CALLING CITIZEN NADES, ROCKY & TONY MARIADAS…..HELP US SAVE UKRC!

Tomorrow morning, I am reliably informed, MPAJ will head for the UKRC (Ulu Klang Recreation Club) to take over its field. The PAS adun has distanced himself from this issue and the PKR deputy President who is the MP deems this not even worth spitting on! I have written in UKRC defence and it looks like we need a more significant effort to this end. I can think of nobody but the THREE of you to step up to the plate whilst those of us who have played a role will continue to take the field in positions we best can.

On Jan 18 2010 I wrote:

UKRC, the Ulu Klang Recreation Club was nearly snatched by some greedy MCA thieves with the help of Khir Toyo of course. That piece of land could make millions for some fat-cat MCA and probably contribute another wing to Toyo's mansion.  However, the community fought back with the help of the Malay Mail then and prevented the raid. The new Selangor Pakatan Rakyat Government dilly-dallied in getting the land officially gazetted after promises on promises. The MP Azmin made countless promises, the adun Saari Sanguib made similar promises. Promises only! Empty promises, that is.
The community played a significant role in the last GE. Period.

That was 2010…..and in April 2012, this is what happened….. on 1 April 2012

On 3 April 2012 we asked if MB Khalid Ibrahim would take the penalty kick for UKRC?

On 4 April we questioned why the Selangor Government was not willing to end this issue

  1. Well, Zorro

What can I say? You got the deputy president of PKR as the MP, that means UKRC is F%@#ed. You've got a Brutus-who-aspire-to-be-PM-but-do-not-have-the-calibre person holding all the influence. Who knows, maybe he's behind the whole saga.

Go find another padang to play. Next time, elect anyone other than Mr. Brutus.

  3. Damn, Damn, damn. I would have thought that after all the effort by UKRC and the NGOs protest, the state government would have seen it fit to hand over the field to UKRC; perhaps on a long term lease with acceptable T & C. Most disappointed with the stand taken by the PR government of Selangor. Not too different from the attitude taken by the previous government, isn't it?

Yes to UKRC No to PR.
Hey DAP ! any comments !
Oh I did mention that the hungry wolves in pr are sniffing around and that was clear when azmin and gang held a meeting at a hotel in ampang to force a private deal.
No two ways about it, Hands of UKRC.

  5. Wrong timing for PKR/PAS supporters (GE over) and good timing for the UMNO/BN rotten thieves! Reflecting on their past activities and during 13th GE, these two greedy opposition PKR and PAS they were engaged in fighting among themselves for more Parliament and State seats....resulting in at least 5 winnable seats that went to BN. Do you expect much from them?
Zorro, look after yourself first. Sometimes, we can only do what humanly possible.

  6. The iconic 'Lok Ann' kopitiam/hotel in Jln Sultan had to make way for MRT project?

Stange that Tourism Minister Nazri is pro-warisan, as he intend to build a Restoran Warisan on part of the Chin Woo school land.

    Lok Ann is a warisan.
It should be preserved, and let the business continue to operate there.

  7. as long as the land remains a green lung and gazetted as such, its better that MPAJ manages the field and all facilities and opens up the facilities to be used by all who pay the rental for usage. Its too risky to have a select club controls usage of the field etc only to its members. I would think this is the best piece of good news to the public. Of course, it would be crazy to expect UKRC to be happy. What is good for the greater population of Ulu Kelang has rightly prevailed over the good of a select few.

  8. To all Zorro readers,

MPAJ officers gave 4 days to UKRC to vacate field, without a Court Order. Today morning, 9am the MPAJ officer behaved like gangsters, cut open UKRC's gates, removed all UKRC A Boards, and condone the field with the yellow string.UKRC has spent more that RM30 mil the last 57 years developing sports for the people. Is MB Khalid going to compensate UKRC. Pakatan Rakayt is a tipu rakyat party. Even Khir Toyo did not cut UKRC's gate to think of it. Be at UKRC today, 5pm onwards for a mega showdown with MB Khalid, the land robber of Selangor. Definitely, Pakatan Rakyat will fall soon.

  9. Zorro,

Frankly, I am quite shocked at this turn of events.

I am even more shocked knowing that Azmin Ali seems to have walked away from a community-based organisation in his own electorate.

There is something fishy going on here and I can't put my finger on it.

  13. Saari Sungib will got to say goodbye to ulu klang next GE. Good at only visiting those without issues. When got issues, sorry, I have prior appointments. I know Khir Toyo paid a price for trying to rob UKRC. MPAJ, cannot even manage their own field, want to take over UKRC field. The MB will for sure lose support from the people of Selangor for damaging UKRC, a well known club in Malaysia. UKRC should sue Selangor Government.

  14. There have been several issues that have shone a different light on Andrew Gopal and his committee.

    1. Members who dare to questioned the committee on why the club fund of RM300,000/- are left in non-interest bearing current account are suspended.

