“That is so. And if anyone inflicts an injury the same as the one done to him and then is again oppressed, Allah will come to his aid. Allah is All-Pardoning, Ever-Forgiving.” (Surah al-Hajj, 60)
REMEMBER this clown or a deputy education minister who will not read anything addressed to him other than in Bahasa Malaysia? We are weird if we communicate in English! You do remember of couorse.

NO! It will never be put to rest until the 1MALAYSIA Prime Minister does. PERIOD. A few former participants have voiced their concerns but not enough, prompting this from a Malasiakini reader' Lusiapa: Will past participants of such BTN courses step forward and give their testimony without fear or favour?
I was trying to get into MT to retrieve Pete's take on this, but looks like it is being "worked over" again? NO?
UPDATE: NO, MT is accessable. PUSHY, my cybercafe boss, hit some keys and Pete's take is HERE.

"The Barisan Nasional-led federal government may face a tough time defending its Biro Tata Negara (BTN) programmes when PKR initiates a nation-wide tour together with ex-BTN officials to prove its allegations that the programmes are used to “indoctrinate” civil servants and students with racist propaganda."
The last time I featured Azmi as my guest blogger I was questionedd as to my choice of the pic I used. I always learn from mistakes and I always ask for forgiveness. If you know the number of toes that I have stepped on, according to recognised statistics, I am on 28 years of borrowed time. I would have been one big capital KAPUT. I am contemplating 70 one month from NOW and I am still kicking because when I am wrong, I always admit I am wrong. You never lose when you are honest.
Prof.....I think this is one good pic of you.
People, I first met this TREASURE when Haris asked me to be a panel member when he launched Anak Bangsa Malaysia in 2007. Panel members included Zaid Ibrahim, Malik Imtiaz, and Azmi Sharom. I was dwarfed, literally and figuratively, believe me. But at the end of the day, I was humbled to be in the panel with these legal luminaries.
OK it is getting late (or early.....3:57am now....so let me give you my Friday Guest Blogger:
ON Sunday night I was with a group of chaps and we were jumping, dancing and shouting with joy.
Looking back now, it occurred to me that if someone had photographed us, we would have made wonderful poster boys for unity (albeit highly unattractive poster boys). We were your classic Melayu, Cina, India group (with apologies to my indigenous fellow citizens).
No, I was not taking part in some plastic 1Malaysia campaign. This moment was a genuine one with real feeling. The reason for our unbridled muhibbah celebrations was Tottenham Hotspur’s 9–1 victory over Wigan.
It was an amazing night which started (as it always does with long-suffering Spurs fans) with cautious optimism, building to happiness at what was looking like a solid victory, and culminating in ecstatic disbelief that we were watching a historical game unfold. I suppose the authentic nature of our oneness that night was due to the fact that we shared a common goal and a common endeavour.
And that is the key to any true sense of unity – an overarching ideal that transcends petty differences like the colour of your skin, the god/s that you worship and the food that you eat.
Deputy Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin denied claims that courses run by the Biro Tatanegara (BTN), or National Civics Bureau, were a form of political indoctrination.
Prove to us BTN is not political indoctrination and we will show proof that IT IS!
Muhyiddin said the Selangor menteri besar had no right to stop federal civil servants, members of the public and staff of private companies from attending BTN courses.
As a parent, I have every right to prevent my dependents from being indoctrinated with racist sentiments into bigots. Why don't the DPM attempt reading THIS. No, dont show it to your deputy Puad.....it will be pure greek to him.
"BTN courses are not for 'converting' participants to Umno and BN. There are no ulterior motives; these courses are well-intended," Muhyiddin told reporters recently in Pagoh.
Well attended or forced to attend….. If you know what is good for you!
"Show me under what law the Selangor menteri besar can do that," he said, adding that the BTN would continue holding such courses.
The inherent law every good parent abides by – to protect their children from bad influence.
"If Selangor does not want to participate, it's okay; but we cannot stop the people from learning about 1Malaysia, about nationalism and unity," he said.
1Malaysia…..this animal has been flogged to death judging from recent events! Talk is RM20million cheap. Prove it by action

