ReplyDeleteMy reflections after attending a DAP Ceramah on 7th April 2011
UBAH! DELIVER THE REAL VICTORY TO OUR CHILDREN!
Dear Sarawakians,
Tonight, I am restless, I could not find sleep. I wonder, are you too like me, also pondering about our future. When you discover to your dismay, that BN’s promises are not translated into action, you should know already, that the BN is out to fool you once again at this coming state election. They intend to once again, let you live with regret for another 5 years, and the next and the next…
You don’t have to attend a ceramah to hear the speakers articulate the issues, nor their critique of BN’s corruption, or rendition of the UBAH melody. You only need to carefully survey your surroundings, and ask yourself, what sort of country you would like to live in. Then you will come to the conclusion that, UBAH is your God given right. You must UBAH, so that you can have a better livelihood. BN has ruled Sarawak for 43 years, and all the time it has been misleading the people, deceiving them into believing that to UBAH, they must cross a mighty river…. O what a difficult thing to do, because a bridge has not yet been set in place!!
Where is that bridge?? Why hasn’t it been built? When can the people be able to cross the river for a better life across the yonder shore?
Development of the state’s basic infrastructure as well as the socio and economic conditions had been sorely neglected, robbed by the corruption and money politics practised by the BN government. So much so that the much needed ‘bridge’ has become a rallying call for change. The people want UBAH, but BN continues to tell us that, “Building the bridge is not an easy task, it takes much time to complete it. Please give us more time.” Sadly, in the end, the bridge will never be built and the people have to cross the river in their sampan.
Let me ask you a question, who in Malaysia is indispensable? Well, it will be hopeless if the people are not determined. That ‘bridge’ is the Malaysia you long for. A Malaysia for all Malaysians, a Malaysia that offers equal opportunities, safe and secure neighborhood, a fair legal system, economic wellbeing and a peace and harmonious nation.
During the Sibu by-election, the people had shown their determination to build that bridge. The people had begun to entrust the task of building that bridge to the Pakatan Rakyat. This worries the BN much, but yet, all they can do is to ask the people for more time!!
Let me say this to you our West Malaysian friends who are seeking change, you need not be unduly worried about our Sarawakian brothers and sisters. They are not ignorant, they know all about the floods, the potholes, the corruption, the ‘white hair one’, and they know that UBAH is not difficult.
Please do not be swayed by the BN’s talk that building the bridge is very hard, nor that effecting change in Sarawak is difficult. Don’t forget that the ‘white hair’ is already in the opposite shore across the river, in the land of plenty. He flies in to see you every 5 years, and drop you a dime or two, weave a few lies, and then demand that you “vote me, vote me”.
Together, for our children’s sake, let us be determined to build a bridge that everyone can use. Can I plead with you, on their behalf, to make a wise decision this time? Bear in mind, the victory of the DAP or Pakatan at this state election is your victory, and your children’s victory!! Your children would have you to thank for, for just such a victory.
The children who attend the ceramah may not understand what is being spoken of, but undoubtedly, they have a dire need for a just and righteous government. I can see it in their eyes, their desire and longing for just such a day. That’s UBAH!
Shang, its written by a lady comrade. She spoke about it after she shot the picture of those kids on Thursday night ceremah and decided to put her thoughts together. I told her I will post it.
