THIS MORNING, I BECAME A VICTIM

YES, 11:40 am to be exact. I had just alighted from the car and heading towards the ATM machine and the next sensation was a vicious tug. But I had the last laugh. The snatcher snatched only the strap to my handbag! Yes, the gods were smiling at me. My handbag was tugged under my arm, safe. Just a nasty bruise on my inner elbow that some Savlon will heal.

So a couple of tips from this victim might help:

+ Before getting out of your car, look at rear mirror. Snatchers work in a pair.

+ Hang your handbag on your left shoulder away from traffic flow.

+ Never keep your wallet in your handbag....your pocket is definitely safer.

Snatch thieves
And the economy woes
Desperate people
Desperate needs

Feeding the hunger
Some lazy to find work
Living on the hard earned money
Of honest people living

Some are drug addicts
Way beyond redemption
Finding victims to feed habits
The wastages of lives
The society feels the losses

So we must be careful
Full of alert on the streets
It happened to me years ago
In the cinema in Klang
Got 6 stitches on my stomach
When I made my police report
I got shouted at by a female police officer
It was my second time dealing with the police
Though through the years I met OCPDs and CPOs

I was the victim
Yet I got no sympathy
It became a talk in the village
The news travelled fast those years ago

Now of course I am always alert
Driving and walking on the streets
Time has not changed much to these years
We will live to tell our tales won't we?

Was it, as they say in the UK, a man-bag?

Anonymous said...

You mean clutch bag? You're lucky you didn't lose your arm.

Unknown said...

Aiseyman, no time to give a flying helicopter kick ka? 2 or 3 years ago my wife fell victim.
Yes, keep the handbag on the inside, not outside.

zorro said...

Hand bag or man-bag. Just a bag with a strap with all my necessary rubbish in it.....but not a clutch bag.

Anonymous said...

Please learn from the women: Don use hand-bag nowadays. Keep money in small purse/wallet that fit jeans/pants/skirt's pocket.

Stay poor! That's even safer!

Coz you then have no reason to be walking into or out of banks and become easy prey for snatchers.

How poor, yer might say.

Divide RM12 billion with 26 million, amortized over the next 3 decades, works out to approx RM46 million per pax on our collective future impoverishment.

Thank you BN for keeping us peasants safe from the clutches of snatch thieves with this brilliant strategy which nobody else in this world could ever think of, let alone implement.

Geeez.. I gotta stop smoking funny ciggies.

P.S. Yer sure it wasn't a cop, Z?

Uncle Zorro,
Fortunately, you are not hurt.As for me, I carry a baton made from special hard-wood in my car placed next to my seat. Underneath my car seat, I have a Custom Made parang in case the baton failed me. On the top of that, I carry a Walther PPK (German-made) hand-gun, 9mm caliber tucked at my waist, just in case, both failed me.Nowadays, we have to protect ourselves. Cannot rely on the police. Kill or be Killed!! As I will always
remember the famous saying by my guru - "It's BETTER TO BE JUDGED BY NINE,(Jury)than CARRIED BY SIX(coffin)". If you NEED TO SHOOT, SHOOT TO KILL!! I have killed many, adding one or two more would NOT give me any nightmares. After all, these criminals are the scums of society.
Getting in & out of your car is the most critical moment where one is prone to attack. Alertness- is the key word when going to and leaving you car. Be aware of your surroundings at all times. Call it colour 'AMBER' when you are expose in the open. Change to 'RED' when for e.g going into the lift(day or night), or parking your car in secluded parking area(day or night). Practise this system as a HABIT and you will be okay. Green - will be when you are safely settled down at home. If there is a suspicious group of people near your car or waiting near a elevator, MOVE AWAY IMMEDIATELY for alternative route.

Frank....I have an allumium baseball bat. Used it only once on somebody's head and panicked. He did not die fortunately. I would love to have a Glock to shoot at snatchers.

Hawk....police are mostly at mamak stalls.

Is it that times are so bad that more people are getting hit?

Or are you a target, as you were a target in Ipoh not so long ago? (smile). Just a theory, feeling Holmes-ish at the moment!

Whatever, do take care!

Hi Zorro,

Glad you are ok with just bruises!

I was once a victim but I managed to pull back my handbag, just a reflex action, and the two nearly lost control of the bike, so the pillion had to release his grip of the handbag strap. Mat rempits wants the easy way out, who else!

Starmandala said...

Happy to hear nothing happened to your person or possessions apart from having to get a new strap for your bag. I dream of being a successful snatch thief... sneaking up to every purty gal on the street... and pinching their snatches! ;-)

that's right. blame everything on the police and BN.
stupid people making stupid comments.

Uncle Zorro,

So glad you are ok except for the bruise.

Just a couple of days ago a friend of mine was similarly attacked in an attempted robbery while boarding her car in front of a restaurant in SS2 - in broad daylight.

Luckily she and her kids got away unharmed, though the would-be robber bashed and damaged her car.

If the frickin' police could arrest criminals at the same rate that they've been arresting ordinary citizens and Pakatan lawmakers (160 in 3 weeks), we'd be safer than Singapore in no time. Notch up another outstanding achievement for the frickin' police.

They are getting very daring nowadays...!!!

All these only happens when there's "no" police in sight...!!!

Aren't the police also suppose to walk the streets...???
Don't see them doing that.

Must be very nice & cooling to just cruise around in their cars. You can see most of them in the stations too......!!!

Let's all be careful yah.......!

TheWhisperer said...

Why would they wanna snatch from a retiree?

Uncle, your Prada handbag, clutch bag, man bag or whatsoever, is worth much more than its content aside from your pipe and tobacco bag.

Am surprise that you didn't use your 3-sequence moe to break their head.

Unker Z,

Glad to know that u didn't get hurt or lost ur bag to the snatcher...

Happened to my fren in front of my eyes 2 yrs ago, his laptop got snatched by a Mat-Rempit, it all happened in a split second, when we woke up from the stun n gave chase to him, he sped off on his cup-cai he very skillfully controlled n balanced his bike with only 1 hand on the handle, the other hand still holding the laptop bag's sling, it's easy to guess that he's a Mat-Rempit.

Please be more careful, Uncle Bernard. We all have to. No surprise to see our social fabric being torn to bits. Economic fabric torn to bits. Political fabric torn to bits. Well, see you at Uncle Raju's house for Deepavali this year.

What snatch thief?

Where we stand in crime statistics - we are even better then Hong Kong and where else?

Our country is BLISSFULLY free of crime !

If you ask Lee Lam Thye - we can't hold the government overly responsible for the peace & security.

We as ordinary rakyats has to be personally responsible - so, Zorro have you been careless and given the snatch thief the opportunity?

P.S. I hope you detected my attempt at sarcasm, I am glad you are unhurt.

zorro said...

Gan, oh yes that sarcasm cuts deep. Don't you think Baghdad is much safer, no?

Yes, I committed the capital sin of taking things for granted and that they target only women. I have learnt my lesson, thus the three precautions I posted about. Thanks for caring.
