AWANG SELAMAT GETS THUMPED!

I have known GALADRIEL for some three years now. We both are committee founder members of the still non-registered All Blogs. She is unobtrusive, unassuming and composed, but she damn sure have a mind of her own and when the occasion warrants she can throw a fair chunk in your direction. "Duck" would be an appropriate advice. In her posting yesterday, she throws a fairly big chunk at Utusan's Awang Selamat who very often conveniently lapses into memory-loss on things happening around.

The last time we went fishing, she insisted on buying me a lager. Anu, this is to reciprocate:

She asked if
racist rabble-rousing still works post March 8?

It just occured to me that two consecutive May 13s have taken place since the political map-changing Malaysian General elections of 2008.

Despite a record number of Parliament and State seats falling to the Opposition, there was a telling absence of widespread insecurity on the part of this country’s majority voters: the Malays.

Life was still the same in the streets. The makcik who sells nasi lemak in my predominantly Chinese neighbourhood still enjoys roaring business, her only troubles coming from the City Hall enforcement who wants to put an end to her illegal makeshift stall.

I have yet to lose any friends because of politics, Malay, Chinese, Dayak, Indian, Ceylonese, Kadazan or otherwise. The major disgruntlement was over how the establishment screwed the people over. But that was a complaint even I have.

You see readers, in the matters of civil rights, common interest, nation-building, economics and other sober goals, I ceased to see myself along the lines of ethnicity, if I ever did to begin with.

52 years after Independence, I guess Malaysians of different ethicities have ceased to be suspicious of each other on grounds of skin/race/religion. Except for the politicians and their likes.

Which is why it is baffling why a certain newspaper editorial still continues to fan the embers of racial sentiment.

Awang…oh Awang, you cannot be as dumb as to write this sort of drivel.

I take offence at the insinuation that my life here is at the behest of the kind people of Umno. I’m a child of this tanah air too. I was born here. I’d die rather than betray my country.

But if people don’t care for Umno, that should not be equated as anti-Malay. To say that is just plain stupid.

Why do people (Malays and non-Malays alike) hate Umno? You don’t have to be a rocket scientists to know.

The excesses we have seen over the years just makes the bile rise. Again and again. The corruption, the crimes, the violation of trust, the abuse of power….I could go on.

It’s not that the Pakatan Rakyat is clean as a whistle. It’s just that the scale of excesses on the BN side of the fence is far more dirty, so dirty that anything looks white by comparison.

Look at this PKFZ scandal. RM10 billion ringgit! I can’t even fathom how much one billion ringgit looks like. And that much money is squandered through shady deals, inept governance, lackadaisical attitude to the taxpayers’ money and sheer negligence.

That’s what we are opposed to. The status quo is a horrible state of being, for this country, Awang! And this is what many Malaysians feel. I think I can quite safely assert that we have moved beyond seeing people along racial lines.

Zaid Ibrahim is a Malay too, last I checked. And yet he too finds it disturbing to read yesterday’s editorial.

Yes, I agree that thousands of the immigrants were granted citizenship in those early days after Independence. But post-1970 it was another story wasn’t it?

The system was such that the likes of Khir Toyo, whose father wasn’t a citizen here, could go as far as to become the MB of Selangor, but a friend of mine who has lived here since 1953, still can’t get his citizenship.

Why? With Indonesians, it is always “kita serumpun” isn’t it? You buta sejarah fellas actually forgot the Konfrontasi period? Remember Ganyang Malaysia?

And since you embraced the Indons and they started turning up here in droves to work and to settle down like Khir Toyo’s father, the numbers grew.

But today, you don’t treat them any better these days, do you?

In fact, Malaysia can be positively evil on immigrant workers and refugees. Yes, there are bad apples here and there but imagine without those immigrant workers, who would work your construction sites?

The poor blokes who died last week in Jaya Supermarket collapse are cases in point. Now they mati katak. I hope the government has the decency to send their bodies back to their homeland to be buried.

Another thing, the part about kindness and generosity you guys at Utusan so readily associate with Malays certainly does not extend to the monsters that are in authority today. Monsters like those who tortured Kugan to death. Monsters like those who bombed Altantuya to pieces.

This government allowed for these heinous crimes to happen. This government screwed its own people by allowing the folks in resource-rich state like Terengganu and Sabah to remain poor.

This is what we object to. Not Malays, not bumiputeras. Imagine guys, maybe RM10 billion could have built roads to Bario.

