MOST POWERFUL IN MALAYSIA?

“Without the power to prosecute, only the attorney-general (AG) can give consent to charge someone. Maybe this has to be (re-examined).” Shafee Yahaya, former ACA Director General.

Bernard,

Yes, (through his wife's family, an old friend of mine, the late Tan Sri Taib Andak's daughter), Dato' Shafee Yahaya, former ACA Director General was a Straight forward Sincere & Honest person who tried his best to do his assignments diligently then...

Sadly under Madey, all his reports ended up at the PeeM's department where there were only two final conclusions/destinations...

Turn Left, it was Madey, family & cronies...

Turn Right, it was Daim, family & cronies...

So his efficiency & naiveness got him "Trapped" by Madey (He Who held the PEN!) & so Shafee lost!

Just to share these...

'Ex-ACA chief Shafee should stand tall and proud for the clean and efficient legacy he left behind in his service to the country.'

THE RULE OF LAW AND THE LAW OF RULES: A SEMI-SCEPTICAL PERSPECTIVE
THURSDAY 29 JULY 2010

The Hon. Michael Kirby AC CMG

“This is the fifteenth law conference of the Malaysian Bar Association...

Moreover, we lawyers know that there are many forms of law which may be upheld, and even arguably comply with the external requirements of the rule of law, and yet be a repository for very large and effectively unreviewable decision-making by governments or other powerful interests:..

The power to prosecute or not to
prosecute for criminal offences is one such instance.

Both in Malaysia, in decisions to prosecute for sedition offences, and in Australia, prosecutorial discretions are generally left untouched by the courts although sometimes the decision to prosecute may effectively determine the outcome of the case41;...

“Even for lawyers, law is not enough.

It is the content and justice of law that matters.

Ours is the special responsibility to ensure that law is just and protective of human dignity.

Law is not, or should not be, simply for the wealthy.

Law is, or should be, for all.

It is not just for the popular and the acclaimed.

It is for the vulnerable and the disadvantaged.

We must never forget this.

And conferences like this one provide us with the occasion to re-dedicate ourselves.

And to re-affirm the universality and integrity of our discipline publicly before each other, before our fellow citizens and before the watching world.” Unquote.

You be the judge.

Cheers.

THIS MAN HAS WRECKED MANY INNOCENT LIVES AND THEIR FAMILIES...HE SHOULD NOT BE LET OFF LIGTLY AND MADE TO ANSWER FOR HIS CRIMINAL ACTIVITIES! I FERVENTLY PRAY, THAT DAY WILL COME....

Zorro, You failed to mention that the P.M.'s consent is needed before any of the corrupted Umno leaders and warlords get charged !
Can you also give just the name one of the many corrupted Umno who got charged during shenanigan Mahathir 23 years tenure as P.M. ?
No, and you know why ? That was because he needed their support in Umno to remain as Umno President and consequently as P.M. of Malaysia to continue 'to receive his commissions'.
That was the reason he implemented the many mega projects during his tenure so to receive his mega commissions and have the ill gotten gains parked in Europe.

Why is it that all the high ranking civil servants say the most appropriate and common sense things after they are retired from their high positions but practice the total opposite when they were in charge? These retired high ranking civil servants have no maruah.

Anon431pm....Shafee was cold-storaged personally by Mahthir who also told him to stop investigating the EPU. He spoke out and was "retired".
