KUALA LUMPUR: PKR supreme council member Zaid Ibrahim has diagnosed Dr Mahathir Mohamad with a psychological disorder, which has rendered his mind "convoluted and confused".
And a tell-tale symptom of this condition, according to him, is the former premier's "obnoxious and extraordinarily stupid" statement.
Commenting on Mahathir's latest blog posting on meritocracy, Zaid also took a swipe at the latter's Indian roots, by describing himself as "not just a Malay by constitutional definition, but by heritage (as well)."
In his posting, the former premier had labelled those who pushed for meritocracy as being just as racist as those who defended Malay rights.
Mahathir added that some Malays, “perhaps due to mistaken pride”, supported meritocracy and undermined the Malay position further.
However, Zaid disagreed.
“Many Malays want meritocracy for very good reasons. They want their applications for contracts and projects to be given fair consideration by the authorities. They do not want only those who are politically connected to have the upper hand. They want a level playing field.
“They believe that they can succeed on merit if only they get a fair chance. They want to succeed with their pride intact; and at the same time they want to tell their children that Malays who work hard and with the right attitude can succeed., like everybody else,” he said.
Zaid said many Malays wanted meritocracy so that they could get their dues like promotion and higher positions by working hard.
“They want to be judged fairly and not lose their position or seniority because some one else has the right political cable. They want a promotion system that is transparent and free of interference.
“They want to say that they have succeeded because they did it the hard way. Why does Mahathir have to belittle these Malays? Why must the Malays be scrapped off their self-respect just to prove that Umno is responsible for everything in this country?” he added.
'This is not misplaced pride'
Zaid, a former Umno leader himself, said he failed to understand why Malays who supported meritocracy were described as having misplaced pride.
On the contrary, the former law minister said, it was these Malays who carried the flagship of a proud people.
“We know our strengths and we have no shame of our limitations. But we will always strive to better ourselves. If by open competition and transparent policies the net effect is that some Malays still need extra help and support, then of course a responsible government will have to step in; to provide the incentives and the safety net to bridge the gap.
“But let us start with the notion that we must earn our success like everyone else. And the let the best amongst us prosper. We do not need to be instant millionaires. We can take our time so long as we work hard. All we want is the best education for the Malays,” he added.
Zaid said that his comments were aimed at reminding Mahathir of how wrong he was, and not because he had misplaced pride.
“Misplaced pride for a Malay is when he gets to be a minister because his father fixes it; or he has a few hundred millions in his coffers because he has the right Chinese partner to enrich him,” he added.
Mahathir's way will always make the malays feel 2nd-class in their ability so that they will continue to need umno for support.
ReplyDeleteIn one sense the horizon is looming with darkened clouds but on the other hand those desiring righteous living and those desiring a just Malaysia are probably pushing the right buttons and causing the "acupuncture needles" to hitting the right (key) nerves. Ouch!
ReplyDeleteMahathir has a perverse interpretation of meritocracy. During his reign, only the crooked and corrupted merited to be rewarded. It was his policy to appoint only the corrupted officials to key positions in the government service. He would then use the corruption files of these officials to blackmail them and kept them beholden to him.
ReplyDeleteYes, to Mahathir, meritocracy is a dirty word.
Mamakkutty has not the fine qualities of Lee Kuan Yew, he was a product of Kerala with Indian DNA...for that reason, he has to sneak into the band wagon reserved for true malays. This low life is definitely, not embarrassed to take full advantage of the trusting malays who were completely deceived by this snake with a forked tongue!
ReplyDeleteMM is just the typical politician that he is... Stick him on a desert island to fend for himself.
ReplyDeleteMr ZooKeeper
if i say do not with bother with dr M and he wont bother us will it work? probably not..because many are still depending on him for whatever misguided conception that he is a true leader..
ReplyDeleteWhy is meritocracy racist? I personally dont see anything wrong supporting meritocracy. It's just telling people to work hard, be independent to get what they want or achieve in life and do not wait to be spoonfeeded. This debate of meritocracy will go on forever.. certain people will think that their rights or priviledges will be taken away.
ReplyDelete...and from Art too:

this kutty is filled with inferiority complex coz he is a psuedo malay. dont forget, he is a kutty.
ReplyDeleteHahaHHa!! Zaid Ibrahim just spitted on that smirk look face of the most contemptible man of Malaysia! LOL!!! don't he deserve it!
ReplyDeleteThe deranged T Mamak is at his last leg in his senility phase and soon, he will be entering into insanity ...folks get ready for a comedy show perform by a Kerala Indian.
ReplyDeleteRahsia Muda Dr. Mahathir??
ReplyDeleteI remember hearing a rumour that he used to go to europe to get hormone treatment. dont find it surprising for someone who help on to power for so long.
Thats an interesting link, when asked how he and Siti Hasmah have been married happily foe 53 years, he never mentions the fact that he has other wives. This guy is a complete two-faced hypocrite.
