia”
Firstly, I am pleased to hear and more than agree for Mr. Baru Bian (an experienced lawyer and well versed on NCR Land issues) to lead the Dayaks. In this new generation agenda, Dayak Baru not only need a capable leader but an executive leadership of creditable and reliable leaders who should finish well not only for himself or herself or his/her family but for their peoples and the state in general.
These new leaders are not appointed but act as rakyat’s nominee(s) and/or trustee(s) to “serve” the rakyat and the country in general! They are expendable neither dependable nor acting as monarchy but for and by the rakyat.
Secondly, it’s better for Sabah and Sarawak to seek legal and rightful autonomy from West Malaysia after all they have never recognized the proclamation of 1963 independence of these two states within the MALAYSIA context ever since the 16th September, 1963 i.e. when Sabah and Sarawak joined Malaya to form MALAYSIA.
Malaysia is not MALAYA “31st August 1957” nor is East Malaysia under the Federation of Malaya but Federation of Malaysia. No wonder the “prebumis” of East Malaysia are the 4th Class citizens of the Federation of Malaya.
**Sarawak achieved its independence on 16 September, 1963 and joined Sabah, Singapore and the Federation of Malaya to form MALAYSIA.
Thirdly, the Federation of Malaya until todate has never fully recognized the Federation of Malaysia. If so why are there so many unsettle issues like the Sabah 20 Points and the Sarawak 18 points; and many others issues.
Fourthly and so on: You may add the rest…. (Dayak Lama and Dayak Baru/ BN and PR)
The exclusion of Sabah and Sarawak out of the Federation of Malaya/ Malaysia
Disclaimer: Point of thoughts only not instigation or discrimination or provocation but a privilege to speak out as a citizen who believes in the truth of democracy, human rights and indigenous rights.
What could it be if Sabah and Sarawak (referred to as “East Malaysia”) seek to withdraw their constitutional rights out of the formation of the Federation of Malaya and/or Malaysia?
I presume it would tremendously benefits the people of both states in many spheres or possibilities via autonomy or outright independence as new “North Borneo” or new “United East Malaysia”(just a suggestion) or whatever name that is favorable to you.
Notes: Even the current or the future CM(s) could become the new “Rajah” or the “President” or the “Prime Minister” of the new states “North Borneo” or whatever name that please you thus has full immunity from the two states and recognizable by the United Nations and other power nations. I also believe countries like China, United Kingdom, French, Australia, United States of America, Russia, Japan and many others are keen to support this formation of the new “East Malaysia”. Is it viable, feasible and worthwhile?
Being a new independence nation yet a bigger and stronger states, and inter-alliance with the regional Asean nations, the Commonwealth, the United Nation, the European Union, the 18 American Native Nations and others both Sarawak and Sabah could prosper well as these two States are able to tap the opportunities of greater political stability, better economic growth and security strength within a unified new federal system of it own government.
New “Financial and Logistics Hub of the East”
Although there might be some initial skepticism in response to this new development, especially those concerning the welfare and the protection of their interests, I am pretty sure this skepticism would one day proved unwarranted as the two State continued to prosper to what it is from today to become a strategic “Financial and Logistics Hub of the East” i.e. located on the 3rd largest island of the world known as “Borneo”.
Racial harmony must be maintained and compromised at all cost – Stable Politics
On the social front, the attainment of racial harmony would help to provide the foundation for the human development of the two states and enhance by the Kalimantan neighbors. As these two States that have many indigenous ethnic groups practicing different religious beliefs, traditions and cultures, racial tolerance and harmony are important factors in ensuring a stable political environment.
North Borneo
The new formation of “North Borneo” would one day be proud of its achievement in fostering such close ties among its different ethnic groups, thus promoting peace and harmony as well as sustaining stability in her political milieu. Its economic development could also benefits West Malaysia and its peoples too.
Economically, these two States could prosper by leaps and bounds. Endowed with huge reserve of natural resources and large tracts of land to be potentially developed, these two states have been ranked as one of the two resource-rich States in Malaysia.
With the formation of this new “North Borneo”, these two States could plan, coordinate and centralize its political and economic development in a new administrative zone. Hence could result in the future rapid pace of development throughout these two States in the next millennium and in compliance to the UN Millennium Growth Development.
Conclusion
Things could have been better if the Federation of Malaya is sincere enough to recognize the true formation of the Federation of Malaysia. Are we not equal to Malaya? Not to mention the Dayaks indigenous of East Malaysia. Remember East Malaysia is not your adopted brothers/sisters but your Malaysian states. “Janganlah kita mudah lupa atau pura-pura lupa….”
My apology if this article become sensitive and/or racist or you may delete it as I mean no harm to create any havoc or other but to discuss on the subject openly if we believe in transparency and the true spirit of democracy.
Enti ka berani, anang takut-takut…. Speak the truth and believe in yourself if you dare to dream and achieve a better “Change”. What is the paramount thing that Dayak Baru needs to work on harder in the years to come is not only to “Change” but to improve it better and effectively? How should Dayak Baru view their role as far as making these changes happen and in terms of managing this process of “Change We Must”?
