Dear Zorro
Wld appreciate if you could forward this meaasge and publicise it. Tq.
URGENT MESSAGE TO YB LIM KIAT SIANG, DAP & PKR
NOTICE TO REMOVE PERAK SPEAKER
Please get your legal eagles moving on it PRONTO!
If the notice was dated 23rd April 2009 (last Thursday) the it clearly does not comply with the requirement of 14 clear days notice.
If you exclude week-ends and public holidays (e.g. 1st May - labour day) when the State Assembly does not sit, then there's no way that 2nd hand car salesman Camry can comply with the legal requirements of the State Assembly for notice of any motion.
If Camry next resorts to an emergency motion, this can easily be thrown out by YB Sivakumar as 'not being urgent or in the interest of the public!'
So, please investigate and act swiftly especially since every M'sian knows the UMNO MB's appointment is illegal has not been resolved by the Ipoh High Court.

ITS DONE, SHANK!
JUST DO IT MANO!
YES I DID. For the sake of his constituents in Kota Alam Shah HERE. I have nothing more to add except that the BN government will be vanquished by a higher majority at this by-election....and of course we will take the opportunity to fry some Toyo's ass during this campaign.
Malaysiakini broke this story HERE.
Speaking to reporters in Shah Alam, he brushed aside the resignation talks as speculations.
.....or if the PM thinks it is a waste of money and resources,
release Mano from Kamunting
and there will be no by-election.

GOD WILLING IDZAN ISMAIL....GOD WILLING.
I got this feedback from a regular commentator who comes in to dispense her venom on all and sundry. This morning she crossed the line: She wrote:

Dear Idzan Ismail,
i wonder what is your justification in saying that the detainees have done haram acts?for an act to be haram or illegal, it must be proven in court, i believe uve heard that there is an institution called court?and there is an established principle called due process. i believe we dont have to be geniuses to actually be aware of that.
perhaps if you have the time, you can go read islamic jurisprudence by hashim kambali and also jurisprudence book by curzon.good luck!

I received this email from Fadiah:
Debat ISA: Haram atau Halal?
Please be informed that Gerakan Mansuhkan ISA (GMI) will be organising “Debat ISA: Haram atau Halal?” in the light of the recent claims made by a group called PEWARIS chanting that ISA is in line with Islam and it is needed in order to protect the religion of Islam.

Tunku Aziz on 1 Malaysia - Dark Humor?
WHILST SHARP-SHOOTER JAC SHOOTS FROM THE HIPS, SAKMONGKOL POINTS HIS AK47 AT ANOTHER JOURNALIST.
God must have rewarded me for going to church yester- evening. I normally do not go to church on Sunday because it is mandatory, I go because I NEED to. Yesterday was one of those NEED days.....I needed to talk to him about a few things like taking care of my country and my friends Pete and Marina.
What's God's reward? After I posted about Jac Surin, this morning I am blessed with this piece from Datuk Sak aka Sakmongkol AK47. Datuk trained his AK47 at a journalist he merely refered to as JT. I have nicked her as Jostling Tan although in a posting of 13 August 2007: "The Scratching And The Stabbing Have Begun", I have been forward and identified her openly as Joceline Tan, Star columnist, UMNO media mistress. This was the period of the Khairy Ascendancy. Her writings and praise of KJ was in AK47 orgasmic rapidity.
Now she has changed sweethearts and sneers at DPM choice of Rashid Yusof as his press secretary. Why? Just because Rashid master-stratigised KJ's coveted seat as Pemuda Chieftan. And Rashid did not spin anything when he came outright to say that he was going to mend fences between the DPM and the Pemuda Head. That I like, very much, take aim and shoot straight. That is honesty.....and if they play the cards right these two might be the next PM and DPM. That is, if they play by the rules and not be smothered by their own people....then they will just remain President and Deputy President of UMNO and in the opposition.
Meantime, although it is none of my business, UMNO should be looking for some other media-concubine, but I know that the likes of Aniza has lost her ten foot pole.

