One thing about the future Prime Minister. He is on the ball. He knows what he is getting into. He fully understands the insidious chicanery that is UMNO. He has lived with the doves and the vipers. He is equipping himself with the necessary armour. He is aware that nothing is black and white in politics, especially the UMNO variety. He is also aware that he cannot trust no body, despite declarations of loyalty. He is also aware that he is in the cross-hair sights of Anwar and the indomitable Raja Petra Kamaruddin. As such he comes upfront with some decisive utterings as reported in NST online:

"I want total support from Umno members and I hope Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi and his supporters will also give their undivided support when he hands over responsibility to me.

"Please don't attack me and I also hope Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad will return to Umno's fold. I want everyone to be united in Umno.

"I want us to be together as a family," he said at a dinner in conjunction with the annual general meeting of Mubarak (Association of Former Barisan Nasional elected representatives) yesterday.

"Perception is more important than reality. (RPK has an excellent piece on this here.)I don't want the people to view Umno as a party where members can serve their personal interest, or one that can give out contracts."

He said in the past, Umno was strong because there was no such thing as negotiated contracts nor money politics.

Najib added that the people were now wise enough to judge if their leaders were sincere and dedicated to their struggle.

I have met him a couple of times in the mid/late 70s when he used to bring the ravishing Tengku Puteri Zainah Tengku Eskandar to the Merdeka Stadium during the Merdeka Tournament. Dang, she was a beauty of the Miss Universe calibre.

Of course I cannot yet forgive him for threatening to bathe his keris in Chinese blood at the TPCA stadium on the eve of Operation Lalang. But I am giving him the benefit that in due time I will forgive but not forget.

I don’t know if there is a conspiracy within BN to undo him. Take these utterings (although aimed at Anwar) of the following:

Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi said if Anwar had not committed the alleged crime, he should be willing to provide the sample without delay.

"If indeed he is not involved, give the sample now. He said he did not do anything. So he must give a fresh sample to prove that he did not do it. I want to see the results."

Abdullah said the case could be concluded quickly. "We want this to be resolved fast but (until today) it still cannot be done."

And this one: (also meant for Anwar but could also be a hint to….my perception again)

Home Minister Datuk Seri Syed Hamid Albar said Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) advisor Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim should not be worried about giving his DNA sample if he wanted to uphold the truth.

Of course a BN partner has to have its say, like this one:

Health Minister Datuk Liow Tiong Lai said DNA tests were a normal procedure in sodomy or rape investigations.

“We should abide by whatever that is needed by the police to help in their investigation,” he told reporters after accompanying Penang Yang Dipertua Negeri Tun Abdul Rahman Abbas in his visit to Sungai Bakap Hospital today.

…………."As a responsible citizen, Anwar should have cooperated with the police.

"Nobody is above the law.

ARE THESE THREE HINTING THAT THE FUTURE PRIME MINISTER SHOULD GO TO COURT TO DISPELL ALL RUMOURS THAT HE IS IMPLICATED IN THE ALTANTUYA EPISODE.

Perhaps, if the presiding leap-frog judge judiciously decide, Najib would wear the crown comfortably and once and for ever, put to shame those who want to demonise the PM designate. But Zaki says NO! Who asked him to disallow this. This Zak is indeed a mysterious one.....the one who will be chief justice? Only in MALAYSIA can this happen. Remember how Mansion Zak passed on. God's ways are always wonderful. MAN PROPOSES, GOD DISPOSES.
This Zak-on-the-bench is thoroughly distasteful.

TEHSIN'S LAST HOPE! MINE ALWAYS.

On the eve of the Bersih Walk I appealed to our King (here) to ensure that the police do not harm the participants of the Bersih Rally. I did that because he was our last bastian of hope. Probably he did not get the message or he was shielded from such messages from the common folk.

This morning, I read about another plea from blogger-friend TEHSIN..... a very impassioned plea that left me unsuccessfully holding back a sob. This happens to me every time I read about desperate appeal to the only hope we have, our King, to bring back some sanity to this beautiful country and its equally beautiful people.currently at a loss for succor.

MESSAGE FOR TUANKU MIZAN

Assalamualaikum,

Tuanku,

I have no idea what is the right way to address a King. I have never met a King in person. I have been courted by a prince (but that is a different story, a long time ago), but no, I have not had the chance to meet a King.

So I apologise if my message to you appears crude and unbefitting a King.

I just know that you are human like all of us, and that Rasullulah SAW was the King of men but he remained the humblest and most accessible of leaders. And he is our guide and example. The example for all mankind.

I do not know if you see what we Malaysians see, because you as with all our leaders, are totally detached from the real people by your immense wealth and man-made protocols. We, the rakyat, see a nation slowly and surely dying a slow, protracted, painful death. Our leaders, from all parties, BN, UMNO, Pakatan have lost their minds. And lost their focus.

