SOMEBODY WENT BONGKERS BY SUGGESTING A UNITY GOVERNMENT IN PERAK!

NEVER, NEVER, take for granted that because you hold some high position, legal or otherwise, you can make edicts that are self-serving. Read on:

From an Anak Bangsa Malaysia/ comrade....

Dear All,

This is a good piece by Hannah Yeoh, a young and intelligent ADUN just
back from the USA where she was one of two Malaysians picked by the US
Embassy to attend Obama's inauguration. Her thoughts on the Anwar-Najib
defection comparisons re Perak Crisis is sharp and most relevant. I am
most glad I voted her as my ADUN in Subang Jaya. Malaysia needs more
young, intelligent leaders like her.

A mockery of our democratic institution
To those who argue that the political crisis in Perak now is a taste of
Pakatan's own medicine (referring to the Sept 16 takeover plan), they
have failed to see the key differences between the two. If you remember
what happened when Dato' Seri Anwar Ibrahim claimed to have the numbers
to form the new federal government, he wrote to PM Datuk Seri Abdullah
Ahmad Badawi requesting him to convene an emergency sitting of
Parliament. This was rejected by the PM. The next constitutional option
is to press for the dissolution of Parliament to make way for fresh new
elections. That was also not entertained. Anwar Ibrahim exhausted the
constitutional means that were available to him. If Pakatan were to act
unconstitutionally and lure defections, then we will be having a new
government today. But we didn't and we will not act unconstitutionally.
So you can't say that Najib's coup and Pakatan's plan were one and the
same.

Some may also say, well what about the earlier defection of Bota
assemblyman, Datuk Nasarudin Hashim? Why did Pakatan Rakyat accept him?
Why not force his seat to be vacated for a by-election? Let's keep things
in perspective here. His defection was that of an opposition lawmaker to
a governing lawmaker. His defection did not alter the balance of power in
the State Assembly. Pakatan Rakyat remained as government, and BN as
opposition. Status quo. Logically and intelligently, anyone can safely
assume that Pakatan Rakyat didn't need a defection from BN. Thus, he
defected on his own accord and on his own will. There was no need for
Pakatan Rakyat to force him to vacate his seat as he did not win the seat
on a Pakatan ticket. The Pakatan government really has no standing in
forcing him to vacate a seat which wasn't earned by Pakatan in the first
place!

I must say that I had great respect for Sultan Azlan Shah. Until
yesterday. I wonder how he could possibly consent to the formation of a
new BN state government when constitutionally, a government is still in
place. And to even approve to a new Menteri Besar when the existing one
is still in office? How can any state have 2 heads of government at any
one time? There can only be one Menteri Besar of Perak. This is a
mockery. The Menteri Besar can only be removed by the State Assembly via
a vote of no-confidence or via the dissolution of the assembly. And none
of these two constitutional means has been requested by BN. How can
anyone claim that Najib and Anwar are one and the same?

Next, the Sultan called for a "unity" government to be formed by BN and
the Independents. Let's be clear about this. The Independents are in no
way legally bound to represent BN. Well, at least not yet, not till they
officially become members of a BN component party. All that the Sultan
and Najib has from them is a verbal assurance that "we will be friendly
to BN".. And just by appearing in a press conference with Najib, it
justifies the change of government? What if next week these Independents
were to be seen in a press conference with Pakatan? A real "unity"
government envisioned by the Sultan should have been an all-inclusive
government of Pakatan, BN, and the Independents. Pakatan and BN each have
28 seats, and the Independents 3.. Thus, no single party or coalition has
a commanding majority. If there is to be a "unity" government, it calls
for a new coalition of PR-BN-Ind which is impossible. Thus, what the
Sultan has called for is simply a name without substance. What "unity" if
it's going to consist of only single-minded representatives - all
"friendly to BN"? That's not a "unity" government, it's a BN government.
This is a mockery of the intelligence of Malaysians. A beginning of what
is to come with this PM-to-be.

THIS REFLECTS GOOD BREEDING

COMPARED TO THE TRAITOR

FROM JELAPANG.

Bernard,

I have a suggestion and we need to seriously look into it happening.

Congress of India has had Sonia Ghandi and Manmohan Singh. Why cannot Malaysia make a double whammy of that.....

NIZAR for PM while ANWAR becomes Sonia and helps in the reforming and cleaning up of the bad habits. He would be the best person for this while NIZAR administers. I think BARISAN RAKYAT is ready for that and i think MALAYSIANS ARE READY. The role played by Anwar bringing the PAS, DAP and Keadilan together is more important now. Let us the pass the PM's job to Nizar......

