MAKKAL SAKTI! MAKKAL SAKTI! MAKKAL SAKTI!
At 7.15 my condo-mate and Resident Association chairman Sudesh sms-ed this message:
"where ar u meeting.want to take a posse there"
At 8.15 Haris Ibrahim of People's Parliament asked me to call him when I reach Masjid Jamek station.
At 8.45 the road leading towards Parliament was blocked by heavy police presence.
By 9.00 the Rose Marchers had gathered in Jalan Raja Laut, in front of the DBKL complex. Police too moved in......
The same four against one or sometimes eight against one was re-enacted ....and the arrests began. Co-ordinator S Manickavasagam was arrested, photographers reported.
The government's bully-boys unleashed their toys once again at my Indian friends. The people moved towards Dataran Merdeka, because Jalan TAR was now closed to traffic.
At 10.40 this lady was arrested, and when Haris took this photo, she proudly lifted her cuffed hands in salutation.By now I had rendezvoused with Haris under the clock-tower.
Apparently the kid below is her son, so he too was taken into custody and I am sure later to be released. I salute mother and son.
Because of consistent harassment by the increased police presence the organisers abandoned the idea of handing the proposed demands to the PM and decided to hand said documents to Suhakam.....for whatever it is worth!
By 11.30 Haris and I were alerted that the campaigners were gathering at the Court Malai Pillay temple. Earlier the FRU stormed the next-door coffeeshop, coming thru the back door and in the process damaged equipment, to make more arrests. When we arrived at the temple, a foreign correspondent was interviewing, legal adviser Sivanesan. Amongst other things, he said this: "what the Prime Minister did today is irreparable. But you will hear the Indian Voice on 8 March." The bristle at the back of my neck stood!!!!
After making some arrests, the police retreated to the junction of the road leading to the temple and watched from a distance. However the people continue with speeches and chanting the now familiar rallying call: MAKKAL SATKI!
By 1200 noon another crowd marched towards Pulapol via Pudu Jail, to lend support to those already arrested.
At 5.40 HANTU filed in this report: 160 arrested, 9 including a woman remanded for further investigation, whilst the rest were freed after their documents were recorded.
HARIS IBRAHIM TITLED HIS POST: PDRM GUNS 1 HINDRAF ROSES 0.
Haris I can buy that, but you must know that the Roses lost because the referee "played" for the armed PDRM.

Thanks for the update Zorro, bravo to you and all those who attended today's Rose March.
The police once again over-reacted, and in doing so once again reinforced the view that Malaysia is degenerating further towards becoming fully fledged police state.
Tear gas, chemically laced water canon and brute force against peaceful carriers of roses [men, women and children], is really OTT. - February 16, 2008 at 11:03 PM

suspenseful thriller and possibly the impending prelude death knell for AAB as we know him , or is this another one of Malaysia's incorrigible perplexing sandiwara and trojan horses ?

Guys,
Be careful. It’s 2 am now and I just came back home. On the way, I saw soooo many roadblocks and police presence. They are not taking this lightly. As far as I know, they are out in FULL FORCE.
I’m scared. BUT I WILL BE THERE. (Shit scared)
I think the police are getting braver and braver. When this happens, they tend to do really dumb things (not that they have shown any grey matter before)