Congrats DS on your latest assignment. Like I told MamaSita, it is more effective to be on the fringe of the periphery than being in the INNER circle.
JAC SURIN SHOOTS STRAIGHT FROM THE HIP.....
From the day word got out that Penang Deputy CM 1 may quit his adun-ship, the new PM was fast in inferring (can't blame him though after losing 4) that BN might not contest the by-election because it was a WASTEFUL EXERCISE.
The NUT GRAPH's Jacqueline Ann Surin who comes as sharp as you can get, points out WHAT IS REALLY WASTEFUL:
If we were to extend the BN's logic further, Malaysians should also conclude that any other candidate who contests against the PKR candidate in Penanti is being irresponsible about how public funds are spent.
Already, former Penang Wanita PKR chief Aminah Abdullah has said she will contest as an independent candidate. Surely she deserves to be vilified, too, for creating a situation where public resources would be unnecessarily drained again.
What really is a waste of public funds isn't the necessary process of an election in a democracy. What really is, is when so much is spent by state agencies with little accounting for how the money was spent.
And as someone who files my taxes in full and on time, what irks me is not the messiness and costliness of the democratic process. What outrages me is when public funds are used to stifle democracy.
For example, when FRU and police are sent to disperse peaceful candlelit vigils, sometimes violently. Or when more than 100 tear gas canisters are lobbed into a crowd of peaceful Malaysians protesting because of a legitimate concern (I wonder how much each canister costs?). Or when state funds are used to maintain the Kamunting Detention Centre which continues to incarcerate people, without trial, under the Internal Security Act.
That the BN is instead focused on demonising a legitimate democratic process because they don't see the value in it is revealing. That they refuse to acknowledge public funds are really being wasted to undermine our democracy in concrete ways is even more significant.
Need Malaysians wonder anymore what the BN stands for?

ON 25 NOVERMBER 2007 I WALKED ALONGSIDE THEM. TODAY IF NEEDS BE, I WILL DIE FOR THEM BECAUSE THEY ARE ANAK BANGSA MALAYSIA.
In my post of Nov 24 2997: Tomorrow I will walk alongside my Indian brother and sisters,
I also declared on 9 December 2007:
The day after the HINDRAF RALLY, 26 Nov. 2007 I ended my post thus:
YOU GASSED US,
YOU BATHED US IN CHEMICALLY-LACED JETS OF WATER,
YOU MAN-HANDLED AND ARRESTED OUR BROTHERS AND SISTERS.
IF YOU WON YESTERDAY, JUST REMEMBER OUR DAY WILL COME, COME THE GENERAL ELECTIONS.
THAT WILL BE OUR DAY!
But we only won a battle.
Winning the war, means CHANGE
To achieve change, sacrifices have to be made.
Are we willing to make those sacrifices?
If needs be I will sacrifice my life for this change!
Because I belong to this group of multi-ethnic, multi-religious Malaysians
who call ourselves
ANAK BANGSA MALAYSIA.

YESTERDAY TO EC AZIZ: GO PLAY MARBLES.....TODAY....
YESTERDAY, in my contribution to ensure that the foreign media do not continue to malign neophyte PM, I intimated that the Minister of Information who got this information about the insidious move by the foreign press to unseat the PM, need to have what it takes to sue these foreign bodies. If he does not institute these initiatives he should concentrate on one of our enduring cultures....play marbles. I meant to but I forgot....also spin tops, fly kite or indulge in the mind-game called congkak.
Today, SKY, Malaysiakini columnist and my Sarawakian blogger buddy (Hornbill Unleashed), asks the 3-in-1 Minister to go eat cakes. Evidently, he was not very pleased that Dr Rais was blatantly bias in feteing, thru a sponsor, bloggers who were seemingly pro-BN except for Ancient Mariner's Capt. Yusof. SKY wrote; Recently, the new Information, Communication and Culture Minister Rais Yatim hosted a dinner for 50 ‘prominent’ socio-political bloggers at a local restaurant in a move to engage the New Media.
Raja Petra Kamaruddin and his gang of Barisan Rakyat bloggers were not invited; to ask the reason why would be stupid of me.
I would ask the 3-in-1 minister to also invite the press whom he barred from his dinner with the prominent bloggers. The Barisan Rakyat Bloggers will pay for the media participants if the Minister has no budget for this engagement. For the Minister of Information's information, we are a strangely motley crowd of mixed ethnicity, all Anak Bangsa Malaysia. Our BRBloggers chapters in Sarawak and Perak would be thrilled to meet the Minister of Communications, you bet.
Dr. Sir, after the Penanti by-elections would be a good time to share experiences and do a kind of post-mortem. We will thus be able to give him a real hands-on PM unlike the ones conducted by the MOH DG. We anxiously await your invitation sir.

