Will the 400,000 PKR members remember who the real enemies are? Two PKR MPs initiated the move in Selangor to have aduns and aides investigated. Unfortunately
an aide ended dead. Fortunately one MP has leap-frogged out of PKR whilst the other is seeking ascension into the PKR hierarchy!
SO I ASK AGAIN. DOES PKR WANT LEADERS OR RINGLEADERS?
I say PKR needs a leader like Zaid Ibrahim.
Another leader said the same thing. She is none other than Puteri Reformasi, Nurul Izzah.
“PKR is the party of the future,” Nurul said, pointing out that the party did not want “wolves in sheepskins”.
'We need Zaid' she said in Kuching last night. HERE
At a press conference before returning to Kuala Lumpur this morning, Nurul indicated her support for party leader Zaid Ibrahim who is set to face vice-president Azmin Ali for the deputy's post.
“In my speech I was referring to some narrow-minded politicians at national level, who talked about the interests of certain racial groups only,” she said.
Who the PKR members choose as their Deputy President will decide on how the journey into Putrajaya will unfold. PKR cannot afford to back a narrow minded politician. It may even cause the breakup of the coalition.
Possible probability or probable possibility?
I may not have Zaid's ears but I would like to caution that he not burn any bridges. Zaid is aspiring onto an important position. He needs to stress more on the strengths, past, current and future, rather than weaknesses of PKR. When one works on the strengths, it invariably cancels off some of its weaknesses. Focus on your strength and the strength you can bring to strengthen PKR. Leave the weaknesses to detractors.
Think deep about this whilst I get ready to go celebrate Malaysia’s 47th birthday and Anak Bangsa Malaysia’s 1st birthday at Rumah Anak Bangsa Malaysia.
Its election season. So some degree of below the belt hits are bound to happen no matter where. Its the 400,000 members of PKR who will eventually decide who shall be the Deputy. In the run-up to the election, each candidate and their supporters will of course express support for their prefered candidate. This support can come from MPs, ADUNs, NGOs, leaders, etc. Whenever we hear or know of below the belt attacks, we must voice our dissent. Other than that, let the battle begin and may the best man/woman win. Hope there will debates.
ReplyDeleteUMNO is the chief factor to cause the demise of Barisan. If the PKR delegates are not wise enough to choose with wisdom, you can kiss goodbye to Pakatan. DAP and PAS shall be left stranded like MCA, Gerakan and MIC. I'm still in for the idea of having someone who can lead a 3rd coalition without the trappings and zebra-stripes of both Barisan and Pakatan.

Yes, it is that time of the season, all this jockeying for position within party but how I wish someone (of standing) would come out to say to all aspiring candidates - success in internal poll is no guarantee of position in future general election.
ReplyDeleteI think that is a fair statement to make but how far it rings true depends on the party itself - reason being - why should any entity be confine or limit the choice of suitable candidate - the best/better individual aren't interested with party affairs.
This is not a slight, for beyond the career politician, many others have a vocation that takes their time away from attending to party affairs. I guess another way to frame my query - are lay members without office barred from the selection process as future candidates ?
See the dilemma ?
Was it a lapse with Azmin when allegations of racun letters went round or is it sheer insecurity or lack of confidence or what? Or just wayang?
ReplyDeletecayalah uncle bernard!
ReplyDeleteway to go.
the more i see azmin, the more i just hate him.
i cannot trust him anymore.
a snake he is in the making.

Cikgu, you getting too personal in your support for Zaid.Seems like you want Zaid in at any cost. The man himself has been saying a lot of things publicly that is damaging to the party. To me, that is not right. Just like sheep in wolves clothing, we should NOT air dirty blankets in public. Let the dice fall, where, and as it should. The party must always be bigger than Zaid, Anwar or Azmin. That is what we want. As for the reflections of UMNO, it may not be an entirely fair comparison. People who were previously UMNO members may still bear its stench. But given time, and progress in the the right direction, it will wear off. PKR is evolving for the better- I believe. Be patient. Stop pressing your choice so hard, lest you hurt the party. As for me personally, I think Zaid is also taking things too personal.Too sensitive, too emotional and the man remains aloof. What PKR needs are more street fighters, people who can work the ground and show results for it.If Zaid can get off his high horse and do that, he may well, do well for himself and PKR.Let the membership decide who they want. Make your choice known sir and sit back and let democracy play its part.
ReplyDeleteAnon1242am....thank you so much for your input. This are comments that my posting is inviting. Your inputs are one of those topics which we need to address to Zaid. Coming from me it might sound vindictive but coming from commentators like you it might be convincing. Thank you again sir, and I totally agree with you.
