TUESDAY PICKS -02

The real insult and the real hurt cannot be felt by you (IBRAHIM ALI). It is in reality felt by the hundreds of millions of Muslims in all those countries who are victims of corruption and bad government and who struggle to make a decent life for themselves. The true immorality is found among those who will not face up to the facts as they are and instead pretend to be their champions with bluff and bluster.

Yours sincerely,
uppercaise

Dear Ibrahim Ali, some data on corruption

+++++

It is through the contributions of all Malaysians that we are where we are today - in fact, as Syed Akbar points out, more so, perhaps, due to the contributions of the non-Muslims/Malays.

But Malaysia's continued prosperity is at risk, not because there is not enough religion, but because there is too much of it in the public sphere. Already, we are seeing religion being the basis of communal hatred and animosity, which fortunately, is not yet widespread. And the real danger is that apparently the majority of Muslims in this country misguidedly want more religion in the public sphere. More, they want an "Islam"-ic state.

Perhaps it's appropriate that Walski closes this review with the following quote, attributed to Albert Einstein :

Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.

The failure of the Islamic states the world over can be clearly seen. The reasons, too, are clear, as pointed out by Syed Akbar in his book. If the Muslims in this country can get over their deep seated denial (chapter 5), and accept that the root cause of their failure is their religion (not Islam), perhaps there is some hope yet.

Otherwise, we will surely succumb to the insanity of knowingly repeating the mistakes of others, and Malaysia, too, may one day become a full-fledged member of the dubious Club of Doom.

A READER SAID:

Kee Thuan Chye is a rare breed. We were students back in USM in the 1970s. Our path did not cross, but I remember him. He got himself into a pickle with the university administration over the orientation of a freshman, over something as innocent as having the student carry carton boxes for him. He was hauled up by the vice chancellor and made to apologise to the student. Kee stuck to his guns. I'll leave it to him to fill in the blank. Watching him from afar, his work and the challenge he faced steering his career through the bowels of the MSM, he came out whole. He kept his youthful ideals. In our transcient age that rewards superficiality and expedience, where people change commitments, renounce comrades and switch camps with no second thought, that's consistency for you. A very, very rare quality indeed.

The game plan in this libido-enhanced economy is to accumulate as much wealth as one can in the shortest period of time by using other people's money to become the best bubble economy in a country where bankruptcy is a guarantee.

A 'tongkat ali society' is also characterised by a libidinal economy and dispossessed youths. We put band aids on problems that could have been prevented through a sound education system and a thorough understanding of cultural change.

We also see the use of massive public funds to educate a small number of people who we call “gifted and talented” - leaving the intelligence and creativity of a large number of children unattended to.

Living ten thousand miles away I have little to do with the Malaysian civil service. My daily life is thus not affected by these tiada maruah (lack of integrity) folks at the top. The organization however, is essentially Malay; likewise the political establishment. These top civil servants and political leaders are thus seen as representing the best of not just their organizations but also of Malays. Consequently, their shortcomings are viewed less as personal failures but more of our community. When they behave tiada maruah, collectively Malays are also seen as such. That is what makes me angry.

It is also Club of Doom to cut off one's nose to spite one's face. There is justifiable anger at BN, especially at UMNO. But the anger often stems from racism, which people like Zorro have participated in the past. We have all read how as a Jesuit brother, Zorro used to bully the Indians under his tutelage. You have to kill this devil brother Zorro if you wish to find that elusive balance in your life. The emptiness will get larger.

Anger at UMNO / BN is justifiable but to embrace the DAP, PAS, PKR and Anwar Ibrahim is certainly misguidance. Certainly. Anwar is the worst example of UMNO thru and thru. Even UMNO could not stand him. You have picked him up.

The nation remains great with a good future. We do not lack for anything, we lack for luxuries.

All that is good in the country has been thru good leadership. That leadership needs support, criticism, guidance, advise, scolding and even punishment. We must stick together.

Those that we can do without in the BN, lets kick them out. Anwar Ibrahim, Chua Jui Meng, Zaid Ibrahim, Khairy Jamaludin and a host of others - maybe even Najib and Rosmah. Lets kick them out. But we must preserve the BN. It is a good vehicle.

Anwar Ibrahim, PKR, DAP, PAS, Parti Komunis Malaya, satanism, devils etc are best left on the wayside. Thes are the devil's own.

Thanks for your advice. However I was never a Jesuit brother, but a LaSallian Brother. You have been exceptionally kind. I have been accused of worst things than bullying Indian kids.

"But we must preserve the BN. It is a good vehicle." ....a good vehicle that controls the judiciary and practically all the law-enforcement agencies. You are not possessed, are you? I say do away with all racial-based parties and go for a two party system.

Since all those you named are devils, who are your saints?

Thanks again for visiting.

Anon123pm....who r u trying to spin? Bro Zor has been too kind in his response to your idiosyncrasy analysis of the terminally corrupted BN. Yes, Pakatan might prove not to be the right vehicle either, but at least we can give it a try after having been robbed and cheated by a racially charged party/parties for the last 30 years. We can't do any worse, can we?

This is what I received for moderation. I am posting this myself:

Tra-la-la has left a new comment on your post "TUESDAY PICKS -02":

Anon my brother 1.23pm

What do you expect? He bullied the Indians. He purposely failed the Malays.
I know so because my kids studied there.
He's on to winning the Nobel Prize for Racism.
Or he can join Chief Satan to Sungai Buloh soon.
But sometimes I understand him.
Chinese is the most superior race in the world.

Tra-la-la....what type of father are you when you did not seek justice for your kids on a teacher like me
who purposely fail your kids.

I would disown my father if he had not sought justice for me.

Dr M explains Malay political dominance over Chinese

“In the political field the Malays appear to be in control. Most of the high posts i.e. PM, MB etc are held by the Malays. If these posts are held by the Chinese, then not only will the economy be under Chinese control but the political arena would also be under the Chinese."

Dear Zorro-unmasked,

What are this anons talking about you bullying indian students? I assume you were an educator? Why did you not deny or fight this accusation? You responded to Anon 1.23pm, but stopped short of denying any involvement to this. What actually happened Mr Z?

zorro said...

Shankar it is up to him to prove. Making sweeping statements carries no weight. If being very strict as a discipline master for 18 years of a 19 year career is bullying, so be it.

He also hid under an Anon. What does it tell you?

Did you read my answer to Tra-la-la above?

Thanks for commenting.

Bernard,

Thank you for the Ramadhan Greetings.

We are all appreciative, grateful & cherished the era of "UMNO/Perikatan ASAL" under our Bapak Merdeka Tunku Abdul Rahman Putra and his 1st Cabinet of Men of Honour, Calibre, Distinction & Dedication & all the unsung Heroes...who had struggled to achieve our Nation's Independence in 1957 from the British Colonial "Divide & Rule".