REMEMBER ZAM ZAM ALA KA ZAM?
On the day RPK did not show up, a Malaysiakini newscaster asked me for updates on the Rais dinner the previous night. I told him I was not aware of any dinner where bloggers were feted. He asked me for inputs because the media was not allowed to cover the event. I thought the Minister
had thrown a dinner for errant bloggers. I was then alerted to my friend Captain Yusof's (Ancient Mariner) blog. He is not an errant blogger by any stretch of any warped imagination. He is a straight guy, ramrod straight. The good captain surmised that he was the only non-pro BN blogger. Therefore by simple deduction I too should have been invited. But never mind that. I had a fishing engagement that night. Anyway I never liked such dinners because they spoil the sumptious dinner with a dessert of BN leftovers.
This morning, I was amused that the Minister unearthed a cloak & dagger plot by foreign press to unseat our Prime Minister. I hopefully hope our Minister is not re-reading the annals of Zam I and have no ambitions to be Zam II. Please don't Sir, because you are made of better stuff, I can tell. So let's not hear anymore of this plot. We are aware that a foreign body can attack any body. But a healthy body, I repeat, a HEALTHY body can ward off foreign bodies. It is when the body is not healthy that it is susceptible to an attack and possible annihilation by that foregn body.
One good way to prevent these foreign bodies from attacking our body (PM) is to attack them. The paradox - a good defence is the best offence - holds true here. If the minister is so sure and has all the relevant proofs, lets us SUE the foreign press for demonising our PM. This is the least we can expect as onery citizens. But we expect you, our Minister of Information, to institute legal actions against these foreign media. What for lah challenge Zaid Ibrahim for debate? Your predecesssor did and he frothed in the mouth. Don't waste home resources. Sue the foreign devils and you will have my undivided loyalty. Nike them, JUST DO IT!
FRIDAY GUEST BLOGGER: NORAINA SAMAD
I have always enjoyed her company especially when she is bored stiff with the men-folks' gossiping and the usual macho "have you heard this one?" one-up chest-thumpings.
I especially like Ena's straight-in-your-face honesty. I have not encountered otherwise.
I thoroughly enjoy her writings. Heck, she comes from a good blood-line, wedged comfortably in between her illustrious father, the late Samad Ismail and her elder sister Maria, (Tok Mommy).
This latest posting of hers encapsulates Noraina Samad. Enjoy and learn (?).
TUESDAY WITH........
...my friend and former colleague -- Aishah Ali or, as friends and family call her, Kudu.
"Tuesdays With Bapak" was slowly weaned off this blog after Bapak passed away last September.
It was difficult to reminisce. Perhaps, the heart and mind just refuse to, or has simply stopped functioning to do that.
I'm not sure if I want to revive it. To resume posting my reflections and reminiscences of my childhood and adulthood when Bapak was (somehow still is) so pivotal in my life, is a bit unsettling for me at the moment, as I am convinced that it will be an emotional journey which I'm not so sure I want to get on.
So, I decided that I'll just post little happenings for Tuesdays.
Like this little birthday gathering we had for Kudu at Treats (a cafe/restaurant) in Taman Tun Dr Ismail last Friday. (PIC HERE)
Kudu was three years my senior when I enrolled at ITM's
But we got really close when I joined the NST after graduation in 1978. We have remained so.
I remember her as the tyrannical senior lady who told me off the first day I stepped into the 13th floor of the
(Induction week was when first-year students get to know the school and the seniors and this came after the college's orientation week.)
I was at the 13th floor lift lobby of ITM's multi-storey building when Kudu appeared and asked me, in a stern headmistress-ish voice : "Freshie, why were you not at the induction?"
Me: "I am not a Freshie" ( because I attended Pre-University at the college, so I was technically not a Freshie).
Kudu: (Looking so not amused) "The School Of Mass Comm has not declared you a junior!"
(I think that translated to -- "waah...kau ingat kau terror, eh?")
Then, miraculously, the lift door opened in front of me and I was saved from further verbal assault.
I decided I did not like this senior lady.
So, I turned to her and uttered, quite softly: "Too bad".
Suddenly it hit me that I was going to be in that place for the next three years.
"Alamak....I hope she did not hear that...", I thought.
But she must have heard.
Bapak who had helped establish the
Someone or more, without wasting time, must have happily reported to Bapak about my convenient absence from "induction week" and that brief exchange with Kudu.
You see, Bapak -- if you knew him -- had a way with young people. He was managing editor of NST at that time and he had developed close ties with the school and even better relations with the students who were my seniors.
Word got round, I suspect, that "anak Pak Samad" was enrolled at the school, did not attend induction and, when encountered was "mengada-ngada". Such exaggeration!
The following morning, I was summoned to the office of the head of the
There, waiting for me was Bapak, cigarette in hand, smiling. Aaah...that smile was deceptive.
"I hear you've been arrogant to your seniors......", he remarked.
To cut the story short, Bapak was not pleased with the way I conducted myself, insisted I made up for the bad behaviour by treating the seniors I had offended, to lunch. So, he gave me some money. And yes, I did give them a treat, as instructed.
So...a lesson learnt and remembered.
Back to Kudu's birthday tea last Friday.
The little birthday gathering was organised by a few of Kudu's former classmates with whom she is still in touch. It was kind of impromptu.
The only non-classmates there were my own former classmate Hamidah Yusoff and me.
I got her a mixed bouquet, including roses. She got a beautiful piece of fabric from her former classmate, Nik (nicknamed Teo).
The tea was compliments of Datuk Zainul Azman, otherwise known to his former classmates as ZA.
Making a nostalgic evening for Kudu were (also): Baharuddin, Rose, Molina, Dee Basariah, Zohara (Lola), and Datuk Poziah (Jee).
The food was good -- mee
Great company!
Notice I have left out Kudu's age.
Oh....she is still 35 as far as I can tell.
Happy Birthday, Kudu!
Thank you for an enduring friendship these past 30-plus years...
*By the way, Kudu was NST women's editor and The Sunday Mail editor. She left the NST group in 2006. She is now a media consultant (Ali & Ali) and is a free-lance writer. She is married to former NST and BBC journalist Ishak Nengah, mum to Jo Flizow of Too Phat, Ashraf and Iman, and sister to Datuk Zainun, Mustapha, Saleha (former NST features editor and now editor of Prestige magazine), Othman Hisham and Abdul Rahman..

