AN ANAK PERAK'S 2 CENTS......

Raja Nazrin: Respect the law

KUALA LUMPUR: “Democracy does not mean anything goes. It certainly does not mean mob rule,” Raja Muda of Perak Raja Dr Nazrin Shah said.

My 2 cents in red:

Which mob ruled on Saturday? Who used force….we treat our dogs and cats better

THEIR SMILES TURNED TO ANGER WHEN ATTACKED

AND ABUSED.....

He said in any functioning democracy, there were rules as to how society was to be governed, and in Malaysia, the rules were enshrined in the country’s constitution.

…..sounds of a broken record….

“Our constitution spells out not only what our rights are but also what the limits to those rights are,” he said in his speech at the 25th Tunku Abdul Rahman Lecture organised by the Malaysian Institute of Management here last night.

The constitution does spell out our rights to peaceful assembly, but the Police Act limits our rights. The Police Act was pushed thru Parliament to protect the governing against the governed.

“These limits ensure that decisions are not made by those who wield the most power, shout the loudest or behave in the crudest manner.”

Weren’t decisions to teargas and spray chemically-laced water made by those who wielded most power….and you were not there to witness who barked the loudest or behave in the crudest manner.

Raja Dr Nazrin said they would only become entrenched and lead to deep social lesions that would never heal.

Did you read Noor Azman’s piece in Utusan?

He said the country had a good system of governance in place that had served it well and Malaysians should seek to improve on and strengthen this system.

I’d rather volunteer a “good system of corrupt governance that had served the governing pack well…….we onery Malaysians are never allowed to improve and strengthen this suspect system. The ISA, Sediction Act, OSA shackled us. So how? Here is something you may not know. When Datuk Zaid Ibrahim was in the Cabinet, he moved that anyone, even after leaving office for 10 years, and evidence of corruption is produced, prosecution would take place. Believe it or not, not a single member in the Cabinet wanted that? No prize for guessing, yes?

Raja Dr Nazrin said that as Malaysians moved into the month when they celebrate the country’s 52nd year of independence, they should endeavour to restore a culture of civility and respect towards each other as they did 52 years ago.

“Restore” preceeds “dismantling”! Who dismantled the culture of civility and respect we had towards each other? Thus, what system has to be restored? Who should restore? Otherwise the above statement is as platitudinous as your Malaysian sun euphoria. Did you know that I made (then) a posting pleading for you to be the next PM? Truth be told I was sincere. Of course that is now history…….

He also touched on the situation in Perak and said he had to be careful of what he said as many issues were still before the courts.

But truth must be told and justice must be seen to be done.

“I nevertheless think I am not giving anything away when I say that what has transpired is something that is beyond unfortunate. It is a situation that must be resolved but resolved in accordance with the law.”

Let’s not flog this dead horse. Even Tun Mahathir said that the way Perak was taken by UMNO was wrong. The only way to right this wrong is to hold an election in Perak. The results are already written on every blank wall in Perak except the Secretariat walls. I wonder who can and should encourage to resolve that situation in accordance with the law. Najib won’t dare! Who then……assiduously?

Raja Dr Nazrin added that the Malay Rulers were above partisan politics, and this was what a constitutional monarchy meant and what the Rulers assiduously believe.

Not Amin but more ahemmmmm to that bit about partisan politics…..

He said the present situation in Perak stemmed from a political problem, that of political crossovers but was very quickly compounded by other decisions and actions of questionable legality.

Paid political crossovers…..and accepting and paying felons to cross over…..I agree about “other decisions and actions of questionable legality.”

In making the right decision in any situation and act in a manner that is fair and impartial, the Ruler must be guided by the constitution that encapsulates all the values that form the very foundation of Malaysian society.

Bukit Gantang proved otherwise.

In the Perak case, the Ruler adhered closely to the letter and spirit of the state constitution, he said. — Bernama

If you say so, Tuanku.

Raja Nazrin, it is best you fully concentrate on your family business...GUMUDA WAS NOT DOING TOO BADLY OF LATE...thanks, to your UMNO PM!
If you have lost the peoples' confidence as ruler of the State, it is pointless to preach your hallow political sermons.
Where were you when the people needed your presence and support? Hiding behind the high walls guarding the palace?
I am a Repulican, monarchs mean nothing to me, just fancy dressed parasites!!

Since Perak Crisis, I don't trust the Sultan and his son anymore. Sultan should give-up his throne. Raja Nazrin shall resign as Raja Muda and join UMNO then contest in election.

These two fellows highness are 'cakap tak serupa bikin'.

Dear Z

I think you should find a discreet way to tell His Royal Highness to keep an elegant silence. All true Anak Banga Malaysia are very disappointed with him and the Sultan of Perak for the role they played/did not play resulting in a suspended god forsaken state.

I use to devour any news about about his speeches and commentary but not anymore; I intentionally abstain from reading what he has to say.

The Prince and the Sultan stand side by side with Najis robbing his own state government. How dare he open his mouth again and again. He and his father rejected the wishes of his own subjects. What kind of ruler and future ruler are this ???

