Kit Siang speaks briefly asking for commitment morrow. He wants to keep it short as the permit does not allow extension. Chin Huat and I discuss RPK.

Guan Eng leads the crowd in song dedicated by George Chan to Taib: I want no money, no money from you

his speech is interrupted to announce the arrival of Senior Lim.

DAP, PAS and PKR flags wave as he makes a point. Windfall awaits Sarawakians if Pakatan kicks out BN. He claims that Sarawak can do better than his Penang. You can, he says, shut down Malaysiakini now, tomorrow the people of Sarawak must shut down BN and shut out Taib, send George Chan on a belated honeymoon and Alfred Jabu will be pit out to the Salcra plantations to harvest oil palm.

The DAP anthem announces the arrival of the Chief minister of Penang, YB Lim Guan Eng. All the Sibu candidates join him on stage. Zairil says the rock star is on board. He tries to simulate the Mexican Wave,,,,,but the crowd cannot form a pattern as they are spread all over.

YB Wong ends his speech and as he descends the steps Suzzane offers her dad a drink. The crowd waits for the Lims and MC Mae Ying whips the crowd into joining her with the crowd fav - I BELIEVE. Whistles are blown, glow sticks and flags wave to the tempo of the song. No umbrellas are waved as the drizzle is no more. A slight breeze blows .

Dang! It is a difficult exercise.....imagining that the 100 Plus tastes like beer!

The favorite son is still on stage. His speech is punctuated with whistles of approval. They want him to remain on stage. His greatest admirer Suzanne his daughter stands gaze transfixed on her dad. Suzanne is a tireless volunteer worker, always smiling, always on the move, helping out whenever help is needed in the ops centre.

Sibu Member of Parliament Wong Ho Leng comes on stage in a mist of dry-ice. He is contesting as Calun of Bukit Assek. He is always cheered.....he is Sibu's favorite son.

The crowd sing another song. Adriene who is beside me says that it is a meaningul song on comradeship, Lilting the tempo. The song is PENGYOU by Emil Chau.

The crowd has broken into song again. i see them shaking their heads. They agree that I should get a crew-cut if Pakatan governs Sarawak.

Chong Eng, a GOOD peh moh, according to Adriene, who works for the Selangor Govt. and is down here is Sibu to volunteer as a polling agent. Chong Eng claims that DAP is not a West Malaysian Party.....DAP has been in Sarawak too long to remember.

SURPRISE, SURPRISE, SURPRISE....Wong Chin Huat is on stage with the National Flag wrapped around his shoulders..Eearly this week he was denied entry into Kuching. I hope he did not sneak into Sibu by sampan on the mighty Sungai Ranjang. It is easier coming into Sibu than Kuching. Lessons learnt......Haris, Datuk time come thru Sibu. I got contacts lah.

Chin Tong sang a verse of some song I am not familiar with. These DAP guys and gals are in a singing mood......its a good sign.....celebrating, yes? He calls on the crowd to add more ROCKETS into the Sarawak assembly.

Chris Lee tells me the crowd has negotiated 14,500 and contemplating 15000 by the time we are half way thru. The atmosphere is electrifying.....the crowd is singing the mandarin version of I BELIEVE.....crowd twirling umbrellas in rhythm with the song. Glow sticks are thrown to the crowd and its festive......dang....if I could have a beer to go with the mood.....I know Duke is enjoying his dollar beer at his Bitch being Friday. Probably Boom and Kamal are either at Sids or Fish and Chips.

Calun Alice Lau has turned entertainer....switching from fiery speech to serenading the crowd. She is getting there....improving at every ceremah. This is a fighting package. I wish her well tomorrow.

Still drizzling but very slight.....crowd is captivating....there is this sense of change....I dont know how to say it but if you were here you would understand.

i have covered all the election and all by elections and I am seldom convinced that the size of the crowd will determine the outcome of the polls.

