Indian visitors inspect the different varieties of mango displayed at a mango exhibition at Jubilee hall in
Enjoying this variety is fair compensation for a malt-free night. Whilst devouring this delectable fruit, I revisited Lim Teck Ghee's (HERE) commentary in Malaysiakini on Scholarships and Raja Azlan's caution to not question the disbursment of scholarships and Raja Nazrine's speech delivered at the
annual Student Leaders Summit 2007 -- "Celebrating 50 Years of Nationhood" on August 5, 2007, at Nikko Hotel.
......and just like that Raja Nazrin snatched the speech I was reading and said: OK, that's enough, I will read my own speech. Sweet dreams and not made of these (mangoes + heavy read). T'was a dream!
That speech delivered on Aug 5 will remain the mother of all Raja Nazrin's speech. It was impactful, it was topical as we were celebrating 50 years of nationhood. It twigged at my heart-strings. It moved me then to do a posting and made the audacious request that he should consider being our next PM....remember the N in RAHMAN? I particularly liked this:
Also, on this auspicious 50th year of Independence The Sultan of Selangor, HRH Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah came out strong on issues that matters most to Malaysians - corruption, crime, race, religion, education and the brain drain, the environment and of course politics.
Excerpt from an interview: (full interview HERE.)
On Education and the Brain-Drain: His Excellency decried the country's tidak apa attitude to stem the continuous out-flow of the country's top brains and resourceful human capital.
.....there you go.......have a good week.....
But when push came to shove, they showed their true colours.
ReplyDeleteNow we are told we can't ask for a fair allocation of scholarships, places in Unis and jobs in Govt and Govt owned companies and statutory bodies like Petronas, Tenaga etc in line with the provisions in the Constitution of 'reasonable provision'.
So, who represents our interest?
Your rent a Blog is , sad to say same same & overly introspective and quite like the quiet lost fler sitting all alone at the end of the bar counter, reminising for the umpteenth time about the devastating lost love , the depressing lost kakis, the lost terrible this and that. Perhaps you need a kind hearted jolt from a kind hearted soul , that type that says its ok bruder...certainly not nauseous fake sermons from these same same despicable parasites you happen to post again and again this time once more.
ReplyDeleteGood try cowardly NO NAME. Why dont you come over to the Wharf and see me nursing a drink ALONE. But dont be surprised my friends can detect your odor and ask you to leave. By the way if the post hurt you I am sorry....never meant to hurt people I do not know. But if you feel guilt, I cant help you, boy.
ReplyDeleteright on spot, Zorro! right on!!
ReplyDeleteThat sppech was made on August 2008. That was then. There was no Perak fiasco. No debacle. Pakatan's inroad into Barisan territory was a flash in the pan, or so they thought. badawi was the PM. He was not a Tun then. Najib was not even sure he would become the PM, come what may.
ReplyDeleteSo the speech, rather the mother of all speeches, was made in an entirely different set of circumstances. There was no pressure exerted on the Perak Household. Remember Najib had not gone into the Palace on TWO occasions to get his audience with HRH. Adun Hee had not made her impact yet. She was then not the Judas Iscariot of all disciples. The plot was hatching at that time but Pakatan was not even remotely aware.
So the tempo of events at the Royalty household was at their usual leisurely pace. DUN had not reconvened under the rainbow tree. The Building was never sealed. Zorro can still had his cup of black coffee without fear of arrest. You can still wear your favourite black T-shirt of your choice.
Now is June 2009. A period of 10 months had since elapsed after the mother of all speeches. And dramatic times had changed since then. If you expect the same speech or some speech with a simolar content to come out from the Perak Monarchy again at this current time, you are as good betting the world economy is now back to its pre-end 2008 status. Meaning, CitiBank and AIG are still kings. Lehman Brothers are still operating their billions of derivative trades. And so on for General Motors, etc.
And where are these brand names now?
Forget the mother of all speeches. Talk is easy. In Malaysai, when it comes down to anything on the individual's rights, privileges, personal liberties, it always boil down to-
1. who you are
2. what race you are
3. what religion you profess
4. which political Party you belong
Nothing else matters. Forget the Federal Constitution.
Zorro, I admire your dream to share the same opportunities and rights under the Malaysian sun. In truth, you can keep on dreaming. That's the reality of being a Malaysian, unfortunately.

ReplyDeleteWho else to support anymore?? In the last GE, I voted for PR and now PAS wants to spread its legs for UMNO to bang!! What the fuck!
Fuck la, BN or PR all the fucking same one. They will play us out once they have some power.
Now it is better for me to do something realistic and tangible than attend vigils, ceramahs etc etc ... I rather concentrate on my job and make money.
PR or BN ... all are crap.
Uncle Zorro,
ReplyDeleteIts better to enjoy the pakistan or india mangoes rather than listening or reading the speeches from the potatoes.
That Mother-of-All-Royal-Speeches made by HRH Dr. Raja Nazrin and those speeches made earlier by his father were:
ReplyDeletea. just "Academi Exercise"!
b. to paint a beautiful "Picture-on-the-wall" for all Msians to dream on,
c. to keep a "Fairy-tale" alive which tells that Msia have Super-Caring Royal Princes & Kings who will always protect their subjects,
d. to give impressions that HRHs are Guardians of Justice & Fairness.
e. All of The Above.
prince ...royal one !? what about the 3rd one from east-coast ?
ReplyDeleteJust happen to come across your blog through clutrmaps...Anyway, I have never seen such huge mangoes before today. The ones we have imported into the UK are not that big.
