The provocation of May 13 was done by some labour party members. The provocation was not planned. The killing of chinese by some malays was probably decided at Dato` Harun`s house. And the killing was planned.

Ghafar Baba, former DPM, is more likely to know the truth better than anyone else alive today. Unfortunately this film is made without interviews with such great people. Now we have to look to his son to find out what he had told his son. He would not have lied to his son Tamrin, would he ? Yes, very likely only a few who actually ignited the riot. These few probably also had the power to stop the riot. Even if I gather a hundred people and try to riot, police could easily put me down, if they want to. Was it not so with the Suluk intruders ? It must have been a situation where the riot was first allowed to start. History should find out such persons and shame them forever.

If you have national leaders that (notice I say "that" and not "who") are more interested in fomenting discontent in the country, create fiction to portray their version of truth. When petrol prices go up as a reward to electing these crooks to the highest offices with a further and better reward coming soon in the form of GST.

It is time to pack up and leave the God-forsaken Malaysia.

What did the 1Crime Minister say before the general elections. I cannot remember whether it was "Jajnji ditepati" or "Janji di tipui". The whole financial mess was created by him as a run up to the general elections. Now he makes the wise ones pay, not the idiots that voted back the crooked and stupid umno into power.

Note: Altantuya's murderers are freed. GST is looming. "We are listening". Really?

Crutches are harmful are to those who desire to be able to walk, independently and freely. They’ll cause the people incapable of walking on their own feet, for a life time, if people are unaware of the destructive effects on them.
We are now living in a competitive global village, no man is an island. For the survival of a person or race, crutches need to be discarded. The “suppliers” of the crutches have something sinister about their hidden intentions.

The cut-off point for BR1M is RM3,000 a month. People who are around or above that mark - say a young exec making RM3,500 - will feel the pinch from this. And from the electricity prices going up. And from the GST. We can already see the prices of things going up everywhere. Money from our monthly pay cheque gets used up faster than ever.

Don't try to justify this by talking about oil prices. Oil prices are cylical. There have been worse spikes than this before. It is a question of balance. Other industries, other cronies, are hugely oversubsidised. There are govt depts that are basically a waste of space and hugely overstaffed. Why not start there?

Fazil said...

The last petrol price increase had already had a domino effect on prices of goods. It has become a sad fact of life in this country. This one will definitely make it worse because our salaries have not been proportionately increased. A layman should not be cheated by the BR1M that is to be handed out to fool the gullible. It doesn't take anything more than the most basic economic knowledge to know for a fact that this Barang Naik gomen is not leading the country well. For those who voted for this Barang Naik gomen, you most certainly deserved being treated like fools. The rest of us wanted change but yet still get this kind of crap gomen!

The rakyat's grouse is not per se targeted at removal of subsidies. It is targeted at government wastages, corruption and cronyism. The evidence is there for all to see, PLUS highways making mega profits having recouped their initial investments, same with the many highway concessionaires. Look at Syabas and all the privatised watre concessionaires. If it weren't for Selangor govt, our water bill will be at least 50% higher now. Many projects were not completed despite the government having paid for them NFC corp, army bases, hospitals we cannot use, faulty submarines etc, etc, Protectionist policies resulting in high taxes for cars, rice, properties (including so called bumi discounts where the non-bumis subsidise the discount even for luxury properties. Najib please tackle these issues first before removing more subsidies and implementing GST.

Tanda Putera is UMNO’s skewed version of the May 13 incident. It is malicious propaganda to indoctrinate and poison the minds of the gullible masses viz. the Felda settlers, farmers, fishermen, the rural people and university students, etc.

Being aware of what happened and having lived through the period, to lump the May 13 incident (as fabricated in the movie) together with the lives of Tun Razak and Tun Dr Ismail and call it a patriotic movie is a misnomer. It cannot be denied that Tun Razak and Tun Dr Ismail were definitely great leaders of the nation in their own ways and should be given due recognition. From the write-up of the movie, it can be seen that Datuk Harun Idris has been cleverly absolved and exonerated of any transgression or culpability related to the incident – this raises questions.

As a nation, we need to put to rest the spectre and ghosts of May 13 and move on; that’s fine. But this matter is constantly raised again and again by unscrupulous politicians especially before the General Elections. It is to the government’s advantage to harp on May 13 all the time to make sure their vote bank is secure, to hide their inadequacies in governing the nation, to cover up for corruption & cronyism and as a distraction from the many instances of financial mismanagement and scandals.

