IT did not turn out as expected. The wheelchair that
I was to use has to be used by a relative of Shah. However, since the relative
had decided to vote in the afternoon Karen guaranteed that it would return post
haste after I have voted.
The other surprise was E S Shanker, blogger buddy (donplaypucks and author of “Tiger Isles” had arranged with Karen that he would pick up and together come to UH Minara Timoh. A ride in a bigger transport would be more conducive to my condition.
As I said earlier, in 2008 at 745am I was the first to vote. At 745am this morning the queue was encouragingly long if one had to wait. Many came in with plastic stools. However Karen and Kevin made my case and the SPR personnel were must accommodating.
I have this say: The assistance provided by the SPR from allowing me to cut queue, assisted me in registering, directing me to my Saluran, to the point if lifting me because this new school evidently did not have facilities for the disabled. The staff in the polling room was exceptionally professional and courteous. But of course it is the top dogs in SPR that we are suspicious about. But what was most touching was whilst being wheeled in someone unknown to me call out, “Zorro” from outside the fecing with a thumbs up sign. I couldn’t hold back my tears. Even as I type this out, I could not control my emotions. It was that strong……being able to be part of this gathering which seems to be saying YAH, INI KALI LAH! together with the huge gathering.
Najib just announced Mukhriz to be Kedah MB if BN wins.
ReplyDeleteHe dare not say this early, but hopefully more Umno suppportes of Ahmad Bashah can still cast their votes for Pakatan.
Just voted / ipoh barat /kepayang / everyone in ubah mood /some one commented-all these years /elections / it was only the opp parties wanting change / but this time around -THE MAN IN THE STREET WANTS CHANGE /i thing history is to be made /

