Alan, our local point-man, had arranged a meeting with a retired army officer. On the dot, this ramrod of a man approached us. It has been proven that old soldiers don't die, they just fade away......but they take a long time to faze out their posture, their bearing etc. Just like how we can pick out the Special Branch, you can always pick out an army officer, active or retired.
After the normal preliminaries about the current Postal Vote practice I asked: During your time did your soldiers vote?
"NO, I asked the corporal to do the voting". Period.
Howszat?

Dear Zorro,
ReplyDeleteTo prevent postal fraud, MAFREL and party reps in the voting station need to ensure the following :
1. Double check the Army personnel particulars before they are allowed to collect the postal voting slips - their name and BAT/C/10 must tally with the election roll list!
2. After voting time close at 5 pm., All postal voting slips not collected by army individuals MUST BE DECLARED NULL AND VOID or Destroyed. This is to prevent subsequent possible abuses / fraud.
3. A record of above must be maintained by all those present / involved inside the postal voting room.
Hope the above make sense.