RAHMAN theory..........."NIZAR" to be the next PM. Lets go for it. ANWAR will always be the MAN no matter what but let NIZAR administer MALAYSIA like what he did in Perak.

Hannah Yeoh is one of the bright sparks that the DAP discovered. Let's hope she has a great future in the party who has a history of in fighting that has resulted in many of their stalwarts leaving the party in the past.

i have always considered her to be one of the bright young sparks in our murky and byzantine political world. And I am not wrong. She talks sense, she is cosmopolitian. And she does not pander to racists. She is truly Anak Malaysia. If only we have more of these people in our beautiful country, instead of educated thugs like Khairy Jamaluddin and Umno morons. be that as it may, we have a long way to go before we can achieve our stated goals. But we will continue to fight on, we will continue to struggle against racism, bigotry, stupidity. We will prevail. It's a long and winding road, full of pitfalls, full of potholes, full of traitors (I dont think I need to mention who). But we will triumph. Because in the end, truth will out and lies will be exposed. Zorro, fight on, do not despair, do not be cowed by cowards who dare not finish the journey. We will march on to victory. A beautiful victory.

Don't feel like living in Malaysia as the government as well as the civil servants(top dogs), the police(top dogs), the military(top dogs) all in one. Sicko!!!
The only way to change is to have another round of civil war or a revolution - why not?
No need to be gentlemen ma...!!!

Zorro, Spot on!, I too voted for her in Subang and its gratifying that Hannah can think much better than all the umno crooks put together!

The early haze in the city
It doesn’t wait in July
It comes so early in the Bull
The early fall of the back doors union

The good, the bad, the ugly and con people
Riding high feeling no remorse
The 3 men and a woman
Greed for them failing the voters trust

The dreams don’t come easy
They have to watch where they go
Now two guys get health problems
Else it is an excuse to escape punishment

The woman will know her fate
What she did for greed
When the voters spell her their terms
Time she wakes up make her choice again
It isn’t too late for her
Change her ways don’t get the tag of running dog
She is a disgrace not fighting for noble reasons

The con man can’t escape
Double quick after his lies
Payback will arrive
The 3 men and a woman
The early haze arrives

Bonkus??? Hey wait a minute.. I thought it should be 'bonkers' unless this 'new' term is meant for the higher ups on the food chain.

Oh well, just imagine 'wank.us' to replace 'wank.ers' and we'd have a new blog-word in the works, eh Z.

Hehehe! No joke, no fun meh.

Nizar for PM? Sounds good to me. Sooo.. is there a gameplan?

If you have the money, everything can be bought...human weakness. The 3 frogs that jumped over are definitely, not people with substance and principle..the least, they could have done was to resign totally from politics. This was no done, it simply reflect on their dodgy character and greed.
The Sultan has over stepped his power and showing no respect to the highest authority of the State...the State Constitutions and Assembly.
His role is a figure head and take the advise from the MB in State matters. He should not only be seen neutral but, to safeguard the rights of his subjects. He has erred and failed.
The sultan was the Lord President before and a judge, there is no excuse.

Bernard,

What the bright spark Hannah justified was the acceptance of the bota assemblyman without a by-election,isn't that the spirit of this forum. In principle, and if Pakatan had it, they would not have accepted him without a by-election, irrespective of whether or not his entry could topple the ruling state govt. In this respect Pakatan are guilty of the crime they have charged BN with. So really my friend, we are screwed on both sides of the divide.

She is not the only one. So many of us Malaysians have been trying to drive home the very same points only to fall on deaf and dumb ears. It would seem that nothing constitutional or legal matters anymore. The majority of the rakyat have been calling for the abolishment of ISA but when things started happening in Perak, many of those who called for the ISA to be scrapped have called for Karpal to be arrested under the ISA. We Malaysians no longer have freedom of speech, freedom of press, freedom of choice let alone freedom to express our dissatisfaction. We are no better than the Palestinians fighting the Israeli's. Sticks and stones against modern day weapons.

All of you who are supporting Hannah who is so immature in her arguement here are really naive and biased to the core.Yes, you too zorro.
The issue at hand is not about Anwar requesting the sleepy head PM to convene an emergency session or calling for the dissolution of parliament to helm the governtment through defection.

The issue is about the integrity of those frogs who want to defect. Its morally and ethically wrong to encourage defection that too getting people from BN,who have been indoctrinated by UMNO for umpteen years. What makes you folks think that these frogs are genuine and are not expecting any rewards either in cash or kind?Aren't we the rakyat looking for a change?A fundamental and a radical change, not mere window dressing. As a PR supporter I am disssapointed whith such attitude.