    2. Members who exercise their rights to ask for independent external audit of the club accounts are suspended.

    3. Members who dare to speak to the press are expelled from the club. 2 of the members(of more than 20 years service) are sued by the club in the High Court.

    4. Andrew Gopal and his committee even broke their promise to ADUN YB Saari Sungib to allow an external audit on the club account using fund raised by some members and residents of Kuala Ampang.

    5. 30th June, ADUN YB Saari make a request to Andrew Gopal to allow the residents to use the field. YB Saari has yet to hear from Andrew...

    6. 10th April 2002: Andrew Gopal quietly changed the club constitution to '..the Club operates as a members Club and not as a Community Hall and it has NO obligation to serve the residents unless they are member of the club.'

    7. January 2012: 30 residents applied for membership. Until now their applications are 'under process' whilst close family members of the committee are make members.

    8. April 2012: Official membership list issued by the Club secretary confirmed only 35 Ordinary members holds voting rights.

These are facts backed up by documents NOT spins or allegations etc. There are much more including Kuala Ampang residents cannot access the field and this is the proof:

I urge all to look at all facts rationally and not be swayed by spin or conspiracy theories.

Please check the FB Community page Ukrcforall for more information.

  15. Ha!Ha! Who is this ukrcforall. Must be a fake group or MCA sponsored group that failed to built condominium in the UKRC padang. UKRC allows everyone to play by paying a fee to maintain the field. You nak free kah? Masuk tandas MPAJ pun kena bayarlah bro. UKRC doing a good job. I played football there and their is even better that Bukit Jalil. What UKRC is today is because of the good job of Andrew Gopal and his team. Your FB page is full of spin I see and do not even have your face or name. The youtube event another spin, disturbing club event and to seek cheap publicity.

  16. Contrary to prior denials, the Youth and Sports Ministry did in fact pay for a K-Pop show held last year. It stumped up RM1.6 million to bring in three groups for the National Youth Day celebrations, according to the Auditor-General’s Report 2012.

  18. UKRC Committee playing politics using the media to spread lies and ZORRO you have succeeded Andrew Gopal! They have place illegal guard to stop the resident from going in….Don’t be Fooled by Andrew Gopal!!! All these years the resident never complained to the authorities by why NOW! Simply because Andrew Gopal UKRC president and its committee members ill-treated the resident in Kuala Ampang by building a guard house and erected a boom gate to STOP the residence from entering!

  22. Anon 11pm, I personall went to ukrc on 1st oct and was informed by some residents and club member that those expelled members had used gangsters and illegal association not far from ukrc, the kiew onn association to distrub ukrc activities. So the guardhouse was set up. I was also told that a husband and wife team, Sam and Lily whom uses Ukrc facilities for free created the a facebook to tarnish the good name of Ukrc and achieve their ambition to make sure that Mpaj takes over the ukrc field.

  23. Perkasa's Ibrahim Ali warned of another racial riot if the majority Malays remained poor, saying the Najib administration had done the right thing by introducing a new affirmative action programme.

Like that he must have confirmed that Racial Riot of the past is started by the malays. Suhaimi Baba should interview Ibrahim Ali.

  24. Ms. Christine Lai,

There will always be 2 sides to a story.

The rational approach is to based one's opinion on facts and recorded documentation.

In this issue, the Selangor govt. and ADUN Hulu Kelang YB Saari Sungib are well aware of the facts and thus made this brave decision, instructing MPAJ to take over.

Making personal attacks on any individual only clouds our judgement.

  26. I have been following UKRCforall for a while. If all of you scrutinise through the documents posted and go to the link provided I believe your opinion about UKRC will change. One of the issue I am appalled at is the change of name from "Dewan Masyarakat dan Kelab Rekreasi Kuala Ampang" to "Kleab Rekreasi Kuala Ampang" effectively turned into a private club!!!. The following year they submitted to ROS to further cement their claims by inserting in this caption "no longer a community hall but a members club and the club is not obligated to serve the community". I feel sorry for the Kuala Ampang residents, application to be members are rejected, never in the history of UKRC has any application to be member is rejected. What is happening? Zorro since you started this and you have so many followers why the silence? Can you give us an answer why a community hall can be changed into a private club and this club has only 50 members which primarily consist of the committee family members!!! Take a deep breath.

  27. When Malaysia was fighting the communists, it was deemed better to capture or induce surrender to garner both intelligence and as Sun Tzu's Art of War indicated " .. allow an encircled enemy a safe route to retreat (to prevent them fighting to the death) ... in order to crush them (by eliminating their reason to fight)".

Ahmad Zahid has decided that in facing today's criminals, being brain-dead is better than having intelligence.

  29. With many UMNO leaders like Zahid belonging to Tiga Line or Pekida, and other component parties in BN involved with some of the outlawed groups - plus interfering to get many of the crooks released, perhaps Zahid should apply the PCA on himself and his Tiga Line colleagues as well as those other partner in crimes. Since they are all self confessed 'proven' crooks themselves, will the police also shoot these crooks without warning?