My say in turn -
"Democracy does not mean anything less either. It certainly does not mean a Government is any more legitmate by dubious rule".
Especially denying the Perak people their choice of a democratically-elected Government. And, in case Perak should undergo a stagnant situation whereby there exists doubts who could claim legitimacy on the righful Government, the Perak people should be entitled to cast their choice in the electoral process. And not for anyone else to usurp that function. To express an opinion without due regards to the other side of the equation is at best a misconceived opinion which cannot sustain reason by any reckoning.

Malay rulers are above politics if they did not get involved in businesses. Otherwise, I am afraid they tend to be bias towards the ruling party. Perak's case is clear as crystal despite all the spin to show otherwise.

Penang has shown open tender and greater transparency did not go down well with businesses used to favouritism.

People go to the streets to demonstrate out of frustration not for fun. The government of the day has to be fair first before the people abide by the rules of law.

The main difference between BN as opposition in certain states and PR as opposition generally is that BN can cause trouble by using the police, MACC and other institutions to do their biddings.

After Perak, Selangor looks next on the list of destabilizing forces which only those in possession of power can effect.

KSTan said...

I certainly share your sentiments and frustration or disappointment. Those in power, be they the Monarch or the Ministers including the PM are living on the Eifel Tower and far away from the realities on the ground. The Rakyat is at the losing end of the equation. So everyone learn to exercise your votes wisely.

This was what Anwar said about the ISA on 24 May 1994 when he was Deputy Prime Minister while officiating a "Mesyuarat Agung Antarabangsa ke 27, Majlis Ekonomi Lembangan Pasifik (PBEC)" in Kuala Lumpur, Anwar Ibrahim said:

“Walaupun keadaan dalam negara sekarang adalah baik, namun tidak dapat dinafikan kemungkinan berlakunya ketegangan. Dalam keadaan seperti itu kebijaksanaan untuk mempertahankan ISA adalah perlu demi keamanan negara. Adalah tidak wajar untuk menghapuskan Akta Keselamatan Dalam Negeri (ISA) yang terbukti berkesan membawa keamanan dan kemakmuran di negara ini.”

On 28th Oktober 1987, Anwar's statement when he was Education Minister on the arrest under ISA of both BN and Opposition members during Operation Lallang:

“The goverment’s decision to ban all public rallies showed that it placed national security above the aspirations of certain politicians and political parties…..The government’s actions were carefully planned and placed priority on national interest not that of any particular group. There can be no compromise on national security in a multiracial country like ours.”

Fast forward to 1st August 2009, this is what Anwar Ibrahim defacto Opposition Leader and wannabe PM said in the anti ISA demonstration:

“We gather today to fight a cruel law under a cruel administration..”

“Democracy does not mean anything goes. It certainly does not mean mob rule,” Raja Muda of Perak Raja Dr Nazrin Shah said.

So what does ISA means?..it is worse than mob rule if you happens to be on the other side.

On ISA protest, oops, it is not even a real protest or demostration. All those people want to do is walk to Istana and hand over a letter and im sure they will disperse after that.

Did any of the protesters misbehave in an unruly manner and damange any private or public properties like those riots elswhere? burning tyres, cars and what not, like in france , for example.
All those who walk are true anak bangsa malaysians of all races and background who want the present gomen to repeal an draconian act that even Islam forbids.

So why use tear gas and chemical water to disperse these people who jsut wanna walk.

We are all loyal subjects of the Roylkas irrespective of race and sadly, they only think of their Malay subjects only. Where does us non Malays stand?

Please be a Royal for all races.

Every sane Malaysian will be able to tell you that the MOB is the Police with their tear gas and chemical laced wter jet. I was at the scene and had a taste of both...its painful and hurting but I am gald I took part. We came in Peace but was met with voilence and force.

We are lucky that we, the normal Malaysians are not violent in nature or else you will see clashes and then blood will spill. The MOB (Police) are supposed to PROTECT the people but they are used by BN (with support from Upper echleons) to used force on the people. They are the so called "Licensed Gangsters".

MOB rule means filling up the street and blocking traffic from using the road.

Go find some big padang if you want to have "peaceful" gathering.

No need to disrupt others. They have rights too, and you must respect them. If you don't respect others then we can categorize you guiys as MOB.

don't you think so?

Whatever issue you have, taking it to the streets is a big NO. be civilized la.

Is this the way and mentality to run a country aah?

Anyway the police have given plenty of warnings.
What I see was provocation to invoke police actions and then quickly accuse police acting brutal.

I repeat, they have acted in proper manner in giving warnings not to assemble.ie ( no brutality in giving warnings )

Because there is no such place to handle such crowd other than the road and it is not fair to other road user whom want to use the road for their right of purpose.

So there you are. Didnt your mom teach you not to play on the road.

Go find some padang and do what ever you want.

The police will surely give permission if the gathering is properly coordinated and manage.

JUST LIKE YOU ALL DID AT YOUR STADIUM IN KELANA JAYA OR SHAH ALAM.

So there you have it.
Public is not stupid. We all know what is the real intend, to provoke the police.

Years ago, there's a TV programme:

YOU ASKED FOR IT!!!

anyway what result do you expect from these gatherings?

NOTHING AND POINTLESS.
AND YOU KNOW THAT!