They are either insanely bent on becoming the Prime Minister in an undemocratic way, or in the case of those democratically-elected (unfortunately) to rule the nation, driving us into the ground by their power struggles and back-stabbing actions and incompetent rule and unstudied decisions, plans and policies.

We the people are left to fend for ourselves. In my earlier post, I put up a piece by a Capt Aziz Abdullah, entitled, "I weep for Malaysia". He speaks for ALL of us in the most eloquent of manner.

WE ALL ARE WEEPING FOR MALAYSIA. I WEEP AS I WRITE THIS. AREN'T YOU WEEPING, MY KING? AS SOVEREIGN, ARE YOU NOT HUMILIATED THAT MALAYSIA HAS BECOME A LAUGHING STOCK OF THE WORLD AND KNOWN AS THE LAND OF SODOMY?

I wept this morning as I held my daughter tight and felt her tiny beating heart under my palm. I worry for her. I worry for our people. I took part in a Qi Gong exercise group this morning. We consisted of Chinese, Indians, Malays and me, a daughter of a Pakistani immigrant, whose grandfather fought for Malaysia, for your forefathers. I felt tears in my eyes, because this is what Malaysia is about. My dream is always for a Muslim nation and my dream is for all my non-Muslim friends to receive and embrace the message of Allah, which is for all mankind. If they do not accept it, it is my fault, the Muslims fault. Because I, we have failed in our da'wah, failed in spreading the message well and failed in setting a good example. They are still however, my fellow human beings, and I love and care for them and feel their pain and hunger too as they feel mine. We are all brothers and sisters, from one source. Adam and Eve. We all deserve justice and equality and a safe and secure nation to call our home.

Do you not see what is happening today? Our nation is struggling to survive, to breathe.

The economy is at a standstill. The world's chaos are piling up at our door, and soon that door will fly open from the increasing pressure and we will all be consumed. We are unprepared. Our country has been languishing for years, continuously raped and pillaged by the corrupt leaders who abuse all machinery, from the executive to the judiciary to the local councils, to satisfy their greed. Their bottomless greed. And now, the time for reckoning has come.

As Allah said, all destruction is wrought by our own hands. How very true. And when destruction comes, He Says, none will be spared, even the innocent. Because those who had the power and capacity to speak out, DID NOT.

I looked into the horizon as I do every morning as I sent my baby to school earlier. And all I saw and see daily is a black pall of smog, worsening by the day, hanging over the city and the outskirts. It is like a sign, a sign of doom. Physical and spiritual destruction. A reflection of our psyche and hearts. Black, ugly, sinful. As the leaders play their games, the people suffer. trying to make ends meet. Trying to balance family needs and plain survival. The environment suffers. Everything and everyone is neglected.

We have reached the end of our ropes.

YOU, TUANKU MIZAN, are the last line of defense for this nation. You are the KING. Whatever the restrictions of the constitution, believe this. The people will be behind you. The people need you to TELL THE LEADERS TO JUST STOP! STOP WITH THE GAMES, WITH THE POWER STRUGGLE, WITH THE ABUSE OF THE POLICE, THE JUDICIARY AND ALL OTHER MACHINERY MEANT FOR THE PEOPLE'S CONVENIENCE AND WELL-BEING!

TELL THEM TO STOP! ORDER THEM TO STOP!

COMMAND THEM TO START WORKING TOGETHER WITH THE PEOPLE AND COME UP WITH SOLUTIONS AND PLANS FOR OUR FUTURE. LET THE PEOPLE'S VOTES DECIDE WHO SHOULD GOVERN! NOT THE GAMES AND MANIPULATION OF THE POLITICIANS!

The Messenger of Allah SAW said, "Allah SWT will grasp the earth on the Day of Resurrection and will roll up the heavens in His Right, then He will say, "I am the King! Where are the kings of the earth?" [Al-Bukhari]

The trust put by Allah upon the leaders is so great that they should be quaking in their boots from fear of incurring His Wrath by committing injustices or allowing injustice to prevail. Even you Tuanku Mizan, with all due respect, should be quaking in your expensive shoes.

COMMAND THEM TO STOP THE GAMES AND GET THEM TO START WORKING TOGETHER.

THE PEOPLE NEED YOU.

Yes do not, not even a pin-prick drop of blood. As already confirmed by a forensic doctor under oath, in 1998, that they have surreptitiously acquired sufficient samples and you admittedly volunteered 5 samples up to 2004. Are they so blood-thirsty or what? Even my 88 years old Mum uncharitably said that they just want to put you away so that they can continue their misrule with abandon.

As for Minister of Health, vegetarian Datuk Liow Tiong Lai he recently said in Muar that he agreed with the Director of KLH that everything followed procedure. You were not present and even if you were there, we can’t take the whining of another running dog as politically correct.

So just shaddup, don’t politicize this issue and continue sniffing! You guys in MCA don’t get tired sniffing up to the same odour…..no wonder the people rejected the MCA big time. You people in MCA should spend more time repairing your already dilapidated shack and stop shagging around with your BN masters.