Did PR expected towin 5 states and reduce the 2/3rd majority of the corrupt BN govt, when they went to the polls in march 2008?Of course not,its a windfall, mandated by the rakyat. So they must work hard and govern those 5(NOW 4)states efficiently and deliver. The deeds are what will make the rakyat to vote in PR in big numbers come the next election.Dont emulate all the dirty stuff folllowed by BN,the people are sick and tired,be different, work for the people honestly and be transparent.

Be brave and magnanimous to accept the mistakes only then can we move ahead.Dont adopt the denial syndrome of those BN scums, lest we will incur the wrath of the rakyat.I personally have worked very hard and spend enough dollarsto get most of my family members, friends and even strangers alike to vote for PR in all the elections so far.But so far I am dissapointed with them, instead of delivering and working hard in all those states they are controlling,I see Anwar, only busy with his frog searching and boasting when that UMNO frog leaped over, only to get a slap on the face hardly 10 days later.

Folks, please dont repeat the same mistake we did before with BN,remember politicians are always politicians,we the rakyat have to provide the checksand balances.Demand for transparency and open discussions, the moment we leave things to politicians per se,we the rakyat will be sidelined after that we have only ourselves to blame. We all must support our PR leaders but dont do it religiously,as we are all still navigating in uncharted waters.God Bless.

I totally agree with Urban Green that Nizar be the PM and Anwar be the advisor to the PM... After seeing Nizar's interview with Malaysian Insider, i have total confidence in him to be a PM and leader for all races. He is a great guy and very professional leader. Altough i am an Indian i got no problem Nizar a PAS man being the PM for Malaysia and the leader for me. Everyone has to change the prespective they have on PAS from today. They are not an extremist Islamist Party, they are PAS for all.

One piece of information that Hannah left out. The 3 frogs signed a pledge to the Crown Prince pledging loyalty to PR. Now they have done an about face so what is there to suggest that they will remain "friendly" to BN in the future. Additionally, 2 of these grogs are subjected to corruption charges. Does the Sultan already know the charges will be dropped or that they will win their cases?

Lots of unanswered questions but yes, she is indeed a bright spark in a somewhat dim political environment

i use to wonder how this fomer Lord President who is supposed to be learned got con by those umno crooks?Unless he is coning out with his true colours which he supports a racist government. The trouble with this umno puks and this royal lord are not interested to see equality in this cyber age.Perhaps they like to lord over the chinese and the indians to flex their power.
It's mind bogling that this royal could not care a damm about his perakians.Even an uneducated fool in the street can see his wrong.
How ironic!

Not just another pretty face... Should have more people like her in DAP and its component parties. Wish I was living in her constituent, as she thinks first before opening her mouth and her actions.

Too bad there are more chaff in her party than gems. A lot of good people do not want to enter politics.

I love Hannah...she is one of the brightest sparks around. But I believe she made a few mistakes here.
I voted PR and would continue to support them, but I don't agree with some of her views here.
First of all, the fact that Anwar did not take over is not because he was trying to exhaust all constitutional means. It is just that he does not have the numbers. He never did. Not a single party president ever saw this supposed list of his. Why? Simply because it didn;t exist. He was trying to bluff, that's all! I know Anwar and well, too. It was a poker player's bluff.
Secondly, it does not matter whether Bota assemblyman leaving to join PKR was from an opposition to the government. The fact of the matter is, the people in his constituency voted him in, so he was cheating them by jumping to the other side. The excuse that it did not make a difference to the state government, while true, should not be a factor. If they are to stand by their issue that PR assemblymen must resign if they jump ship, then they must stand by principles that the Bota bugger should have resigned as well! It is a matter of principle. You cannot have one set of principles for one side and another set for the other.
And it is even worse when we have national leaders praising Bota for crossing over and then cursing the PR idiots who crossed over! That is double standards at its worst!!
What it all boils down to is that there should be anti-hopping laws in place. The law should state that if you intend to switch sides, you MUST resign your seat and a by-election MUST be called. It is as simple as that. If you are an elected rep, your duty is to the people in your constituency. It does not matter if you're from BN or PR, and it does not matter if you're from the goverment, whether federal or state, or whether you're in the opposition. It does not even matter whether your jumping ship has any effect on the standing of the government of the day.
The leaders of both sides should be ashamed of themselves for condoning the frogging, whether in the first instance when the idiot from Bota jumped, or the second instance when he jumped back and was accompanied by the two PKR idiots and the DAP woman.
Anyone who says otherwise, and that includes Hannah whom I do love, is either trying to pull the wool over our eyes or not in full control of their senses!!!!