ReplyDeleteHabib Rak....my thoughts too.
ReplyDeleteCasper....precisely!
ReplyDeleteAnon1015pm....that alleged letter from Azmin was supossedly sent to the MB Khalid. Till now Khalid has not denied the contents of that letter.
ReplyDeleteAnon1242am....not personal per se, more personal conviction, that Zaid has better qualities of a leader. He has proved himself as a leader in his law-firm,still the largest when he relinquished his interest in it.Why give up all these? Leaders make supreme sacrifices for a cause that they believe in.
ReplyDeleteAs a concerned citizen, PR supporter and observer, my support is for a candidate who dares to be bold, different and able to strike out a new direction for his party in the interest of nation and rakyat Malaysia. We have suffered enough at the hands of treacherous, conniving umno politicians and we don't need another one within PKR or for that matter PR camp, definitely not one who secretly indulged in treacherous schemes to unsettle his fellow party collegue. Yes, I feel Zaid Ibrahim is responsible and deserves the rakyat's confidence. Let good sense and judgement prevail.
ReplyDeleteWell said, zorro!
ReplyDeleteIf Zaid Ibrahim loses, I am done with PKR. I will still vote for PAS and DAP in the next general elections, but PKR will get NADA, zilch and TELUR VOTES from me!! Why vote and support another second coming of UMNO??
My view is that Azmin has made a mess in Sabah . Most Sabahan do not want a non Sabahan to lead.
ReplyDeleteZorro
ReplyDeleteI must commend you for your tenacity on this matter. It is a hallmark of a good citizen who cares for the nation.
I hope your effort will be rewarded with a clearer conscience among the PKR members before they cast their vote.
Keep it up.
Winning and losing is just two sides of the same coin. When the line is drawn,we have to pick the side we are on.
ReplyDeleteI am on Zaid's side and I stand up to be counted.
Zorro,
ReplyDeleteI agree...I like Zaid better. He has shown his stand against UMNO by quitting the cabinet.
What did Azmin show? Nothing. I don't like what is going round about Azmin. All along he gives the impression that he is kaki bodek Anwar, spineless, and brain less.
let's root for Zaid.
Let us not get overboard with the PKR party election. Azmin may get more endorsement from MPs and ADUNs than Zaid, but it is the voices of the members will choose the Deputy President. This is unlike UMNO election where select few choose the leader and ordinary members has no say in the final selection.
ReplyDeleteThe ordinary PKR members will be the one having the final say.
Zorro,
ReplyDeleteI trust that you have read Zaid interview with MI released today. http://www.themalaysianinsider.com/malaysia/article/for-zaid-winning-in-pkr-polls-is-a-step-towards-putrajaya/
He said, "I do not care who becomes the Prime Minister.....
He goes on to say, "I do not care. I want to focus on issues...
Then he says,"I was an architect of that platform.....
He goes on and on. This is Zaid's problem. He is good but no tact in how he expresses his views. Tak pandai ambil hati. If he wishes to be an elected leader, he must also learn tactful approach. Else, just be a strong technocrat within the team and help steer the team in the right direction.
If he gives interviews in this manner, he supports the view that he is aloof and non team player. Hope this feedback is taken only as contructive feedback. No other intentions.
Habib RAK, I hear you loud and clear. I am totally in sync with your thoughts. I just hope that Zaid LISTENS more. The people in his circle of influence should guide him.
ReplyDeleteC'mon guys, do you really believe Zaid resign freely? Give me a break ! Trouble is you think you know all. How easy to hoodwink you guys. With good media network, some money to pay for drinks, everything is believable. Everyone you don't like is branded ex UMNO. Which heaven Zaid came from? He's so CLEAN!
ReplyDeleteOf course PKR needs a leader like Zaid. When he leads, others don't have to worry about attending meetings. Suffice to just express your views thru the press. You can take a few months leave if you feel no one listens to you.....
ReplyDeleteSure, I need a leader like Zaid.
When Hishamuddin Rais asked 'Who will throw UMNO out of Anwar", I wasn't quite sure what he meant. I guess now it now getting clearer. We (all PKR-PR members) must get this UMNO out of ANWAR-Azmin & CO before the doors to Putrajaya are opened to PR. 53 years of UMNO-BN is enough. WE dont want an UUMNO branding PKR. With all the BUYING OF MP's (Perak), I just wonder if ANWAR-AZMIN & Co has also been bought over????