If There Is Light In Our Soul.

Is life FAIR? It should be but its not. Its more difficult to see what's fair then what's unfair. The current circus-like situation in the country (politically, socially, religiously and in the economy) is appalling.

There is an ancient Chinese saying that goes like this:
If there is light in the soul,
There will be beauty in the person.
If there is beauty in the person,
There will be harmony in the house.
If there is harmony in the house,
There will be order in the nation.
If there is order in the nation,
There will be peace in the world.

Let me take it from..'There will be order in the nation'.. There is order in the nation only if there is harmony in the house, and there will only be harmony in the house if there is beauty in the person, and there can only be beauty in the person if there is light in the soul.

There is no order in the nation because we do not see fairness; fairness in distribution of wealth and power, in justice, in love, in freedom of religious practices, speech and thought. And there are people in our country who stand up against these unfairness. Who do it without fear or favour. With gumption and valour. To these champions of fairness and justice lie our only hope to put our nation in order.

Robert Kennedy once said, 'Each time a man stands up for an ideal, or acts to improve the lot of others, or strikes out against injustice, he sends forth a tiny ripple of hope.'

That's what we need. Our country is in desperate need of revival, of moral, spiritual, political and economic. There can be no justice if there is no fairness and all virtue, Aristotle says, is summed up in dealing justly.

We are in this mire of uncertainty because the lawmakers that run our country lack the very character to be fair and just. There is no light in their souls therefore no beauty in their persons and that's why there is no harmony in the house and therefore no order in the nation.

Roadblocks again - Let Our Buses Go!

(Moaz has been writing so patiently for a while now on the transportation woes in Malaysia and has given numerous suggestions and proposed solutions and even written reports for the government to NO AVAIL..and no, no one is paying him to do it..commented Tehsin.)

The recent roadblocks on major streets and highways in the Kuala Lumpur area may have their justification (whatever it may be) but they are not good for the economy or the rakyat. The Malaysian economy has collectively lost thousands if not milllions of Ringgit due to lost productivity. People have arrived late for work or for important meetings. Some people who were taking the CLP Exam arrived late for their exam, effectively delaying their legal careers. Thousands of person-hours were lost to the delays and thousands of ringgit worth of precious petrol and diesel were wasted.

Many of these people who were delayed not only faced inconvenience but also serious economic loss. A large portion of the Klang Valley lives (perhaps survives would be the better word) on salaries of less than RM3000/month and in many cases, these people are living from paycheque to paycheque. It has been observed that since the petrol price increase, there has been a decrease in consumer demand especially at the end of the month, as people run out of money to spend. With the persistent rise in the cost of living, these people cannot risk losing pay for being late, or even worse, losing their jobs.

The government must consider the needs of the rakyat before they let these activities happen. The people do not need the additional burden.

One group of people that the government could help would be the public transport users. As it is assumed that public transport users are from the "lower-income group" it may also be assumed that these people are the most at risk from the roadblocks, and thus, deserve to be given some respite from these roadblocks.

So I again ask the police to use the red and white construction dividers to create bus lanes which would allow buses to move up ahead and allow buses to bypass the roadblocks. It is unfair for the drivers, but one bus carrying 40-60 people should be able to move forward. And perhaps the sight of buses driving smoothly past the traffic jam would encourage more people to use public transportation.

It is said that the prophet Musa (Moses) appealed to the Pharoah of Egypt to "Let my people go!" I have no intention of making a comparison, but I would like to appeal to the government and the police to "Let the buses go!"

Events of the past two weeks has made the Home Minister the most hated Malaysian to soil the Malaysian soil. Sample vomits:

On the roadblocks, Syed Hamid claimed he had no knowledge of it and that he himself had been caught in the traffic jams.

But didn't he apologise on Monday?

Asked if it was not suspicious that Mohd Saiful had gone to complain to Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak before lodging a police report, Syed Hamid said in Malaysia, "a minister’s house is open to the public".

Is that so? Since when? When can we all come to your house? Keep to your word, no road block before your house?

Syed Hamid said he was also scheduled to table a DNA Bill in the Parliament during this meeting, which would make it illegal for anyone to refuse DNA testing for criminal cases.

"It has been outstanding for so long but I decided to cover all possibilities, including the latest technological development in DNA testing. There is still a bit of finetuning needed," he said.

Another change to a constitution? In 200 years the US constitution saw some 60 changes. In 50 years, we have made some 600 changes to our constitution. Are the figures correct? I stand corrected.

SO THE ONLY WAY TO TELL THIS BLABBER-MOUTH TO SHUT THE FUCK UP IS TO HAVE HIM TAKE PART IN A LIVE DEBATE. THE KETUANAN RAKYAT APPOINTS DATUK SERI ANWAR IBRAHIM. HAVE YOU GOT THE SCROTAL GUMPTION TO TAKE UP THIS CHALLENGE? GOT OR NOT?