Dear Zaid
ReplyDeleteWith all my due respects I wish you would not waste your precious time trying to reform this incorrigible man from Kerala. This combination of incompatible genes has turn what were 2 different good people into a nightmare of a most disgusting kind spewing excrement whenever he opens both ends of his gut.
Let us leave this stench alone in his fantasy that he is Malay when everything about him is not. The Malays were once described as Nature's Gentleman but I don't see any gentility in this mix breed in any form. He believes in an afterlife so I will leave it to those who died during 513 to welcome him/it when the time comes. They will know how to prepare a good Kerala roast, like a suckling pig.
My biggest sympathy go to all my poor simple Malay brothers who have been conned by this pseudo-Malay Keralan. They have lost a lot of what should have been theirs to this conman and his family and his cronies. This sick and moribund mongrel should be challenged to deny this.
Having said this I will leave this dispised Indian to continue his last bit of life's journey to be welcomed into the jaws of hell. There are plenty there with all the time in the world to fix him/it.
Amazing Grace how sweet the sound
To hear Mahathief is gone....
Continue singing...........
Well said Zaid. TDM is real afraid of his own sins that is why he is spinning up the race divisions. He just hope the opposition will not capture Putrajaya otherwise for his age to spend all his earthly living time in jail will be a sad thing.
ReplyDeleteBernard,
ReplyDeleteDato' Zaid has presented the true picture of the NEEDS of the New Breed of Malays vs Madey's Ketuanan UMNO "Mediocracy Syndrome"...
He has forgotten that he was the one who initiated the "Ketuanan Mediocracy Syndrome" in the first place!
UMNO, in "Championing its Malay population should have "TAUGHT" its members & the Malay Population How to "Make their own Fishing Rod & how to Fish" so as to be "Self Reliant" and be at "Par" with the Chinese, Indians, etc within the "Given Time-Frame" as "Intended" in the Constitution.
Sadly after 53 years since Independence and after the Betrayal of Tengku in 1969, "UMNO & its Political Leaders have "Failed" to "Honour its Pledge" for the Malays, the other Races & the nation...
Inspite of the other Races having "Graciously conceded" to continue to extend "That so called Priviledge" well BEYOND the Time-frame!
UMNO Leaders are now using their "Provocating Tactics of "Ketuanan, Kedaulatan & its Religious excuses, etc, etc, etc" Jaguh Kampung Charades in 2010...
Is definitely "Stoking the Fire" towards "Chaos" which every citizen knows by now, just what the "Political Agenda/Trap" is...
Another Police State of Bankrupt Gutter Politics & The Law of the Jungle!
Harapkan Pagar...Pagar Makan Padi!
Pemimpin Melayu UMNO tak tau MALU ke...
Sudah "Menyamun hak Negara & Rayaat" selama 53 tahun, MASIH lagi nak "Ngendeng Hak Orang Lain"
They are an "Insult" to Islam, the other Malays, Chinese, Indians, etc & the Nation...Pariah Beggars!
When in the first place, they should have been the "Role Model" of Honour, Distinction & Integrity!
Madey & his UMNO aligned Malay Bumi Elites, the Super Bumis, etc, etc, etc...with their never ending plundering to Bankrtupt the Nation at our expense!
Madey badly needs that Perkosa Power Base to be heard & to be able to execute his End Game Plan to equal his Mentor Peem Razak's children...
So he needs to continually put his twenty cents worth to get his share of Limelight...sensible or otherwise!
You be the judge.
Cheers.
Wah, Zahid kena from Hulu Selangor voters.
ReplyDeleteTak malu lagi ke?
When Mahathir talks, people listen.
He is a relevant force in our politics.
Nazir Razak has called on him to explain his speech on the bastardization of NEP at the MCA Economic Congress.
It confirms my earlier comments that Nazir was just speaking sweet music to the Chinese ears.
With Malays, he will be singing anoter tune.
The shenanigan Mahathir was and still is using it as his excuse to rob the people and scratching the back of his cronies .All that were and still are excuses to gain his support to remain in power in Umno as the P.M. of Malaysia.
ReplyDeleteThat was so to enable him to continue his corruption and most of all to build up his 'investments' in the foreign banks.
Consequently he had created the dependency of the Malays that was not there before he came into power.
All the shambles that are in the Malaysia to day were started by him and even with the prospect of going into bankruptcy in a few years was the result of his greed. He may be a doctor but he is and never will be an Accountant even by a long shot !
In Malaysia P is not for productivity but “POKAI”
ReplyDeleteP is for Plunder
O is the Officials who do it
K is Korupsi at high levels
A is the AG who misplaces files and
I is the Inability of Courts to administer justice
I see similarity between Mahathir and Ridzuan T, they are obsessed with ‘malay’ dilemma. More of their personal dilemma, but forced that dilemma on the Malay community make them theirs.
