I was surprised to receive this invitation:

Conference of Christian Mission Schools in Malaysia

Invitation to Official Opening

Saturday, June 27, 2009

10:00am – 12”00pm

at St. John’s Institution,

Jalan Bukit Nanas

The Malayan Christian Schools' Council (MCSC) and the Mission School Authorities of Sabah and Sarawak under the auspices of the Christian Federation of Malaysia cordially invite you to the opening of the Conference of Christian Mission Schools in Malaysia by YAB Dato' Seri Mohd. Najib Tun Abdul Razak, the Prime Minister of Malaysia.

This conference is a historic event because for the first time, the mission school authorities and leaders are coming together to set up a joint body which will represent all mission schools in this country thus enhancing our contribution towards the nation.

The fact that the Prime Minister himself has graciously consented to officiate at the opening ceremony and address the gathering is indicative of the significance attached to this event.

Your attendance, therefore, at this special occasion is most important and would be deeply appreciated. It would signal the solidarity of all parties involved in Christian Mission Schools - Government officials, Church leaders, Boards of Governors, PTAs, Alumni, Principals and teachers.

We look forward to welcoming you to St. John's Institution on Saturday 27 June 2009.

Thank you.

Yours sincerely,

Yap Kok Keong
Chairman of the Organising Committee.

I Will Not Attend This Function.

Over the years since visit to China was allowed I have had numerous OFFERS (and gratis, at that) to visit China. I have refused on all occasions. The reason is very simple: I will not visit a country that kills its own people, read Tiananmen Square.

As such, I will not attend any functions graced by the PM unless he clears his name and that of our nation, by taking to court The UK’s Sunday Times, the International Herald Tribune, the French daily, Libération, The Australian Financial Review, the Far Eastern Economic Review and the New York Times since all have published stories raising questions about the link between the C4ed Altantuya, Dato’ Seri Najib, and the gigantic commission paid out by the French company Armaris to a Malaysian company for the purchase of submarines. These periodicals have stripped this country naked and yet the PM is not doing one bit to address these accusations.

Tengku Razaleigh was implicated during the Bank Bumiputra scandal when he was Finance Minister. He sued and won against all the three periodicals HERE .

What? visit China is also an issue to you? You foolish old man, you better don't wear your underwear because I am sure it has the MADE IN CHINA label.

I have also refused many trips to China because I do not respect a country which has no respect for civil rights and kills its own citizens who refused to acquiesce to the state. Similarly, I will not attend a function graced by a person who does no command respect. Bravo.

The last time Najis officiated a DO like this was in Perak. Immediately after that, he hijacked the whole state. Word of caution to Lasallian Brothers and fellow christians, after this DO, don't be surprised when (I did not say IF) najis hijack the christian mission schools and transform them into muslim mission schools. And I will say to you padam muka.

Bernard

I think you should go. Not to honour the PeedM but more to connect with the organisers, the Christian Mission Schools.

I have been advocating to them that they take back their schools from the clasps of the MOE. They can. After all the school license to operate is granted to the Board of Governors. And the constitution of the Board is substantially made up of people from the congregation and the license is issued in the name of the Chairman of the board who normally is also the local Parish priest.

It is possible to privatise all the mission schools to offer the curriculum advocated by the MOE. The privatised Mission Schools do not have to charge the exorbitant profiteering fees that the commercially orientated Private schools charge. And yet they can still make a profit..not for creaming the profit ...but to reinvest in offering scholarships and so on.

After all in terms of a community school , the Mission Schools do and can represent a Community School to all who belong to that community or to all who wish to be educated under the ethos and pedagogy advocated and subscribed for and operated in these schools.

Bernard, it is more important for you to be there to advocate this or something to this effect than to make a point of not attending just to snub your PM!!!

End of Music, I see you point there.

Zorro, I am a bit surprised with your respond to End of Music. Instead of being diplomatic, you have gone all out offensive! Is that necessary?

What is wrong visiting China? The issue of Tianamen Square was created by just a handfull of top politicians in China, and you want the entire 1.30B people to suffer just because of that? Your PM was accused of having blood in his hands, and if your principle is so strong what are you doing there? Shouldn’t you be out of the country by now too?

Singapore ISA a politician (Chia Thye Poh) for 23 years just few years shorter than Nelson Mandela, when was the last time you were in Singapore? Perhaps you have never been there either, I suppose.

Australia has only recently said sorry to the stolen generation for the suffering (raped, murdered etc) they have endued on them for more than 200 years. I suppose you have never visited Australia too. That good principle (for you) I suppose

Soharto murdered thousand of ethnic Chinese during the mid 60s. Again, I don’t think you have been there either. That is good too.

As you had touched on the Altantuya topic, are you looking to migrate too? Just be very careful when picking which country you are going to. Not many countries on this earth have that kind of clean records you are looking for.

I read your postings every now and then, but if you dare to ditch it out, you should be able to take it in too. If not, then what’s the point of allowing comments on your site (provided these are not spasm, abusive etc!)