HAPPY 35TH BIRTHDAY AISHA....I WAS AT YOUR 34TH LAST YEAR.
".......AND BRUTUS IS AN HONORABLE MAN."
For what this reference?
I have been wondering repeatedly on the choice of people the Government placed in some critical positions/agencies, like the Election Commission, the MACC, the Judiciary, as Ministers and Deputy Ministers and even the Cabinet.I agree with Tun Mahathir on his "unsavory" snap. I watch in consternation and utter disbelieve their shuffling, puerile utterings, indecision, and most of all their blandness and blatant disregard for ethics, integrity and self-respect. And these, the government claim are all honorable men! These men in honorable posts treat the rakyat as fools, easily duped.
But honorable men make honorable decisions. They have no masters. They are their own masters. They cannot be squeezed down there. Is the Chair of the Election Commission being (also) squeezed? The facts are all there before him and his troops. Why is there a delay in calling for a by-elections in Penanti. Performance NOW? A decision due today is postponed till Monday. Is he waiting for someone to whisper to him. Is the leash too tight?
Of course we do not discount that consultations with the powers that be is a prerequisite to safeguard your job and position, but when this becomes a chronic habit I have just one bit of admonition that I do not dispense easily and gratis:

I AM JUST WANDERING AROUND WONDERING......
You see, for ordinary people like us, if we cant get a Camry how can we hope for a silver Mercedez? If you have a corruption charge against you, how can you get off scot-free and still get some millions? Not possible yes? But we know who can arrange for the impossible!
It just a matter of being donated a lottery-draw takings. RM10 or 15 million, no problem......just the takings for a draw. And there are a few draws a week X the number of types of lotteries PLUS special draws, when the NEED arises. So those millions "donated" will not creat a ripple although the act of froggie-hopping sure can cause ripples of crisis for a state like Perak.
Now that the MACC has absolved the former deputy CM of Penang, I am wondering if there will be a special draw soon.....just wondering as I wander around.

