KUANTAN BOILETH OVER?

“We Are Ready To Strike Lynas at Their Doorsteps”

“The anger is now boiling over within the community. The people of Kuantan have decided that they will bring down Lynas no matter what!” said Wong Tack, chairperson of Himpunan Hijau’s press release.

The intensity in the struggle for a clean and green environment and a society that respects human rights and life took off during Himpunan Hijau 2.0 on 26 February 2012. This intensity gained momentum, accelerated and shot off the roof during Himpunan Hijau 3.0 on 28 April 2012.

Now, at this highly critical moment, Himpunan Hijau is moved to tears to see the increasing groundswell support shown to this people’s movement by the local community. We are extremely touched to see the massive participation, coupled with intense commitment from ordinary people from all walks of life to prepare for the Himpunan Hijau ‘Occupy Balok-Gebeng 24 Hours’ from 23-24 June 2012.

“This clearly shows that the people cannot stand this issue being dragged unnecessarily on any longer.

The people have now come together in true strong spirit, cohesive grassroot bonding and firm solidarity to put an end to this hazardous issue. They are no more counting on the heartless authorities who have continuously turned a blind eye and deaf ear to their grievances and anxieties. Enough is Enough, Lynas and the authorities must know that the final decision lies in the hands of the people!” said Wong Tack.

“The massive participation from the grassroots has also proven that constant accusations by certain quarters that this struggle is confined to only a few groups are baseless and untrue”, added Wong Tack.

Himpunan Hijau is extremely appreciative that many community groups and NGOs from all across the nation have expressed their support by sending their teams on 23-24 June to stand in solidarity with us. The rock solid support from civil movements and political parties prominent leaders are also very encouraging with confirmed attendance from Mat Sabu, Pak Samad, Wong Chin Huat, Harris Ibrahim & Hishamuddin Rais.

Himpunan Hijau ‘Occupy Balok-Gebeng 24 Hours’ on 23-24 June, at Pantai Balok, Kuantan will be a campaign with the highest intensity of emotions.

“We foresee that this campaign will not only bring down Lynas but will bring about significant positive change to society and the future of this nation”, said Wong Tack.

  1. '...positive change' to the society. Yes, definitely so when the rakyat stand up together fro a noble cause on a singlr platform.
'...future of this nation'. the future can only change for the better on one single factor. And that is when the present Barisan Government is brought down on her knees. My call, your call, our call.

  7. Poor Najib he must be having night mares with so many issues he is facing ! How is this man able to eat and sleep with the submarine problem he is facing in France, he can't do anything as the court in France is beyond his control. In addition he has so many scandals back in Malaysia like the NFA, now the Lynas, Bersih and etc. Back in Malaysia he knows he can do everything but at the end the people are no fools and can judge for themselves what he is doing.
He now can swear again that he is doing is for the benefits of the people. The one thing he could not and did not have the courage to do is to have the shenanigan Mahathir indicted for all the abuses of power as P.M. for 23 years.
If he hopes to win the GE all he has to do is to have the shenanigan indicted and he will win hands down without having to give away one single cent.
The people will surely forget all the problems and have him reelected, just the way AB did immediately after the shenanigan was supposed to have 'retired' ! Or he can phone the shenanigan to shut his smelly mouth and really retire from politics. But the grand son of the pariah can never do that especially now that he is aware the irreparable damages he did during his rule as P.M.. All he can do a great favour for Najib and most of all to all the Malaysian now is for him to kick the bucket right now before the opposition will have his corpse paraded in the shopping mall for all to spit and spew on !

  8. Another sign of a failing post-colonial state:

Like Senegal, stupidly willing to accept the toxic and radioactive wastes of foreign corporations for permanent disposal. (Without any IAEA-recommended Long Term Waste Management Plan in place at all).
    In return for ..... ?

  10. Try asking the Australian Govt to approve a similar plant in the Australian soil...which ever major parties, Liberal or Labor will kiss good-by ever to elected government. Perhaps the "Vibrant Democracy" UMNO professed to practice have yet, to understand what pure democracy means!

  16. Dear Uncle Zorro

U.S. public health authorities classify thorium as a carcinogen:

Meanwhile, some pro-Lynas Malaysians (ruling regime politicians as well as self-proclaimed experts on the hazards of radiation)are happy to welcome the thorium wastes with open arms ! (literally, if you choose to take their words at face value)
