Despatch from MIRI:
DAP Pujut candidate Fong Pau Teck votes in SMK Pei Min, one of the polling centre in the Chinese-majority seat.
After casting his ballot, Fong protests against the practice of BN polling agents taking down the electoral roll number of the voters on a piece of paper.
“This is against Election Act,” he says.
According to Fong, the SUPP polling agents would take out the details with them when they change shift.
“They will then cross check with the electoral rolls outside and make phone calls to those voters who have not come out to vote.
“This may intimidate the voters as they would surprised how SUPP could tell that they have yet to vote.”
He also revealed that he has protested similar practice in other polling centers and the polling officer has tore the notes under his request.
“I hope everyone will obey the Election Law.”
Fong says he is confident about winning, adding that he has slept well last night.
But, he refused to reveal his assessment. “Everyone will know when the result came out. I’ve faith in the voters of Miri.”

Internet interruption. I had to lend my Broadband so I am relying on wifi.....reception not too good...
Very often I wonder why we have the Police. Stupid of me to have such doubts….of course they are paid by us to protect the people we are against – the BN government. This is what happened in Kuching last night…..bad losers so they take revenge on vechicles…..When Sarawak falls to Pakatan Mun Kok Keong had better sent in his transfer papers….those whose cars were booked will “book” him for sure. All eyes will be on 28 hot seats identified byMalaysiakini. Pakatan has set its target on denying BN its two-thirds majority by winning at least 24 seats.
The constituency with the largest number of voters is Pending (29,498 voters) while the least number of voters is in Ba’Kelalan (6,958).
Polling opens at 8am and will close at 5.30pm. Unofficial results should begin trickling in at about 6pm.
According to the Election Commission, the final results are expected by 8pm.
However, some polling stations in a number of rural seats will close as early as 11.30am due to the small number of voters. Unofficial results from these areas will be known much earlier. Helicopters are being used in 15 voting centres.
LAST MINUTE STORY- TAM SIM, OH SIM, BOH SIM!
Subject: FW: A true story from Sayang Sarawak
An elderly man met Dr Sim during his walkabout in Kenyalang Park.
He asked: Doctor I hear you are a skillful doctor of the heart.
Dr Sim: Yes I believe so.
Old man: Tell me doc, there are two heart ailments I want to ask if you can heal?
Dr Sim: Yes, what are they?
Old man: Can you heal “tam sim” (a greedy heart) and “oh sim” (an evil heart?)
Dr Sim: speechless and walks away…
Dr Sim is BN candidate for N.10 Pending against Violet Yong of DAP.
Dr Sim should not be in politics.
ReplyDeleteHe should transplant the greedy hearts of those BN leaders instead.
I think he will be better appreciated this way.
A toast to Sarawak, a toast to Zorro!
ReplyDeleteThank you Bernard and Fauzi ! all eyes are on your blogs for real-time stories from Sarawak today. Keep it up. And Cheers and Godbless....you have your 3 for 10 and I will have my 1 for 10 !...sigh !!!
ReplyDeleteMore tomato power to Kuching! More tomato power to Sarawak! Yes, our East Malaysians simply love tomato sauce! I found this out during a trip many, many years ago when I asked why their longkangs were reddish in colour. Turned out whatever they cook, fry or stir, tomato sauce is added. Good colour too so guys, please paint the whole town and State RED!
ReplyDeleteAnd aim a whole ripe tomato at Taib on my behalf............

ReplyDeleteout of people with his forever grin. I will give my vote to Violet Yong anytime!
Uncle Zorro, It's good to see your blog can continuously sending out progress for the 10th Sarawak State election. Already there were reports of double voting at one of the Batu Lintang polling stations.
ReplyDeleteThe latest news is that DPM abets EC not to give out Form 14 for polling agents to rectified. Is't fair?
ReplyDeleteZorro, can you report on whether trouble maker Wee Choo Keong Sarawak double Dominique lost his deposit?
ReplyDeleteAnon840pm....he garnered only 400+ votes....therefore forfeited his deposit....nobody loves a turncoat.
ReplyDeleteTeoNieChing tweeted from Serikei that RO still did not announce the result. Another possible twist somewhere, so commonly these days deployed by EC.
ReplyDeleteThe people of Sarawak have spoken: “better with the evil that you know, rather than another evil that your don’t”
ReplyDeleteCongrats to DAP and PKR for the wins. I would not say that PAS is rejected by Sarawak. Change cannot be overnight, but what is important is, the process of change has begun.. There is alot of work cut out for Pakatan in Sarawak. Same goes for Sabah... In view of great need for polling agents, it would be helpful to start compiling the list of volunteers in preparation for GE13.
ReplyDeleteZorro,
ReplyDeleteDo you still remember the following comment???
"Very Good Topic!!!
Do you agree on the following???
DAP (15)= Only win in Chinese Majority areas.