But things are different in Sarawak. The ceremah size is humongous. This time I say that the size counts BECAUSE the donations collected is way beyond expectations. When people brave the weather, bring their own plastic chairs or stand for hours AND DONATE SO GENEROUSLY, it counts for something. It means THE PEOPLE ARE MAKING A COMMITMENT.....A COMMITMENT TO EFFECT CHANGE. That, people is what is different about this Sarawak a single ceremah in Miri the people donated RM29k....that is mind-blowing.

Life-size Ubah is posing for foto shoot with children as calun Yap for Dudong takes the mike.

Zairil ended his speech this way: My father was given the honor to read the Declarastion on the formation of Malaysia in Kuching. If my father was alive today he would be very disappointed with the state Sarawak has descended. That is why I am now in politics. That is why I joined the DAP. i want to fight corruption. I want CHANGE and I want to be involved in this necessary CHANGE....UBAH.

Zairil Khir Johari takes over from the MCs who had been warming up the crowd. This new-find is becoming very popular with the locals in Sibu because of his language versatility, alternating between Mandarin, Hokkien, English and Bahasa. He began the campaign in Kuching, I was told, distributing flyers during Ceremahs. YB Lim Chin Tong invited him to speak in Sibu and since then have been on the ceremah circuit in Kuching, Miri and Sibu and the townships in between.

Haris and d'Nightcaller called. It is not possible to hear them over this cacophonic mixture of whistling, a video show and the DAP anthem. I owe them a return call.

Both MCs are greeting the rally-goers......whistle blowing greets the gathering.

For most of the people standing in the rain, this could be the first time they will see the father and son on stage making time and giving their time to give Sarawakian a new chance.....a chance to chart their own future........a chance to effect UBAH.....CHANGE.

I just deleted a comment. He was abusing all opposition leaders and he told me not to waste ink writing.....INK.... this must be another missing village idiot on the loose.....INK!

Steady drizzle....crowd building up. There is only one is not curiosity, it is not dedication, it is not loyalty to a is RAW PASSION.

Still drizzling but the people are gathering slowly but surely.....think I go catch a bite at a Malay restaurant I used to frequent during the 2010 Sibu by elections. See ya, yah?

Light drizzle. Some elderly are sitting on their own stools and umbrellas up. Such passion!
They have changed the orientation of the stage to cater for a bigger turnout and for better sight-lines. Thats good ..... thinking of the people.

Am still at the DAP operations centre and ready to move out to Kampong Datu....waiting for transport.

Looks like George Chan and his boys have taken my advise that unless they turn in cockroaches they will drown. They continue to creep out with their dirty tricks:

On nomination day PALAWAN had around 10 postal votes. As of yesterday 14 April, there are already 404 postal voters where THEY ARE STILL LISTED IN THE NORMAL ELECTORAL ROLL AS REGULAR VOTERS.

SPR can still increase athe number of postal voters tomorrow on polling day. The excuse for "conversion" of regular voters to postal voters is because they are appointed as SPR officials!
How honest can you get!

The participation at DAP ceremah's have become legendary since day 1 of campaign. Last night Kampung Datu attracted 12 thousand of the electorate. SUPP cannot take this rejection of the people. THEY ARE CURRENTLY PUTTING UP A STAGE OPPOSITE DAP CEREMAH SITE AT KAMPONG DATU. How competitive can you get!

Cabbie is here........will continue once we are set up at Kampong Datu ceremah site. Meantime read this from a reader:

Insider story of SUPP (Part 1)

I spent most of my working life in Miri and Kuching and as a businessmen, was forced to socialise with SUPP and other political leaders. I got to be quite close to them, and became one of their “supporters” who was “required to help” during elections.

I would like to appeal to all the voters, especially the Chinese voters, to vote for the opposition and not the SUPP. Let give just relate some of the home truths about SUPP:

1. SUPP under George Chan is not working for the Chinese but Taib Mahmud who took away the Kuching Mayor’s post and gave it to a civil servant (died) without consulting SUPP. Before the announcement I was at a dinner with George Chan, Lee Kim Shim and Alan Sim and GC hinted that AS would make an excellent mayor for Kuching. AS was smiling so hard that you would have guessed that he was 100% sure that he would be the mayor. But TM simply gave it to someone else and GC could not do anything about it.

