HISTORIC MILESTONE REACHED

To a massively overwhelming audience at the Ocean Restaurant, visiting Chief Minister of Penang, the charismatic Lim Guan Eng revealed that Pakatan has reached a milestone in their coalition. He told the audience:

"If any problems occur, we will resolve it through musyawarah, that is through discussions. All three parties must hold discussions. And if a consensus is not reached, it must be discussed again. This means, should PKR and PAS agree to implement hudud and DAP disagrees, then it cannot be implemented. Everything must be discussed until all three parties agree."

Literally, it means that , PAS, DAP and PKR made history by agreeing that any policy decision must be made through consensus. A simple majority is not enough. All three -- PAS, DAP and PKR -- have to agree on whatever policy matters. Even if there were one dissenting voice, this would mean the policy would not be accepted. It must be all three or nothing at all. And this will include matters related to Islam and whatever comes with Islam, Islamic laws or Hudud included.

SYABAS PAKATAN RAKYAT

Got to go.....got news that the Menteri Besar has ordered DAP to close down their Operations Centre. Go to witness these childish pranks of an already defeated BN. Looks like the 7000 police and two horses did not intimidate the people of KT.......

will be back soon

Hi Bernard

Its very heartening to hear of this milestone as it shows maturity, rationality and savvy in understanding Malaysia in the context of its multi-racial, -cultural, and -religious prism.
PAS and PKR, especially DSAI, should appreciate the sincerity and efforts of the hordes of DAP leaders who make their way to that little corner up there in the north east part of Malaysia, not to mention the large number of bloggers who are involved in the cause too. They all want a secular state which translates into a more liberal society and justice and fairness for all.
I salute you all up there. We down here will be joining you very soon. So leave some handshakes for us:)

Each passing day reveals that Umno simply cannot abide by the idea of sharing power and working towards a common goal for the whole nation - their leaders are testosteronal patriarchs with egos ten times bigger than their balls and they don't know the meaning of "fair play." Such bad losers will only lose more - because they don't deserve to win!

Get it right, Bernard. It's the "rakyat". Period.
Barisan Rakyat? What "Barisan Rakyat" is Bernard Khoo talking about?

Malaysiakini named the "rakyat" as the newsmaker of the year and NOT "Barisan Rakyat", a term coined by a few anti-Government activists. In actual fact, it was just the plain "rakyat" who brought about the changes that we saw in 2008. I wish Bernard will not put a spin to it and call it "Barisan Rakyat".

Many or even a majority I would say voted for the Opposition not because the Opposition is good but because they were angry with the Government led by Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi. I don't think they are turncoats. I am sure Dato' Sri Mohd Najib Tun Razak will remedy the situation when he takes over.

Kudos also to bloggers who managed to change a few things during the year.

Happy New Year.

Zorro Sir,

That is the most amusing piece I've read today.

A consensus can be reach in a musyawarah between the tiger, the cattle and a stack of hay???...

This I gotta see.

A friend on holiday from Australia just came back from Trengganu, said he couldn't believe it that Trengganu looks more like a 'police state' with road blocks everywhere. How desperate can they get?

Did you hear that Tourism and Health Ministers Azalina and Liow? If you think chikungunya outbreak alone will scare tourists away, you are so wrong. Ask the Home Minister Alblur why is he intimidating the rakyat as well as foreign tourists?!

Salam Ashraf,

The mark of a wise general is to respect his oponent, the mark of the vanquished is to bury his head in the sand, and not face up to reality.

You have 0 basis to say that UMNO will recover when Dato Seri Najib takes over. What I see, is that UMNO has yet to come out with a proper counter strategy to the e-media. As a fellow member, I welcome you to http://padedoh.wordpress.com where I have analyzed certain pitfalls in terms of tactics, message and strategy which I think can be improved.

Perhaps we can have a better discussion there.

Am happy that DAP managed to pull in a huge group of KT folks.
Am also happy that DAP have to "close" their temp KT office.
Believe me that the order to close is a good thing. KT folks will not forget it that saad ordered the closure.
It made DAP more popular.
It also made stronger ties between PAS and DAP.