Last Sunday I met an old buddy at the PROTES Rally. We were colleagues at both MNCs I worked for after I left the teaching profession. We exchanged pleasantries until I put the final question: “I never expect a person like you to be in a rally like this?”
Like many of us, SAM (yes that is the name I coined for him, and it has stuck) is not happy with what is happening behind our backs. He told me that his daughter had to attend a full day orientaion by BTN officers at the UiTM. He gave me a gist of what his daughter reported transpired. He gave me the idea that it was a full day of racist indoctrination. The weight of Sam's concern did not hit me until I received an email on AZLY RAHMAN's articleHERE
Just close to two months ago I met a young lady doctor who had to go thru this BTN session before doing her internship at a district hospital. At this session, they had to surrender their handphones and any other electronic recording devices. Mussolini would love this BTN outfit.
Nazri told the House that the probe (ROYAL COMMISSION) did not reveal any criminal offence and that, while Lingam's action may have been morally wrong, there is no specific law against it
He further told the Star that the Prime Minister’s Department is looking for volunteers to prosecute controversial lawyer Datuk V.K. Lingam who was featured allegedly brokering the appointment of judges in a video clip.“Find anyone who can provide me a section in law to charge Lingam and we will do it,” Minister Datuk Seri Nazri Aziz told reporters at the Parliament lobby. This de fucko minister of law dared the legal profession to take up the Lingam's case.
THAT WAS WHEN THE LION ROARED:
"He (Mohd Nazri Abdul Aziz) singled me out in fact and I accept the challenge."
Karpal Singh has outlined the steps he would take if he obtains authorisation to prosecute fellow-lawyer VK Lingam for allegedly brokering the appointment of judges.
"In fact I am prepared to prosecute Lingam for an offence under Section 4 of the Sedition Act. Quite clearly what is on the video clip, which has been shown nationally, and whatever he uttered amounts to a seditious tendency.
Section 3(1)(c) of the Act defines 'seditious tendency' as a tendency to bring the administration of justice into contempt or hatred.
"Even assuming Lingam is acting or trying to impress a client (in the footage), it still amounts to sedition."
" In this country, there is provision in law for the attorney-general (AG) to issue a certificate which is a fiat to prosecute someone," he said, urging that this be done soon to enable action.
"For prosecution under Section 5 of the Sedition Act, there is requirement and predisposition for consent to prosecute to be issued by the AG."
Karpal said he would then apply in court to arrest Lingam and to have him produced in court for the purpose of taking a plea from him.
"Of course I will advise him to plead guilty because a plea of guilt is a paramount consideration when it comes to sentencing (but) of course he has the option to claim trial, which I think he will."
BECAUSE OF THIS EMBARRASSING SILENCE

HE may be obeying his Master UMNO, but I doubt Tun M will be happy with this Patai fellow. His interference in court may prevent Mukriz from contesting in Kota Siputeh.
Malsysiakini reported: Following today's decision by Justice Alizatul Khair Osman Khairuddin, senior federal counsel Kamaluddin Md Said - representing the EC - said the attorney-general's chambers had filed an appeal this afternoon.
As far as I understand the Election Commission has the power to delimit constituencies, revise the electoral roll of registered voters, and regulate the manner in which elections are conducted. Although the Constitution does not refer to the Commission as being a body independent from influence by the government or otherwise, constitutional scholars have generally considered the Constitution as intending to protect the independence of the Commission.Among other things, commissioners are protected by tenure, and may only be removed through the same procedure as a judge of the Supreme Court. Nowhere is it written that the AG can intervene.