I have to agree with End of Music….you are really an old fool (with that kind of message - June 23, 2009 2:37am)!

I suppose I am a new prick to you too.

Apologies to End of Music. I did fly off the handle. 2:30am is definitely not a good time to reply to comments. I am sorry.

This is like playing Double Jeopardy, bro. Goddam missionaries messed around with the indigenous people's spiritual bonds with their ancestral land by filling their heads with silly notions from a book... and now they've invited the Chief Umno Demon to officiate at their event... quick, string up some garlic, folks....

Before the Christian mission takes over (if they do) make sure they have the right approach towards running schools. I happen to know quite a few of them and they are as political and bias as any other political parties. Can't anyone for once let capable people run the schools and not base promotions by race and religion and love the kids irregardless of background? Until this is internalised, it is just out of the pot into the fire. Thank you for allowing me to comment, Zorro.
I am but a former teacher around your vicinity.

I think it is better for u to accept the invitation. No doubt, u may have a score to settle with PM6 but I was made to understand that PM6 is a Mission school product.

Pls make use of that occassion to get the government to fund the mission schools now instead of aiding them halfway (which in reality is halfway to nowhere). Look at the La Salle and other mission schools which are in dilipated state and the government (read PM 6) must start pouring money to upgrade the schools. Afterall, the government has take over the schools so they better maintain the schools.

On ur decision to decline invitation to go to China, different people has different stand on issues close at heart. Although I may not agree with ur reasoning, I respect u for ur decision. Hey, don't feel bad..I have decline offers to go to Indonesia too, not because of how they treat their citizens but more of not being stamped as "mata keranjang" and "pleasure seekers" , if u get what i mean...:)

To forgive is divine but to forget is entirely your choice ! Thus, no one can make that decision for you whether to go or not to go. You need to decide it solely.

As for me, I would rather stay away from such function as it is the big boy game. To rub shoulder with the high and mighty of society but in the sight of God could just be another broken soul or vessel.

The govt syas one thing but the small napoleons will implement it otherwise and we are left puzzle whether the agenda was from the govt of the day or the decision came from napoleon's.

Take time to talk to christians from Sabah and learn what their children went through in govt boarding schools.

I absolutely agree with Old Fart and Kai.

You may not like the man, his leadership, his political motivations, his policies etc. Neither do many of us.

But you do have to accept the office/power/influence he holds and the capacity for decision-making that affect our society hence, the POTENTIAL for making a Malaysia a better place.

His mere presence at this conference acknowledges the existence and implicitly the significance of mission schools. All the more significant are the following facts:

1) Najib himself, as well as his brother are products of a mission school. Specifically, St John's Institution is their Alma Mater.

2)In the recent Asian Christian Teacher's Conference, (held last Saturday)Bro Augustine representing the Archbishop Murphy in the opening address, revealed that Najib WASN'T invited. He himself asked to attend when he heard of the conference.

Bernard, do pause to ponder the significance of this little fact.

Furthermore, consider how the choice of the venue was arrived at. Being the PM and all, with all the attending protocol and trappings of formality and grandeur often associated with VVIPs of Bolehland, you would expect the venue to be some posh 6 star hotel. But no, the organisers wisely chose to hold it at SJI. Why? Simple and wise reasoning which is, since Najib himself ASKED TO ATTEND, he must have some fond sentiment for SJI, which is a mission school. Therefore organisers, astutely decided to hold the Conference at his Alma Mater to bring him back to his roots.

We should not be so blinded by our prejudices, however well founded they may be, that we instantly and arbitrarily rule out any possibility for positive things to happen.

Why the hell is Najib the guest of honor? I smell a bodek issue here, bodek for funding perhaps. How can, you Christians, in your right mind, invite a person, who is the head of a racist and bigotted political party, UMNO? Did he not support the call to ban you guys from using the word 'Allah', regulates your publications, continuous harassment etc etc. A suspected accomplice to murder (silence is admission of guilt).

Zorro, I am with you here. I too recently walked out of the Asian Oil and Gas Conference opening the moment Jibby walks in. The stench was too great to bear. I am sure you can smell it too Zorro.

Perhaps the forum can write in to Jibby telling him not to come as his presence may slight the Majlis Agama Islam Selangor (MAIS) as he will be called an apostate. Afterall he may taint himself by mixing with low lifes (Najib's definition not mine) as he is from that Ketuanan Melayu mindset ( a bit like Nazism). Then perhaps Zorro will attend. Quick, get the letter out asap.

It is very important for all Xavierians, former teachers, the PTA, NGO’s and especially Christian organizations such as the Catholic Church to safeguard the character and identity of SXI from the possible Talibanization by Little Mullahs in the form of Principals…More http://margeemar.blogspot.com/2009/06/seven-forbidden-acts-of-stxaviers.html

It is better to attend and let us know how you felt and your thoughts.
See and observe how a liar will lies without twitching his eye lids.
If dont like his face , can go to the loo have a cigar while listening to what the suspected murderer have to say.
Zorro, be our eyes and ears, represent us.
Tell us about it and we can poke his poker face.