This is the classic example of the tyranny of the elite of the majority group towards the minority groups in the country.

Any constructive suggestion to have a Truth Commission or RCI is dismissed lightly by certain quarters as unnecessary. The government would not undertake this since certain groups would be implicated. If the government did not have the gumption to do this all these years, that leaves no choice but to convene a People’s Tribunal since many people who lived in Kuala Lumpur during the incident and were affected by it are still alive, so that the matter can be authenticated, compiled, collated and correctly documented for posterity.

Suhaimi Baba must understand that malays enjoy hantu and lawak, not cerita karut.

It was reported that, ‘Tanda Putera' collected RM500,000 while 'KL Zombi' racked in RM3 million in ticket sales over the same period.

The production cost of ‘Tanda Putera' is RM4.8 million. Shuhaimi's previous film in ‘1957: Hati Malaya', was also a flop after ticket sales only hit RM760,000 compared with the production cost of RM3.6 million.

Anonymous said...

Shuhaimi Baba has been "shaken and stirred" with the poor response to her ‘Tanda Putera'.

Time for her to retire for good, or join Umno as full time propaganda director.

Aries said...

Dear Suhaimi Baba,

If Tanda Putra was about the life of Razak and his deputy Ismail what was the purpose of slotting in snippets of May13 that occurred during the Tengku's watch? And was the urinating scene necessary? Couldn't these been avoided?

By avoiding these would you stand vilified and battered today? Obviously you and your backers had an ulterior motive in this venture little realizing that you were needlessly slandering and provoking the real taxpayers who were footing your propaganda movie. As is common among your kind, you grossly underestimated the intelligence and forthrightness of present day Malaysians. This nation is moving forward and those of your ilk who draw on the nation’s darkest hours 40 years past to distort and disparage the actual victims of the ugly event for mere political hegemony are a curse on this nation and will reap due retribution.

Pak Samad is 81 years old and the police cannot wait until the next morning to take him into questioning? Is Pak Samad a dangerous and armed criminal that he has to be arrested in the early hours of the morning? When has the police been so efficient in dealing with just an allegation? Pak Samad is lucky that the police did not burst into his house with guns blazing.

Umno Baru is reluctant to let the ghosts of May 13 rest because they are needed to perpetuate the myth that only Umno Baru can “save” the Malays. These ghosts help prolong the fears and insecurities, particularly at election time.

If Umno Baru can’t maintain the spectre of May 13, it will become irrelevant and redundant to the Malays, because there will be no “enemy” to defend against.

Umno Baru knows that Malaysians do not read, much. Many would rather watch a film than read about the May 13 incident.

Anon 644...let me put this way as how we elderly folks in their 80s need NOT have to see the rubbish movie Tanda Putra to know the facts...BUT not you. You know why?? We were right in the midst of this ugly episode of Malaysia's history. Only that it was UMNO's history not the man on the street like many of us who bore witness to this sad and tragic incident. So, please don't ever ask Uncle Z and people like us to go and see this shit of a movie to qualify to pass on our opinion. Perhaps, I would say to you that we dont really know the sperm of your kind was in whose scrotum at that time or perhaps that person who had yours was still not around yet. So, dont try to be cheeky with the old farts who had seen lots of actions long before you came into this world.

Veteran 513 at 5.52 PM,

With the greatest of respect to you and others who experienced 513 first-hand, I must say that over the years, Malaysians have been fed many different versions of 513.

For example, I was always told that 513 occurred because Harun Idris was unable to form Govt so he started 513 so that an Emergency could be declared.

But, recently, a year or two ago, I discovered that prior to the start of the troubles, there was a premature victory parade by Opposition parties which wandered off-course into Kampung Baru.

Now, I am not prepared to blame the organisers of the parade for diverting to Kampung Baru as I really have no idea what motivated the diversion NOR am I prepared to blame the people of Kampung Baru for any retaliation against the parade because I have no idea why they retaliated.

The small example I provided above is not meant to show how clever I am nor to try and justify anything.

Rather, it is merely to demonstrate that many Malaysians have no real idea what caused 513 or why 513 occurred.

Mind you, I had considered myself a person who had very good primary sources of unbiased information until I discovered that my sources of unbiased information lacked crucial details themselves, eg that premature victory parade!!