2. When the 2006 state elections came about, I was asked to “donate” to SUPP’s campaign in Kuching. My Miri branch manager told me that the SUPP Miri people (Andy Chia, Datuk Wee and gang) “asked” for my company vehicles to be “loaned” them for the campaign. When the issue of land lease came up, GC told us in a dinner function that he will “speak” to CM and CM would make an announcement at a unity dinner in Kuching. I was forced to buy 3 tables at this dinner at Crowne Plaza. I was sitting a metre table away from the VIP table and I saw GC begging the CM to announce that he would renew the lease. CM just told GC, in front of everyone, I will announce in my own time. Can you image the SUPP president’s shame? In front of the Chinese community, he cannot even get the CM to make a “hint” about the land lease.

After the elections, I was having dinner with GC’s supporters in Miri and he told in a serious tone that CM refused to make the announcement because he wanted to “punish” the Chinese/SUPP for making “too much noise”. This meant that TM had already destroyed Iban unity by splitting PRS/PBDS into two factions and he wanted the Chinese to be the same while he prepared his children to come in and take over. This man even hinted that TM only dared to do this because GC was the SUPP president. GC cannot stand up to TM on any issue. He just gives in on every crucial issue. Why? – I will tell you later.

3. During the 2006 state elections, one of SUPP’s biggest financial contributors, Ting Chek Si, a tycoon from Sibu, was not selected to defend his Meradong seat. His crime? TCS was in a business dispute with TM’s brother over the Sanyan group of companies. TCS has sued TM’s brother for “oppression” and revealed that he gave TM’s brother 51% of the shares in the company in return for TM’s timber concessions. TM told George Chan to dump TCS and GC, like a good running dog, did as he was told. This is despite the fact that Meradong people wanted TCS because he was using his own money to provide help to Meradong. The SUPP Central working committee even endorsed TCS’s name as candidate. What kind of party leader is George if he dumped his own men and listened to PBB’s leader? Is SUPP a sub-branch of PBB?

What is worse – when TCS protested to GC, GC lied to his face straight and told him to keep quiet and TCS will be given another chance as senator. Of course GC did not keep his promise, he gave the senatorship to Sim Kheng Hui.

.... to be continued

Inside Story of SUPP (Part 2)

4. This is not the first time GC lied openly to his colleagues. In 2004 General Elections, he promised Law Heing Ding that he will be nominated as the Minister but for the last term. George even put this in writing. After the elections, George nominated Datuk Peter Chin. Is it any wonder that LHD called George Chan a liar in the Chinese press and GC did not dare to sue him? If George Chan is a man of honour as he says he is, why does he not sue LHD for defamation? LHD even went to the extent of writing a complaint letter to all the SUPP CWC members and gave a copy to the PM and TM. He has documents to prove that GC is lying and backstabbed him.

5. You do not need to look at GC’s political games to know he is a fake. Just look at the way he behaves towards his first wife, Judy. He cheated on her for so many years that she ran away. He had an open affair with Christina Foo of Priority One and gave the company a lot of state government consultancies.

During the search and rescue mission for Dr Judson in the Kelabit highlands, he visited the place often to “direct” the search. The real reason was that he was chasing a Kelabit girl and took her to KL to be his mistress. Just ask anyone in the highlands and they will confirm this story. This girl is now driving a BMW and living in a semi-D in KL.

What kind of man would use a moment of anguish over a helicopter crash to think about sex and chasing girls. Is this a “leader” of the Sarawak Chinese community?

Even worse, he allowed his daughter (the most beautiful one with white skin) to marry TM’s son. When Sulaiman turned out to be playboy and started to hit the daughter, GC actually told the daughter to “bear it” as Sulaiman could ensure that she has a luxurious life. When Sulaiman heard this, he hit the poor daughter even harder and sent her off to live in the States leaving him free to chase all sorts of girls in KL and Manila. As a father, how could GC do all these things?

The question is why? Why does GC do all these underhanded things?

The answer is simple. The love of power and wealth. He can only get power and wealth by being a running dog to TM and this is exactly what he has done. He has made SUPP weak because TM wants SUPP to be weak while the Melanau dynasty rules forever.

