My old friend, Zorro. Since you started your blog I have been an appreciative though irregular visitor. I must say that ZU has given me a brand new insight to the man with whom I used to prop up the bars.

Write to express. Not to impress. Ah such simple unheeded wisdom.

Thank you, my friend.

Patrick, the kudos is reciprocal....how much I have learnt from you from our intermittent association. I still treasure those times. I often use you in my seminars as a person who never allowed old mindsets to curb or be a barrier of what one can achieve. I highlite your grit and your scrupulous inclinations for detail and specifics. You have so much to contribute and you have a duty to share. I subscribe to Off the Edge and of course Teology is my first read. Lets be in touch more often.....over scotch or beer. As always, love to Min.

Clark Gable.....no disciple...we share to enrich our lives and those we can engage. We had a good day didnt we? It was a treat listening to you, Big Dog and Saat...and I was able finally to meet QueenB.Cheers buddy....as usual my love to Pam.

Zorro good to hear you drink scotch too. At the risk of generalising, I thought you were a brandy person. I will definitely catch up when next in KL. Where is your usual watering hole ?

Hawinder, Macallan Single Malt first choice,Black Label and anything that is called beer. Yes everybody thinks Chinaman is brandy. Those early days at Chinese wedding dinners if you had no brandy served, guests will think otherwise of the hosts...and moreover good scotch only appeared here around the late 50s. Will take a Hennessy XO only in a sniffer, and straight.I top-up or de-stress at the National Press Club. Price is not intimidating.

With mama minister bobo, how do u expect her 35-manned cyber patrol team to answer on the internet.

Young, and presence felt. Keep on blogging and may the penile implants of detractors pop out through their nose.

Zorro, I didn't know you are a MacCallan convert! I agree it is a good whiskey but these days I am quite happy with a White Label. Cost less $$$, tastes good and has the same effect. As for Laphroaig it is an acquired taste. I remember the first time I served it to some other Chinamen they puked at the peat taste and smell.

Off the point this may be but whiskey is always a good topic of conversation especially when discussing moronic government officials and their high handed lack of manners to the very people who elected them.

Zorro, the honorable (not) minister of sport is the same person who, when she was still a practising lawyer lodged a police report against The Instant Cafe Theatre Company when we performed one of our revues in the MAS training complex in PJ. Her claim was that we were disrectful to the then PM, Dr. M. Of course, she had neither the brain or the inclination to enjoy a good piece of political satire that highlighted her eventual "boss". Yup her arse licking started way back then.

Oh yes, the Special Branch came. Investigated. Smiled like they didn't know what the fuss was about.

Patrick, the first Macallan bought at Heathrow was given to me by my neice's French husband. That was around 1992. I t could not be purchased here. Now a litre at duty free is around 148....to be savoured with intimate friends....and straight.Famous Grouse cheaper than beer at PJ club....good scotch that one. I nearly assaulted (no intention to murder) one of my old students (Richard's classmate). Rich opened a bottle and this guy wanted to mix it with soda.Sheesh.

patrickteoh said...

Hahahaha...then you will have to beat Richard over the head too cos he drinks his with soda and in large gulps. I am quite happy with White Label. Famous Grouse I am not fond of. But I recently got hold of a couple of bottles of Ballantyne's 12 year old that fell off the back of a truck. It tastes GREAT!

In my opinion if one wishes to add soda or coke to a whisky might as well stick to red label - value for money in mixing.

Zorro,

How about you arranging a 'bring a bottle of whisky' get-together at NPC with the company of like-minded gentlemen of distinction and ladiez, of course.

Btw any idea how much a bottle of Royal Salute cost nowadays?

zorro said...

Hawinder.....I dont know but call me old fashion. Certain drinks are brewed and preserved to be drunk straight. When news broke that red wine was good for the heart some chinaman not used to red wine mixed it with 7up just like they usded to drink brandy with 7up. It is a sin to mix certain drinks. Of course today we have those gourmet drinks where you have to mix with something else to whip up a cocktail called "slippery teats". Thats cocktail...go crazy mixing. Went to a big wedding where every table was given a bottle of Cordon Bleau....One table of youngsters were mixing it with coke. Damn, I became a busy body and plonked myself on that table and did some tutoring on drinking well. No more coke. Mixing certain brands is just like you having Tyra Banks, Beyonce, Shakira or the Dixie Chicks in bed with you and you are reading the Malay Mail.Dang.

Shar101....cannot organise that at NPC...they running business and would charge cockage....just wait until us bloggers have a place of our own....someone is looking for a place. Just be patient.

Ah Patrick, I rmember those days at Radio City and Champs, those whiskey soaking Sundays. Those were the days. Must revisit those days, Patrick.

shar101 said...

Noted. Btw do you know about the 5th April announcement?

Meanwhile, will you continue reading Malay Mail under such pressing circumstances? Even with one brand, it would be rather difficult, wouldn't it.

HSingh said...

Zorro, its outrageous - youngsters mixing Cordon Bleau with coke - practically murdering the drink !!

Must get them charged under ISA (Imbibers' Sacrilege Act). However being youngsters they will probably end up undergoing rehabilitation and mental re-programming rather than doing hard time.

Talking about hard time if I had Tyra Banks, Beyonce, Shakira or the Dixie Chicks in bed with me, the only reason for me to be reading the Malay Mail would be for an emergency - looking at classifieds for tukang urut or tongkat ali supplier. Even the hardest rock can be worn down over time by a gentle pecking bird.
