Dear Pa! Good for you! I see you have been very busy since Patrick and I left. It's apt that Malam Bangso Malaysia is being celebrated on PAtrick's 2nd birthday. We will party and be with you in spirit. I am very proud of you Pa, proud that I am able to tell my children that their Kong-Kong is a just-do-it kind of person, an action dynamo. You have inspired action on my part too. When we came home here we met a family, the McPhees in dire need of all the necessities of life and instead of turning a blind eye we committed and in a matter of weeks with the help of our friends and the amazing people we met along the way this family is now housed, clothed and the children in school. The mother is getting cleaned up and she is being helped by her mother who came from another island with all her belongings to help her daughter. The wonderful thing is that we did not do this alone but all the help came only when we acted. God is great, anyone looking in would think that it is us who have given and the McPhees that have received but they would be right only in the material sense. We have gained a whole new perspective on how tenous life is and also how precious it is to welcome all into our family. We have learnt to value each other more and to be thankful for the blessings God has given us to share with each other. The lesson for Malaysians is that we have already been there with racial divisions, now we have to look to the future with new eyes and a new way of thinking. Albert Einstein said We cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used when we created them. So these old-thinkers need to listen to you new thinkers.
Loveyou Pa! The Malaysian Gang is feasting on heng hua mee suah tomorrow night to celebrate Susan's birthday! We will toast to you and Mum and all at home!