George Chan wants to enjoy the good things in life like fine wine (he has one of the finest wine collections in Malaysia) and women. He can only do this as deputy CM.

With a leader like George Chan, who lies to his own senior party members, and reports to PBB and TM – can we elect SUPP? If SUPP were to come out and say that it is a sub-branch of PBB, at least I will consider it as they will be telling the truth for the first time.

After all these nonsense I decided that I had better migrate. I do not want my children to deal with this sort of “leaders” and live in a country where the Chinese leaders are forever kowtowing to someone else.

I am not writing this out of spite. I encourage readers in Sarawak and elsewhere to investigate if what I say here is true. Even if 50% is true, don’t you think SUPP deserves to be punished?

The only way to get rid of George Chan and his group of PBB/SUPP members is to vote out SUPP until George Chan loses power. There is no other way. I took the easy way out by migrating but that does not mean I do not love Sarawak or care for the future of Sarawak. It simply means I am too old. I am telling this story so that the younger generation will know the truth.

THANKS!Now we have the full inside story on a crook like George

Cabbie is honking.....signing off at 556pm............. be with you in a bit.

Thanks for your commentary - it brings smiles to all of us are not at the ceramah.

We all must deny BN 2/3 majority in Sarawak polls to send powerful message to all Sarawakians and Malaysians – “Tomorrow can be better!”

My worry is the dirty tactics by BN/SUPP. The postal votes is increasing mysteriously. I hope Pakatan people are ready with video camera to capture evidence of vote rigging by the desperate BN.

Pek Moh has overstayed his worth and highly corrupted. Even the Federal BN leaders have that sentiment. Where's the spirit of 'leadership by example'? The Iban/Dayak folks must unite and vote BN/PBB out tomorrow.

I salute and thank you, Uncle Zorro, for valiantly soldiering on through so many by-elections in the last 3 years. Looks like there's going to be some REAL excitement tomorrow rippling across not only Sarawak, but the whole country. All of us here are keeping our appendages crossed, may truth and justice finally prevail and Taib Mahmud and his BN cronies be forced to eat their own excrement.

Dear reader, lets see how deep u can think in the latest RPK development.
1. If u think he was bought, then put ur anger in the ballot.
2. If u think he can still be trust worthy, choose that in your ballot.
Wrong move this time, the double edge shall cut inside out. Choose wisely otherwise read Dummy for Voters. 

Subject: FW: A true story from Sayang Sarawak

An elderly man met Dr Sim during his walkabout in Kenyalang Park.

He asked: Doctor I hear you are a skillful doctor of the heart.

Dr Sim: Yes I believe so.

Old man: Tell me doc, there are two heart ailments I want to ask if you can heal?

Dr Sim: Yes, what are they?

Old man: Can you heal “tam sim” (a greedy heart) and “oh sim” (an evil heart?)

Dr Sim: speechless and walks away…

Dr Sim is BN candidate for N.10 Pending against Violet Yong of DAP.

There is a third heart ailment in the UMNO PBB BN books- “boh sim” – “no heart”. These gangsters have been robbing the people with no pain in their hearts because they got no hearts!

Dr. Sim, Dr George Chan & and the whole corrupt SUPP and PBB BN Gang may have to queue up at the Kota Samarahan Hospital after today when they need heart surgery.

They will all thank George for equipping the hospital with out of date equipment.

So may be book your emergency flight to Singapore where they have world class facilities!

The myth that UMNO/BN cannot be toppled is BROKEN. Do the math. Its not even necessary to deny 2/3 majority to BN Sarawak. In the next GE, the message will be out that BN promises of development is NO GOOD because they may not even be the next govt to write the checks. Doubtful checks particularly in Sabah, will be devastating to BN. They don’t have the cash to pay for most thing upfront.

Higher internet penetration in Peninsula will mean people will be HIGHLY inspired. They have waited a long time to topple UMNO/BN. Even the detractors like Hindraf and others will mean little in a wave of pent-up accounting of UMNO/BN record. People want to open up the books even the UMNO/BN members.