Rastaman JB

ReplyDeleteGood to hear you're up and about and soon to continue from where you left off!Godspeed!
ReplyDeleteWe pray for your health ?Uncle Zorro.Keep your emotion in check Unc. cos tonight after counting of votes, comes the dawning of a new Malaysia..... more tears of happiness and hugs will come!!
ReplyDeleteMy assessment thus far had founf that the Malays response has been lukewarm towards PR. We will have a more polarized nation. The Chinese being so united in pushing their interest has consolidated the Malays. PAS and PKR biggest casualty. LKS must resign for pushing us far right again rather than being accommodative uncompromising and not being a moderate.
ReplyDeleteI may be proven wrong but my survey yesterday was telling. Hakbersuara.
Uncle Zorro, even though I have not met you personally, I salute you for your courage and I love your blog.
ReplyDeleteGod Bless you
Glad to hear that you are well enough to vote. Hope you are not wheel chair bound for long. Cheers and take care.
ReplyDeleteDr J S Gill
Zorro.
ReplyDeleteYou are an icon.
chinese tsunami my foot...
ReplyDeletestill a blur asshole.
its the educated urban vs ill-informed rural...
the mother fucker ec paid 8.8m for water color. I didn't even wash my finger. its all gone.
ReplyDeleteec chairman has a lot to answer for the cheating. take him down together zorro?
51.6% won by Pakatan. And still BN holds on due to gerrymandering techniques. So, is this democracy? Obviously not and BN stolen our election vote yet again.
ReplyDeleteAbout time for PKR and PAS to lern from DAP!
ReplyDelete
ReplyDeleteSay what we like, there are still quite a number of voters who will take RM 100 to give away their vote. Especially in Sabah and Sarawak.
In spite of losing popular vote BN retains power in part because of its grip over rural weightage (both East & West Malaysia) where owing perhaps to relatively lower educational level, appeals to parochial considerations of race/religion, “gua tolong lu, Lu tolong gua” and throwing of largesse/money take precedence over governance issues that city folks hold important. The GE 13 results show Malaysians maturing (see the way Perkasa’s no. 1 & 2 were rejected as the case of PAS & its theocratic theme) but still not there yet to change the system. Besides the 6-1 rural weightage (which the constitution sanctions) is based on situation 30/40 years ago where Malay majority Malaysians were distributed mainly in rural areas, no more true today with the rural-urban shift. Overall BN did worse than 2008, and warlords have ammunition to go against the numero ono of UMNO. Anwar can’t push the electoral fraud issue too much without having to explain why DAP performed that well.
Brother Bernard....I am not a God fearing man but HE did answer my prayers this time around! Glad you are up and about. Get well soon...there is still work to be done. Malaysia is still not yet ours!
ReplyDeleteNajib blamed opposition politics for the strong swing of Chinese voters away from BN.
ReplyDeleteBefore TV3 and the mainstream media start bashing the non-Malays and blaming Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and Lim Kit Siang, please remember the contributions of Dr Mahathir and other Umno politicians who spooked Malays daily with their rhetoric over possible loss of Malay privileges if PR took control of Putrajaya.
The sad fact is that after 56 years, much is still seen through the race prism. First-world infrastructure but still a people defined by colour of skin?
PAS has failed urban and moderate malays. They only know how to talk about their religion. They know nothing about public administration and management. Poor in economics, finance and public relations. The fall of Kedah is a point of illustration. Poor administration, talk only but no action and inefficiency of the former MB of Kedah caused its downfall. For PAS to rise up in the next elections, learn from Penang and Selangor in their public administration. Serve the people with concrete substance and not bullshitting them with their so-called religious values and norms including 'hudud' and how women should wear and behave. Learn from DAP.
ReplyDeleteSaari Sungib won by 2,881 majority.
ReplyDeleteHope the Selangor government would once and for all resolve the UKRC land issue this time, as promised in year 2008.
Glad that you voted and will pray for your speedy recovery cikgu. Take Care.
BN got 60% control of Parliament, after various election stunts, tricks and a stupendous US$2.6 billion worth of handouts. BN must stop thinking that they can continue to trick the people all the time. Time for the racists in BN to be thrown out. Address the corruption and wastages publicly. Finally, why does BN need to go into the poster and media war pre-elections, and waste more money campaigning? They claimed to have ruled the country well for more than 30 years. Yet, they are so insecure of their own performance that they needed to resort to handouts and spend valuable money on the poster and media war. Manage the country well and the rakyat will need no reminder about whom to vote for. Chop the poster war by governing well, and the rakyat will know whom to choose, for their next government. Stop treating the rakyat like idiots.
ReplyDeleteMCA is now irrelevant. They hung their whole campaign on scaring the Chinese voters about PAS and hudud and this plan of action had little traction. More than anything else, the failure of the hudud strategy shows how out of touch the party is with the aspirations of the community.
ReplyDeleteChua Soi Lek and gang should resign with immediate effect.
Citizens of Malaysia had been seen screaming their discontentment all over the vast cyber media space, which unfortunately is the final fortress of free media in this nation.
ReplyDeleteBarisan Nasional, a coalition which had ruled over the nation for 56 years was continuously accused of purchasing votes by exhausting large amount of liquidity, controlling national media streams and just recently, exposed of ferrying large quantity of foreign citizens (speculated over 600,000) into the polling stations in order to corrupt the outcome of the election.
Speculations were yet to be verified but without the help of an external intervention, our people are rendered powerless against such extreme measures. With all due respect, we wish not a dramatic counterpart nor are we preaching our speculations; we wish only to be heard. If the UN launches an investigation, the eyes of many more will be watching; and when the global awareness rises, transparency follows and truth shall prevail.
If our voices were robbed within our own land, please help our voices reach the world.

Pity you had to wait in line to confirm registration. We in Penang went straight to the polling stations as we had printouts that confirmed our voting registration. Understand from my wife voting in Selangor this was not allowed..
ReplyDeleteWe kept Penang from the thieves!
Sammy, not true.My son got ours printed and I had an SPR official directed me to my seluran, wheelchair and all. We need to acknowledge when things are done right.
ReplyDeletePak Hussein.....so true. Now ABC (anything but corruption)BEGINS. We need your help as always.
ReplyDeletePlease continue to get well. Malaysia still needs you.
ReplyDeleteThe voting process is not standardise - my station in Klanh even with printout had to q to get saluran/siri no. written b4 casting vote.
God bless!
