PAS vice-president Salahuddin Ayub and secretary-general Mustafa Ali described the event - timed to coincide with the 41st anniversary of the worst racial riots to occur in the country - "dangerous", "insensitive" and "bordering on extremism". Salahuddin also questioned the stand of the Integrity Institute of Terengganu after it was reported that the gathering was organised “in cooperation” with the state government body.If the report really is true, I hope that the Integrity Institute of Malaysia (IIM) will take the appropriate measures at stopping it.
The PAS youth leader Nasruddin Hassan called for the government to put a stop to the rally, aimed at gathering 10,000 Malays and 45 Malay rights NGO under one roof.
"I urge the public not to attend the function. This event will just put the nation backwards, and bring back nightmares to those who have actually survived the May 13 incident," he cautioned.
Umno youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin Abu Bakar said on Twitter that he thinks the May 13 rally is "inappropriate and a symptom of the siege mentality".
DAP parliamentary leader Lim Kit Siang also condemned the rally, calling it "insensitive, extremist, incendiary, and a total mockery of the inclusive 1Malaysia slogan".
"Whilst we respect freedom of expression and right to peaceful assembly, a gathering of this nature will set our country back to the 1960s," MIC secretary-general S Murugesan said.

Now that the general consensus is for the rally to be aborted as the theme is in bad taste, he stays silently on the subject. In this manner, he has nothing to lose. That's how he plays this game.