Uncle Zorro, You have done a great job by providing us the latest info regarding the 10th Sarawak State election especially many of the NGO blogs and portals are attacked and blocked by rich and powerful. They thought they could hijack the election result. It's too late. The tsunami is in the making.

PR's result is not bad, not bad at all..considering it is up agains't the whole Federal Government and then some.. As a Sarawakian, the result didn't really suprise me.. More is needed done to win over the people, especially our low income friends living outside the city (imagine wages of RM8-12 perday). Many have gone through 30 years of the Taib regime. 30 years!! Yes, everyone here knows that the Taib regime is evil. But you can't expect to earn their trust just by showing up during the elections. You'll need to walk with them, share their problem while helping them..(B.Baru is a good example, thus the win). So don't take heart with the lost people.. it's a win, really.

MCA (Kong Cho Ha) blamed the DAP for the swing of Chinese vote to the opposition. He further claimed that DAP is not able to help the Chinese.

I think MCA should look itself in the mirror before making such a comment. It is precisely because MCA is not able to help the Chinese that the Chinese at large have turned to DAP and for that matter, Pakatan.

And to MCA, PLEASE don’t claim that you represent the Chinese in Malaysia; we don’t need you!!!

Najib is seen stalling on reform after disappointing vote in Sarawak.

It proves that Najib’s 1Malaysia and inclusive reforms are no more than a gimmick employed to fish non-Malay votes.

Here is my humble review of the Sarawak election:

BN has 55% of the vote but has 77% of the seats, whereas PR has 40% of the vote but only 21% seats. SNAP is largely irrelevant with a pathetic 2%.

The bulk of BN seats are held by Taib’s PBB, which retain all 35 of their seats (49% seats). The Malay/Melanau stronghold is still Taib’s domain for now.

PRS also retained all 8 seats, while SPDP lost 2 seats to go down to 6. Together they have 10% of the vote but 20% of the seats.

This is in contrast to PKR, which has 17% of the vote but only 4% of the seats. Nobody does gerrymandering better than Pek Moh.

The biggest winner for PR is DAP, who has doubled their seats from 6 to 12 (17% seats) with a respectable 20% of the vote.

SUPP is the biggest loser tonight for being running dogs, halving their number of seats from 11 to 6 (8% seats) with 16% vote, though they’ve lost nearly all their Chinese-majority seats.

What this means for GE13 is this:

In Peninsular, BN and PR are basically tied at 86-73 due to more people having access to alternative media there and not get duped by BN propaganda.

Including the 7 kataks then it’s 93-73. 111 seats is needed for a majority out of 222 seats.

BN only dominates because of the “fixed deposit” of Sarawak and Sabah, which delivers up to an extra 54 seats (29 from Sarawak, 25 from Sabah), making it 147-75.

DAP’s thumping of SUPP tonight would translate to ~6 seats for PR from Sarawak, reducing BN’s deposit from 54 to 48 seats.

Assuming Sabah remains a mess for PR, then the total tally based on a draw in Peninsular (83-83) would be 131-91.

As long as PR holds its momentum and not get complacent, they can hold even against BN in the Peninsular, or even overtake them (especially in Penang, Kelantan, Selangor and Perak), so it won’t be 83-83 on the Peninsular.

However, PR would still need about a 20-seat swing to get the score even at 111-111.

Judging by the increasing wrath of the Chinese votes against BN starting from 2006 Sarawak state election, the 2008 “Tsunami” GE, subsequent by-elections in Chinese areas, most notably Sibu in 2010, and now last night. The Chinese component parties of BN – MCA and Gerakan, which total 17 seats – are in danger of being completely decimated.

If PR can ride on this wrath and capture the majority of these MCA and Gerakan seats, plus re-take the seats lost to the kataks, and all that’s left is to sort out the mess in Sabah and the magic number 111 would be very close by, and Putrajaya would not necessarily be out of reach come GE13.

Thanks for Zorro's revelation, George Chan was sent to retirement.

We need more revelation on other BN flers. How about the Port Dickson hotel incident?