Zorro, please go for your well-deserved rest, while mca is heaping further misery to SUPP with further insults. Actually SUPP made the mistake of inviting CSL to Kuching to create further damage to the, selves.
ReplyDeleteEach time there is a credible leader that comes out from PKR, UMNO will go out of the way to entice them over. UMNO's greatest fear is PKR, and they will never allow PKR to flourish, only the Rakyat can.
ReplyDeleteBaru Bian, could not be bought over, just look at the time the PM and DPM spent to bring YB Baru Bian down in this remote constituency of less than 7,000 people, 27 times the size of Penang? They just wanted to finish him off politically, but, fortunately, the whole machinery of the State of Sarawak and the Federal Government failed! YB Baru Bian and the orang ulu, Ibans for once showed BN, they understand what is going on.
As far as DAP is concerned, the continued plundering of the wealth of the nation, had irked the Chinese and business community beyond redemption. The Chinese do not depend on the Government for handouts, like those UMNOputras, they slogged for their monies. And when there are not enough monies going round in economy, they are fhe first to feel it.
Without doubt, DAP's presence in Sarawak for the last four decades and their performance of their MPs had stood out! They fought for the suppressed, like what Karpal and LGE did when helping minors reportedly raped. They ventured into territories that no one dares to venture to help the unfortunate, this brings them tremendous amount of credibility.
PKR members should be steadfast in their committments for change, they must not be easily influenced by the money, the good life! If they need to go for real change, they need to sacrifice, it is good that three YBs from PKR were elected this time. Had they won 20 seats yesterday, can we guarantee that there will be no festival of frogs?
Overall, doubling the representation of its reprsentatives in the State Assembly itself is an enormous achievement! Congratulations, Pakatan Rakyat! Reducing the popularity votes by 8% is incredible indeed, given the short campaigning period and fighting against the whole State election machinery and the Federal election machinery! Well done, Pakatan Rakyat. Kudos to all Sarawakians that went for change!
It is the rural areas whose mentality that needed to change. They are afraid to make the change. DAP’s win in urban areas can play a good part in bringing the “good news” of change to the rural areas.Change of mentality takes time.
ReplyDeleteThe election areas were engineered by BN to confuse the people of who is winning in the election, so all the seats in opposition areas were more voters than non-BN areas. In this election, BN only got 55%, 45% voted for PR and indepandant candidate.
DAP and PKR must recruit more iban, bidayuh, kadazan/dusun. PAS should be always be reminded of where it should and should not contest. If you really wanted to know. The number of West Malaysia voters who voted for PR is in fact more than BN on 12GE. But due to Sabah and Sarawak voters that the numbers added up so that BN won by 52.2% only!
The rural peple mus learn that if BN continues to rule, then Malaysia economy will be doom. “City people” to come to rural areas to fight with their land. Just like the way IOI, Felda Plantations Sdn Bhd, Sime Darby robing their NCR land. And if they want their children come back and continue to be farmers, “pungut hasil hutan” and fishermen due to economy in city is bad. Then go ahead, and continue to vote BN forever!
Malaysia population is getting larger. There are not enough free land giving away to people unlike Tun Razak days where he used to bribe voters with free land in the so-called Felda scheme. Luckily land in rural areas are cheap, BN are able to give away land, especially in Sarawak and Sabah. But in West Malaysia, many of the state land are already given away. NO more free land in West Malaysia. You can think of politics in Sabah and Sarawak still like the 1960s days where free lands were given away by Tun Abdul Razak.
Hopefully PKR and DAP are prepared for a strong election team for a change in federal government in the coming 13GE. And bring a change in economic, legistrative and governance reform.
Zorro
ReplyDeleteI hope your blog will get more traffic from Sarawakians from now on.
It is amusing that the 74-year-old Pek Moh Taib had rushed to the governor’s residence in Astana despite the late hour as soon as the official results were in to be hastily sworn in as chief minister at 10.40pm as if there were higher powers trying to stop him from becoming chief minister.
i am iban and the rest of my kampong folks have been loyal to the government and give our votes every time. We are well taken care and our kids too. We have good road, clinics and schools.
ReplyDeleteWe do not want too much development here, we do not want shopping complex or theatres or supermarket and at same time outsiders start crowding our village and pollute our river.
We are happy with what we have and will get most of what we want. We love the way we are and our culture.
When PR say “Change” we, the villagers are very worried about the changes that will take place if they be the government. AS mentioned above, too heavy development will attract too many outsiders with different culture into our village and hence will confuse or even spoil or generation.
So we choose to stay with BN.
I read your blog once a while, but to be very frank, a lot of Sarawakians who really stays in Sarawak all his life, will reject too drastic changes. These influences of PR from the Semenanjung are merely looking for power and that makes no different with the current one.
One more thing, PR = DAP (fought for the Chinese and once a while for ‘ads’ do give helping hand to the non-chinese) +PKR (All about ‘save Anwar’ and revenge) +PAS (all about Islamic law), please be very sincere to yourself and answer this question, CAN THEY COMPROMISE, put their main agenda aside and do good for the rakyat and the country. Answer with lots of open heart and mind without any anger against the BN.
If any part of your answer, says “TRY” or “DO our BEST”, then PR will give more destruction than construction in my beloved state of Sarawak by going through the "trial and error" process.
Zorro and the rest, we appreciate your concerns, worries and struggle, but we will have to say; “Thank You but NO thank you”.
Taib will go as promised and let we sarawakian decide on that.
We will also decide for ourselve if we need the change or not, but definitely without any influense by Semenanjung leaders.
For some Sarawakian who are opts for the “CHANGE” they don’t actually spend much of their time in Sarawak!
I’m Iban
Amy Dayang,

Your ½ cent thought? I don’t belive zorro will publish such baseless remark! Even the monkey in the zoo (if they can read and understand) will laugh.
Amy, if you are a sarawakian, please ask your father or grandfather or grand-grand father... how they still now own their land? Did they pay for it?
Tun Abdul Razak did alot for the nation economy and because of FELDA we are at one time the major producer of palm oil.
Amy, go back read history and learn how to respect, at least start from your own parent.