Yes, they were primary sources, yes they were unbiased, yes, they were accurate BUT my sources only had a very tiny piece of the picture.

So, when pressed for an answer why 513 occurred, my sources concluded that Harun Idris started it all.

To help unravel the tangled mess that is 513, those that have firsthand experience of 513 should continue to share their eyewitness accounts or photos online to allow researchers sift thru the evidence.

Thus, if you have anything you want to share, Veteran 513, I urge you to post them here on Zorro's blog.

Such info may be trite and insignificant by itself, but it will add to the overall picture as YOU WERE THERE!!

This are the comments from someone who squandered the rakyat’s money on useless mega projects like there was no tomorrow and who lined his and the pockets of his cronies from looted treasury money and overpriced projects. The irony is breathtaking.

It is inherent for Umno politicians to project an ultra-Malay image in order to endear the masses. This is especially true in a run-up to an Umno election, like now. They would rev up their racially charged nationalistic rhetoric to impress and draw attention to themselves. A case in point would be Ali Rustam's call to shut down Genting Highlands immediately after announcing his intention to vie for a Vice President's post in the upcoming Umno election. Not to forget our Mr Tough Guy HM riding roughshod over us almost every other day, just to "stay relevant" to what an Umno leader should be.

The authorities should stop harassing Pak Samad, Hishamuddin Rais and Adam Adli for telling us a part of our nation’s history that was never told before. If Shuhaimi’s work of fiction can be accepted by Umno goons, then the flying of the Sang Saka Malaya flag should open our eyes to a part of our history which is hardly known. You don’t think so?

All these talk of who are responsible for May 13 is just Umno's diversion of what is happening in the country now.
Suhami, why didn't you show why my car with me and my friends inside, was ambushed with a tree trunk placed across the road by a group of Malays and smashed just a few meters in front of the police station on the night of May 13th ? All that happened along Tanjong Tokong road 44 years ago. Also what did the police do when I went to lodge a report about the incident ? Especially when I asked the officer in charge what kind of actions had the police taken ? The answer was if I was to ask that that again I would be arrested. Those were the truth of what happened and it should be in the records for all to see, including yourself to verify.

Tanda Putera appeared poorly written and disorganized. It somehow lacked flow and connection in its storyline, lack of background research, wrong casting and in short, a complete shipwreck.

On top of that, the movie has a biased and unbalanced view of history, whereby the Malays were put under good light and glorified while the Chinese was portrayed as inciting racial hatred against the Malays and had been infiltrated by the Communist.

In the first half hour of the two-hour movie, the Chinese and Democratic Action Party (DAP) were shown from the very beginning as radical rebels; from protesting against the elections result to shooting police officers, except for one Chinese university student Allen, played by Alan Yun and his father, who were the only good apple among all the other Chinese represented in the movie.

While the Chinese received most of the bad light, it had not at all mention on the Malayan Communist party, which had Malays in their groups as well.

As for MCA, the movie had easily passed the party member as a coward, not only by not showing the party's role, but also for quitting the alliance when things had turned ugly.

The sales of TANDA PUTERA could have been salvaged if 1) Shuhaimi apologized for the inaccuracies portrayed 2) made amendment or censorship to the sensitive scenes. Also, for those BN folks, stop forcing people to watch this film like giving out free VCDs, free public screening, etc. You know what is the feeling I got when I read all these aggressive pushing? It creates within me a kind of phobia as if there are some propaganda to brainwash people. I TELL YOU - THE MORE YOU FORCE PEOPLE TO WATCH, THE MORE PEOPLE ARE NOT GOING TO WATCH. You, BN, Perkasa, etc are the contributors to the early demise of Tanda Putera. R.I.P Tanda Putera

Suhaimi Baba acted arrogantly in the beginning. As we all know, her first taste of falling flat on her face is the dismal failure of her rubbish. Now she is pissing in her panties due to fear of a suit from Kit Siang—she won't be able to pay the compensation that she will be sure to be ordered to pay. The depicting of Kit Siang urinating on a flagpole IS NO MISTAKE. We all know it was done intentionally. Claiming it is a mistake is a BLATANT LIE. I know the precise English words and phrases to exactly describe this maggot, but I shan't soil this page and offend the sensitivities of my decent fellow readers.