ReplyDeleteJust a story copy and paste from another blog (story only);
Once upon a time, there was a zebra, pretend to be black horse with white strips. One day, the herd has an election for leader. That zebra tells the black horses, “I am black horse; see the black strips of mine”. “We have a dilemma, we are special horses, we must lead, let me champion this, trust me and just follow what I say, that’s all you need , I shall ensure you have privileges”…… So the zebra went on win the election! True enough, many policies were introduced to enforce that privileges. Other horses were made to run over tilted ground and slopes. While most of black horses were need only runs on flat ground. After few decades, those horses running thru mountain, sloped ground, build that adapting muscles.
Now that zebra come back and say this “you black horses, you are small, look at the muscles of yours! we cannot based on merit and needs because of that bias”
More and more zebras cross to the herd, trying their luck to be their champions, some pretend black horse with white strips, other white horse with black strips.
Dr M's psychological disorder?
ReplyDelete"Prosecution-phobia" i.e. acute fear of being prosecuted for gross abuse of power and corruption, after Pakatan Rakyat takes over in Putrajaya.
Forget the morality discussion. Mahathir is simply wrong about his prediction. His formula will never achieve the goals of the NEP thanks to him.
ReplyDeleteThe Malays will never achieve their goals without open competition. There is no choice in the matter.
The issue is how to achieve it WITH open competition? There is no simple formula except to keep trying and compete. The issue then is how the Malays can keep trying? They can keep trying ONLY IF national wealth is growing and not lost through pilfering and inefficiency. So long as national wealth is growing, the goals can be achieved one way or another.
Secondly, because of sheer demographic, democratisation of excellence - by democratisation of education first and foremost will get them there sooner or later. That democratisation will not happen against if we don't have growing national wealth to pay for it. The more extraordinary the growth of national wealth, the more extraordinary that democratisation and socialisation can be afforded.
NONE of this can be achieved by UMNO/BN because their feudal system makes it impossible.
Read over several blogs that some people asked to pardon this old man for his child talk. Well, this should come from his children they are suppose to beg the people to forgive their father talking like lost soul. They should chained him up
ReplyDeleteThis mad mamak has a brain damage
ReplyDeleteRemember what he say about the S'porean Malay masih terbonkok bongkok, but he has forgotten that he has make the Malaysian Malay a begger in thier own country. This Bastard what is trying to proofed
Rumah kata pergi Kubor kata nanti.
I am really sorry for him.
Mahathir does not believe in meritocracy and tells the malays that they are weak and need umno to provide the tongkat for them forever. No wonder the malays never have priority on education. They believe the government will continue to feed them. They will forever be stuck in the malay dilemma.
ReplyDeleteThis is OK so long as they are not envious of others to become richer because of own's ability and competecy.
This V.V. (Venomous Viper) is like those Visitors in the TV serial "V". Behind that human-looking exterior lurks a cold-hearted, calculating predator.
ReplyDeleteEveryone can tell from his speech and his actions that he really feels insecure about his Malay-ness and (to his own mind) his doubtful acceptance by the real Malays - probably a life-long fear that even disrupts his sleep.
Therefore, he has decided that he is forced to constantly speak up to show and to remind the Malays that he is fighting for them (remember, he himself has often said that "Melayu mudah lupa" - the Malays easily forget - so he is afraid that he will be forgotten by them if he doesn't do this); even to the point of twisting facts in his attempts to depict the non-Malays as a constant threat to the Malay's culture, religion and livelihood. Obviously his twisted, calculating mind thinks that if the non-Malays have to be sacrificed in order to serve his own selfish ends and motives, then so be it, let them be sacrificed; for it matters not one jot to a cold-blooded, self-centred person of that ilk.
Datuk Zaid, an excellent and insightful analysis of a psychosis.
ReplyDeleteLet's pray for Tun Mahathir's speedy recovery from a convoluted and confused mind.
CarTun Mamakthir has just openly declared that the malays are mentally challenged and incapable of achieving any measure of meritocracy. Hence he justifies that the malays need to be protected at all costs. He further reasons that merit based performances are detrimental to the malays. I can only conclude that this CarTun is not senile but an evil scheming venomous snake with his agenda to divide this country and install his son as the next Prime Mamak.
ReplyDeleteTo itsy-bitsy 8.25 am
ReplyDeleteYour silly name tells you only have bits and pieces in your skull, not much brains.
People listen when kutty speaks ? Only fools listen to and believe him, the rest just laugh and roll their eyes. He might have conned a lot of Malays once but not today. Today Malays can see right through that brown skin into a very black Kerala heart except for a simpleton like you. When you wake it would be too late, he would have taken the last bowl of rice from your grand children and given it to his own.
Mahathief a relevant force ? A spent force might be better. He had his chance and he screwed it up. In fact he screwed it up for everyone, particularly for the Malays. The Chinese will survive anywhere, even under that little bit of your bikini ! Enough said.
Open your blind eyes miss Tiny before Mahthief goes for you too.
Anon 6:31PM,
ReplyDeleteWow, I really like your 'hentam' crisp and sharp; I rolled in laughter and nearly fell off the chair!
Mahathir had been resorting to this dirty tactic to get the Malaysian Malays to rally support for him and UMNO. In the course of this process, this Nation pays a heavy price and the racial divide is rearing its ugly head more than ever since 1957.