Deputy Education Minister Mohd Puad Zarkashi has said that speaking English in the workplace is "weird" and harmful to the nation's culture and identity.
He said employees in the private sector used English 99 percent of the time and should switch to Bahasa Malaysia in order to show pride in the national language, the New Straits Times reported.
"This also occurs in government-linked companies where we have this weird culture of people speaking to each other in English instead of the national language," he said at the launch of a linguistics seminar.
Walawei, what do you know......he has a blog and is even on Facebook with this article of his. I give it to readers verbatim to see how English has been trashed by a Deputy Minister of Education.
Assalamualaikum wr.wb. Assalamualaikum wr.wb. dan salam 1 Malaysia. 1 Malaysia and peace.
I was opening the International Conference on Linguistics and Culture Development malay.. Conference is organized by UPM in cooperation with DBP.. The theme of this seminar is 'Pemerkesaan Malay identity as a nation-state building' I take the opportunity in the inauguration speech was to raise the matter that is the tree 'acculturation Malay' in Malaysia.
Language is social capital and cultural capital. Nations that marginalize language is a nation that does not animate the race and there is no self-esteem.. Therefore language acculturation is very important. It will produce a nation that move collectively.. Feeling accountability thick. This is what Francis Fukuyama called, why have the Japanese culture Japanaese Incorporated. They have their own culture to language.
Language but the culture of Malaysians especially the Malays is very annoying, sometimes frustrating and sometimes disturbing. Just look at the language and text and language on the Internet. Very strange cultural language of the Malays today.
The first example, when the Malays chat chat among themselves, especially the elites, they like talking in English. What they need to converse in English. We do not like the French, the Japanese and Korean people. If talking to each other, they use their language, not English. Strange is that we both love to chat chat, especially those middle-class language use rojak mixed mixed between Malay and English. This is clear enough drama in TV dramas including those published in the TV 1 and TV 2. TV 3 do not matter. Skripnya we see is a script language that mixed mixed. Malaysia is the third culture people do not obey the French language as such abide by the language. Although the French know and speak English, but they still speak French.
For those French have a long history. They claim that the French language in the diplomatic Erofah than English. Actually malay also aged 2000 years. Malay 6 stages of evolution have suffered from an ancient language to the language of modern. But what problems we are. The problem is that we can not distinguish perana Malay as the national language and English as a second language. We see the role of the Malay language as the language of official business only.. That is spotted. Next problem is that we are no longer as capable of not even want to control it GLC and private actions that make full use of English in their board meeting meeting. With the rapid development of the private sector, he feared, culture does not abide by this language become increasingly so.
The problem, the problem is not Malay, but our problem attitude. That betray our own national policies or pollute citra cultural Malaysia That's why there are meetings and meetings at the faculty senate that the university will use the English language entirely. This is a challenging acculturation Malay language in Malaysia.

I mean the exclusion of these two giants. Sri Ram and Justice Malanjum, both icons of integrity were conveniently SIDELINED. Not only were they not on the RESERVE BENCH, they were not on the LIST. Maybe these two do not belong to the elite TEAM subservient to the powers.
Royally ousted Perak Menteri Besar Mohd Nizar Jamaluddin's final appeal at the Federal Court would be closely watched as the reputation of the judiciary is at stake.
There was of course a speck of decency not appointing Augustine Paul, deemed superfluous, as he specializes in “rear admiral” cases only as in this case nobody got buggered from the rear. Dang, maybe I am wrong…..my home state got “reared” bad. However word has it that he is being “cloistered and coached” for BIGGER decisions to save some unisex tag team!
President of Court of Appeal Alauddin Mohd Sheriff and Chief Judge of Malaya Arifin Zakariahave been permanent fixtures in handling all Perak cases that comes before the Federal Court, are conspicuous and seemingly indispensable for this particular case. Undoubtedly impartiality, coupled with basic justice and fairness are important ingredients when hearing this case…..I was just musing.
And certainly, to show impartiality, judges who have not played a role in any part of the Perak matter will be seen to have this characteristic. Yet
Sri Ram, who was the most senior judge in the Court of Appeal prior to his elevation earlier this year, is known for his bold and reputed judgment in the Vincent Tan vs MGG Pillai case. His judgments are highly respected and have been used as guidelines for the lower courts. One of his well-known judgments was in the Metramac case where in his decision, he implicated corporate figure Abdul Halim Saad, and former Finance Minister Daim Zainuddin, in having to pay damages to Fawziah Holdings Sdn Bhd.
Sri Ram remains a highly respected judge who is not only held in high regard by lawyers but the public as well but he is deemed not QUALIFIED,
Similarly not qualified seems to be the Chief Judge of Sabah and Sarawak, Justice Malanjum, who is the youngest to be appointed to the post, and is seen as one of the better judges who is not only sharp but delivers excellent writen judgments.
Justice Malanjum was the only dissenting judge on the apex court who sat in the controversial Lina Joy conversion case.
So who are the CHOSEN FIVE? Definitely not Enid Blyton's FAMOUS FIVE!
President of the Court of Appeal
Chief Judge of the High Court of Malaya
Federal Court Judge
Federal Court Judge
Federal Court Judge
HERE'RE SOMETHING FOR YOU FIVE TO THINK ABOUT
Justice is conscience, not a personal conscience but the
conscience of the whole of humanity. Those who clearly recognize the voice of
their own conscience usually recognize also the voice of justice.

The paradoxical -- and tragic -- situation of man is that

Cowardice asks the question, 'Is it safe?' Expediency asks
the question, 'Is it politic?' Vanity asks the question, 'Is it popular?' But,
conscience asks the question, 'Is it right?' And there comes a time when one
must take a position that is neither safe, nor politic, nor popular but one
must take it because one's conscience tells one that it is right.:
