MY FRIDAY GUEST BLOGGER: YB WEE CHOO KEONG

YB WEE CHOO KEONG is my type of politician, fearless, forthright, decisive. This Former DAP MP for Bukit Bintang lost his seat when he fell out with the DAP. He has taken a court case against former CJ Fairuz for taking away his BB seat. Because politics ran in his blood, he formed the Malaysian Democratic Party. However, in the 2008 elections he stood under PKR and won the Wangsa Maju Parliamentary Constituency. I remember attending a few of his ceremahs and I will not forget that I told him that he should speak the Kelantanese dialect in future ceremahs. Of course nobody will forget that he was counsel for Lingam's brother during the Royal Commission on the Lingam tapes. He was a thorn where the Panel was concerned and he continues to be a thorn in Parliament with his QUESTIONS and a thorny scourge to DBKL. I selected him today because of a recent expose. It is in Bahasa HERE, but I produce the StarOnline summary:

Ministries accused of

awarding projects

to Taiwanese

AN Opposition MP has accused three ministries of awarding local projects and contracts to two Taiwanese nationals.

Wee Choo Keong (PKR — Wangsa Maju) claimed that the two were close associates of certain politicians and that they had even obtained Malaysian identity cards.

The two, he further alleged, had also been involved in the setting up of many Malaysian companies with local nominees as their main shareholders or directors.

One company had been formed to issue invoices alone for the income gained from their businesses, he added.

Wee said these nominee companies had been used by the two individuals as a front to avoid having to pay taxes to the Internal Revenue Board (IRB).

“The two had successfully formed Daro Worldwide Sdn Bhd, which won a direct contract and was given RM3.8mil to operate a call centre for the Tourism Ministry.

“The invoices from the company’s activities had been sent to a bank account in Hong Kong.

“The IRB should investigate this matter and find out if the company had paid taxes,” he said when debating the Internal Revenue Board of Malaysia (Amendment) Bill 2008.

Wee said another company Venturepharm Sdn Bhd had been used by one of the two Taiwanese to obtain projects from the Science, Technology and Innovation Ministry.

“Venturepharm had been given a RM5.6mil biofeed project despite it not having any expertise in research work in biofeed programmes,” he added.

Wee said the two had also formed a company to handle a contract related to mobile clinics from the Health Ministry.

Wee is one of the few incorrptible politicians around. He is one person who dares to take on the great LIm Kit Siang. He is one person who dares to take on corrupt Umno and MCA thugs at the risk of his own life. Here was a man, whences comes another.

We are in a country where hard drinks are haram to the Muslims. Now there are Muslims who are joined with us to this difficult struggle against the racist and corrupt UMNO/BN. I have also noticed that often when you mention meetings with Muslims like RPK, you make references to wines and spirits (hard drinks). I just hoped that in future you would not embarrass your Muslim brethrens or make things more difficult for them than necessary. Enemies may make accusations against them for being in the company of whisky swigging infidels. Now if I write about me being in some activities with you a Catholic, would it be nice for me to mention we celebrate with a visit to the brothel?

This is a simple thing to do. Just leave out references to whisky, brandy, beer etc in your posting. It will not make your postings any less attractive but shows respect to their religion.

I just wish Wee Choo Keong will be more circumspect with his vitriol against his former DAP compatriots

to PR Supporter,
Lighten-up will you ? Just as we sit in a mixed group of friends and have a few malts does not mean everyone(including muslims) are also having the malt !There is an absolute respect for each other to decide their choice of drinks (whether alcohol or non-alchohol !)
Why do you have to be so pretentious ? Even the Tok Guru sits and eats in a Chinese restaurant-(I was witness to that in KT and in Bkt. Gantang ) AND he has specially prepared halal food by a muslim !He is not a hypocrite and states firmly that we are living in a plural society and being in a place where they serve pork does not make him a bigger sinner then you are.

But you and I visiting a brothel....hmmmm, that's a different story, yes ? Why do you wanna be in a brothel ? To buy chewing gums or vegetables ?
Get you mind tuned please...don't live in a wraped-up mind-set! I grew up or rather we ALL grew-up okay with very different religious beliefs and customs....until some of us started being(in later years)"holier then thou" and liken to be emulating the Talibans !

Shheeees....get real man !
And with all due respect to you sir, you are welcome to have a drink of your choice with me, the next time you feel thirsty and needed company anywhere.
Cheers !

For ShanghaiSteven,

You are entitled to your swill and your say, but can't I just make a simple request to leave out mention of stuff like Old Pulteney etc when writing about events where Muslims are present. Not too hard is it?
