JUST a day or two before she died, she wrote this in her blog on hearing about the death of Teoh Beng Hock in MACC custody:
"Someone please wake me from this nightmare and tell me that this did not happen in my country and that Teoh Beng Hock is safe at home with his family."
I will remember her when I attend the memorial for those who died in custody as she would if alive today.

First: TBH is not in MACC custody, but in MACC office.
Second: Some Muslim scholars have written about the division of gender in Islam in four groups: male, female, hermaphrodites (khunsa) and mukhannis or mukhannas. Mukhannis are biological males who identify as female and want a change of their biological sex. Mukhannas are biological males who (would like to) assume a female gender role but do not wanr a change of their biological sex.

let's not be reminded of the Kosmo story.
the best thing is not to repeat it.
i don't read Kosmo but was told about the report.
That did not make me buy Kosmo, though. Neither did I seek the tabloid.
i only knew about the contents from people who have read it.
the thing is, the report was not a lie. it was the truth.
but should Kosmo have run the story?
i say "NO". because it is simply not right to "expose" the truth after she died. For what?
what wrong did she do to society?
she was an icon. she touched so many hearts.
she was malaysia's treasure. our treasure.
SHE was beautiful in so many ways, inside and out.
we remember her that way.
why did Kosmo not do the expose when she was alive?

i think we should look at her legacy, her work,talent, inspiration,craft,wit,creativity,etc. rather than delve on her sexuality. Who are we to pass judgment on another person?
She is after all a human being. Simple as that. She may be imperfect like the rest of us but she has that special gift that stirred something deep in all of us.
Personally i dont care what the newspaper reported about her even if it is true.
She has left us so suddenly to meet her Creator. Lets cherish her legacy and leave the rest to her Creator.....

I think it is an open secret regarding Yasmin's gender but does it matter? Apparently it matters to religious fanatics, bigots, racists. We will always remember her as a Malaysian icon who has enriched our lives. We will always remember her as a patriot who chose to fight racism, bigotry, idiocy, stupidity. We will always remember her as the epitome of the real OneMalaysia.
Kosmo has run a frontpage apology for that insensitive article on Yasmin. For me, it matters not what gender she was, she was a beautiful, warm n compassionate person - her soul simply radiates through her work.
I did read that Kosmo article online and i have come to the conclusion that Yasmin was a very special person. She was at the top of her game as a male and way ahead of the other film directors as a female. I salute her! RIP.