RM10 billion could have built several universities and funded hundreds of scholars, so our kids and sisters and brothers who aced their exams need not fight over university places or scholarships.

This is one of the real costs of corruption and of absolute power. And we all suffer in the end.

While the likes of Awang Selamat lament about the loss of status quo with such narrow, parochial views, the country is slowly sinking into the abyss. But of course Utusan doesn’t care. After all, it didn’t even bother running the story about the PKFZ fiasco.

Sorak la Awang. Jangan tak sorak. Kampung dah tergadai dah.

Deputy PM thumps him too HERE.

It's hard to imagine one who called himself an editor of a major newspaper can so so racist in his view. Is this guy a Nazi or what? He's certainly no communist because these days a communist is more civilized than him.

We should have more people like awang selamat, makes thing easier for people to hate Umno.At the same time the Malays will wake up to see how racist those buggers are.
It is amazing that utusan has been publishing racist, seditious news and comment and yet nothing happens.Way to go 1BlackMalaysia.

Awang Selamat is an animal. Utusan is shit. malaysians must tell these mutts they have no place in society. For Umno, the die is cast. Umno must go.

This Awang fella in comparison is like a huge heap of rubbish emancipating foul smell in an otherwise nice muhibbah neighbourhood. We should have gotong royong in our taman to get rid of such stench. Some people spit at it when they come across such stinking smell. A bastard or pariah is too mild a word to use!!!

As Zaid aptly commented, this SOB Awang Selamat thinks if he is feels threatened, UMNO is threatened, Malays are threatened. Don't think there is person by that name in Utusan, its fictional editor charactar used by UMNO thru Utusan to instigate Malays to think in certain way

Awang Selamat is a typical UMNOputra. He will sell his own mother if it will help UMNO and it's ilk remain in power and keep on plundering the nation's wealth. Don't worry, most Malay don't read Utusan anymore and most Malay hate being associated with UMNO. UMNo has become a haram word and anything associated with UMNO is haram to god fearing muslim malay. UMNO is not malay and malay is not UMNO. Funny ain't it, a so called Ultra Malay party uses an english acronym... UMNO...as fake as Zaki Azmi the chief Justice! As haram as Zambry the court MB! and as hypocrit as Mahadey a statesmen.

Utusan should lose their license under Printing/Publication Act for sedition!

It is through the graces of the Home Minister, the Prime Minister and the UMNO Supreme Council that Utusan has survived so long wihtout any censure from the "supposed" powers that be. Sometimes it makes me wonder if these are in fact the real powers. It would seem like they are immune from any sensitivites that these UMNO leaders themselves have occassionally displayed.

Awang Selamat cares a damn for Najib and his comedians in the cabinet let alone the UMNO supreme council. He knows he is quite safe writing the shit that he does. Does Najib dare rebut Awang? I don't think so. Even when Mahathir never dared, how can the new boy on the block even think of it.

Awang Selamat quite obviously only answers to someone other than any of the UMNO leaders that we know of. Who is the hidden hand who might just be more pwoerful than the self declared biggest warlord?

DRAGON says... Good posting . But i wonder if Mr shithole Awang will read this posting and also the comments.Let Utusan take a survey and find out how many bumiputera really cares about what they have published.

There's no friction among the "ordinary" people in this country. All the inter-
racial/religious/regional tensions are originated by the race based parties in
Malaysia with UMNO Baru as the "Godfather." This is a legacy of the colonialists.

I was born 1959 and have lived among diverse communities. It's normal for ordinary folk to relate to each other regardless of race/religion/region. There are good and bad traits in all people of whatever classification. I've best friends from all ethnic groups for whom I'd drop everything if they needed my help. There people people of my own ethnic group whom I'd not even let past the gate of my house compound. This
includes some of my relatives.

In summary, personal relationships have nothing to do with race/region/region etc. It's a personal chemisty: "Do I/you feel comfortable or not with you/me?"

p.s. In July 1969, in a kampung in Kuala Kangsar (Royal Town!!), a large group of Malays, Chinese, Indians and others gathered in front of a Malay house. Why?

Because the owner had put his small Black and White TV there. At that time it was the only TV for miles around.Almost the whole kampung gathered there to watch Neil Armstrong take "One Small Step for (a) man, One Giant Leap for MANKIND."

Punch line: This was just TWO MONTHS AFTER the infamous May 13, 1969. GOD is great!

Back in early 1990s during Anwar time I was an avid reader of Utusan Malaysia. I could find lot's of intelligent article that really worth reading.