HERR GENERAL WENGER....CAN OR NOT, INCLUDE MY QUESTION?
Let's digress a bit. I have not met Herr General yet and it is my current pet wish that our paths may finally meet at Penanti. I figured I missed him by a whisker when I went into Bukit Selambau. I had that feeling. We bonded in KT on blogsphere and I have thence on enjoyed his insightful sightings and impactful inputs; I mildly chided him when he brought down his blog Pade Dohl. However he resurrected as Benkel Wajiboy during the UMNO campaign after which he went off air and finally appeared again as publisher of The Rembau Times.
Herr General Wenger J Khairy is a declared UMNO ronin whose efforts for KJ winning the Pemuda Chieftan is a stated fact. I don't think he adores the PM but one has to help out because one is a ronin.....a true samurai of sorts.
I was reliably informed that the PM faithful to his Performance Now nagging has asked for inputs on why BN is being tagged a born-loser. I believe Herr General Wnger has been short-listed to have a private eyeball to eyeball tete a tete, without any female intervention.
I am lucky (don't ask me how or why, please....we have to protect our sources!) to be privy to the questions Herr General will throw at the Numero Uno. Here they are .....only 6....but pertinent, undoubtedly:
1
The economy - High cost of living, rising unemployment.
2
The Police Force. The Kugan issue, the Adi Anwar issue, the police seen to be ultra BN.
3
The Mahathir stigma - PM is seen as acceding to the wishes of Tun Dr Mahathir, which is a liablility. Its just replacing the 4th floor of Pak Lah with the First Floor of Dr. Mahthir. Not acceptable to the youth.
4
The Altantuya issue - People cannot accept that PM has yet to sue the foreign newspapers that blackballed him over the case.
5
The Cabinet - Tired faces, we've seen them before. And why is MCA rewarded with 4 Cabinet positions? PM should have never selected Ng Yen Yen as she is rumoured to have an Autralian PR. Why a lot of UMNO supreme council members not selected to the Cabinet. Ini tak betul, Dato'......
6
The BN - Once again MCA is not pulling its weight but at the same time demanding more and more. PM should not have played hard ball and made sure they worked first before rewarding them with the positions. Only UMNO is working every time there is a by-election, yet one in 4 MCA parliamentarian is a Mentehri. We only ask they can get 35% of the Chinese vote, that also cannot - too much. Same old story, UMNO is a bully and all that crap. Very very disappointed with MCA..
Herr General believes that if the majority of these 6 issues are addressed, then BN can begin to turn the corner, if not, the slide will be doomed to be down and down and down.
VIEL GLUCK
HERR GENERAL!
=====
Herr General, I nearly forgot!
Can you throw in this question?
Its a request from my buddy Duke the Whisperer:
Sir, what did you whisper to the Ruler to win Perak so expeditiously?
HERR GENERAL,
TAUSEND DANK!
PETE & MARINA....THIS, JUST FOR YOU....
The message throughout was so gripping that I viewed it so many times and everytime it sent me into cathartic dizzy spins and teary-eyed moments.
If I do not see you both tomorrow (I need to bury a very loved-one) I will catch up with you soon.
To you Pete and Marina, stay strong as we continue to dream this dream.

I DREAMED A DREAM
There was a time when men were kind
When their voices were soft
And their words inviting
There was a time when love was blind
And the world was a song
And the song was exciting
There was a time
Then it all went wrong
I dreamed a dream in time gone by
When hope was high
And life worth living
I dreamed that love would never die
I dreamed that God would be forgiving
Then I was young and unafraid
And dreams were made and used and wasted
There was no ransom to be paid
No song unsung, no wine untasted
But the tigers come at night
With their voices soft as thunder
As they tear your hope apart
And they turn your dream to shame
He slept a summer by my side
He filled my days with endless wonder
He took my childhood in his stride
But he was gone when autumn came
And still I dream he'll come to me
That we will live the years together
But there are dreams that cannot be
And there are storms we cannot weather
I had a dream my life would be
So different from this hell I'm living
So different now from what it seemed
Now life has killed the dream I dreamed