During and after Anwar "mata lebam" episod, the Utusan Malaysia as an agent to change Malaysian especially Malay, had been hijacked. I found the articles in the newspaper very much "ampu and bodek" and non-objective toward nation building.

That when I stopped buying Utusan and other Malay newspaper (except Harakah) for that matter.

Will I ever buying Utusan? NO! NO! NO!

In the Mkini link, it was reported that -

Although Muhyiddin was 'not aware' of the article, he however said Utusan must respect the position of every race in the country.

Gosh! Even the DPM doesn't read Utusan???? Therefore, MY's retort must have been caused by the 'visible' public outcry emanating from blogs and/or new media.

*siiigghhhh*

When you have racist dickheads running Utusan Malaysia, what can one expect...to read quality articles?!
These a#seholes fail to realize, fanning racial hatred among different races in the country, will eventually benefit no one...immaterial which side of the political fence you are in.
Make up you bastards in Utusan, you days are numbered if you do speak the truth!
All your Twistings and Turnings will not get you anywhere, our intelligence far surpassed your poor standard articles.

God is fair.

From now on Indonesia will be on the rise while Malaysia will slide into an abyss.

Malaysia was given all the opportunities and resources to become great, but they misuse and abuse God's gifts. We must all 'thank' UMNO/BN's cockeyed and racist policies, ably aided and abetted by those institutions.

Ketuanan Bankrupt is what UMNO will get.

So very sad.

Muhyddin, don't just pay lip service. How about throwing the Sedition Act at Utusan?

What about ISA? Just give Chrismudin a call lah. Oops, sorry, ISA is for Communists and the Opposition only. Utusan is neither, sorry.

Utusan & Awang Selamat writing works were just one of many institutionalised racists in our country !

The first thing PR must do when they concurred putrajaya after the 13th GE is to stop issuing printing licence to Utusan & the other controlled main stream media. All media must be made fully independent to help our sick society in combatting corruptions, mismanagement, anti-social crime, ect..

They have been working for more than a half century to ensure that malays will always dislike, suspicous & hate the non-malays for their own UMNO/BN idiots) benefits & interests.

They're wasting public & taxpayer money to setup a special Ministry to look after people's unity & integration, and yet at the same time they could allow a person like Awang Selamat to poison the mind of our society !!.

Perhap, it is high time for TS Koh SK should ask his boss to sack this guy a.s.a.p , otherwise this kind of idiot will keep deteriote & spoil his ministry functions & duties to the nation !!! Alternatively, he should just resign as a sign that he could not tolerated with such idiot behaviour of BN's organ.

Go to the hell UMNO+BN & welcome PR to be next our next goverment !!

The problem, as I see it, is not from readers like u and me who can distinguish the right from wrong.

My business associates who do not read other than MSM, for example, are the worst affected by this kind of article.

These guys would be quoting the article as gospel truth. The makciks and pakciks would be listening and nodding their heads. Not necessary in agreement. But suffice to say that this racist topics are causing unnecessary tension.

My conclusion? only the uneducated would swallow this kind of talk. Si Luncai terjun dengan labu-labunya...

What about the other racist organisation filled with racists in the Biro Tetanga Negara? When will Zaid and others like him target the BTN before the likes of Muhyiddin can hear what is being complained about the BTN? We can all shout and scream, it looks like it will get no ear from any of the UMNO leaders.

Utusan M'sia is an Umno mouthpiece, they hv always being racists, nothing new.

But after 308, they get more extreme, more bold in fanning up racial hatres, obviously they r carrying out instructions from their Umno masters to do so, by looking at how they enjoy immunity from ISA or Sedition Act says it all...

Awang Selamat is a racist. Pure & simple. He would never admit that he practices an apartheid mindset. Why this guy will never have to face sedition charges is understood by all. He is an ass licker of UMNO big shots. I wonder whether he has any non-malay friends. Anyway, I don't read the filth from this newspaper anymore. Ever since they published a story abt "prostitutes" demonstrating in front of the parliament building in 1998. They never retracted that piece of filth. If Awang Selamat thinks the Malays have been betrayed, it's UMNO who is the ultimate betrayer. Face the truth, Awang. Look at the rot & degradation that's happening right now in Malaysia. Don't blame anyone else but UMNO who acted like mafia & destroyed many good oportunities to make this ocuntry great.

Can somebody post a picture of this fella awang selamat so that we can at least have a picture of how he looks like?
