ZAINUL ARIFIN, FHUT THE SUCK UP AND READ THIS.....

By Thomas Lee

I now understand and support Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng’s decision to boycott the NST group of newspapers and stop the state government’s subscription of the papers.

It is simply beyond an intelligent person’s comprehension how an editor could arrive at the conclusion that the protest against the high-handed methods of the MACC is a challenge to the Malays. Only an immature, insecure and not too intelligent person can look at the Teoh Beng Hock case from a racial perspective. OneMalaysia? Nonsense! If we have people in positions of power and influence with such racialist mentality, there can never be OneMalaysia.

I have just retired as a journalist after nearly 35 years in the profession, and during my years as a reporter, socio-political analyst and editor, I have identified five types of journalists in the media community.

First, there are the EEs — Editorial Eunuchs, who take orders from their political emperors and write and spin stories to promote the emperor’s cause. These political appointees are usually in top and senior positions, not because they are good journalists or great writers, but because of their connection to powerful political godfathers. They are first class cronies. Many are ghost writers for their political masters. Some have become millionaires.

(Note: I thank God that, except for one or two cases, the editors I had worked under are not such people. I can vouch that people like Ng Poh Tip, Michael Aeria, Wong Sulong and Wong Chun Wai are good people of principle and top class journalists, not EEs. My good friend Chong Cheng Hai, the chief editor of theSun, is another person of integrity.)

Secondly, there are the PPs — Press Prositutes, who have sold their souls and principles to gain favours and privileges from their political and/or business clients. They will write what pleases their political masters. The amount of hampers and gifts they receive during festive seasons is perhaps a good indication of their rising status in their media organisation. (Perhaps the MACC should consider looking at this practice of giving editors hampers and gifts during festive seasons).

Thirdly, there are the MMs — Media Marionettes, the puppets who have no brains but are used and abused by opportunists to advance their own political or business agenda. They usually feed such journalists with twisted information and deceive these gullible writers to propogate their schemes of things. Our education system has produced many such gullible, unthinking, uncritical, and dumb people, and some of them are found in the media organisations.

Fourth, there are the JJs — Junket Journalists, those who will write anything for the sponsors of their overseas trips.

Finally, there are the WWs — Wise Writers, the rare breed who know how to survive through the controlled press situation and get their honest views into print without rousing the suspicion of their media bosses, who are usually political cronies. There are very few such honest writers with integrity and principles, and they are usually not in positions of power.

How can we expect to have OneMalaysia when we do not really have a free and credible press? If our prime minister is truly sincere in wanting to take take the country to greater height as OneMalaysia, then the first thing he needs to do is to liberate the press by abolishing the oppressive legal restraints such as the Printing Presses and Publications Act, the Internal Security Act, the Official Secrets Act, etc. and enact a Freedom of Information Act. Then, he must revamp the whole system of administration to get rid of those known to be corrupt, racist, and incompetent. Most importantly, there must a reform in the judiciary, enforcement agencies, the election commission, etc. He must also reinstate local council elections.

OneMalaysia? It will remain a slogan and a dream if the current federal government does not take concrete actions to reform the whole political and administrative environment in the country.

If the Barisan Nasional administration is unable to bring about such reforms, then we must throw it out at the next general election.

AND AS NIGHT FOLLOWS DAY, THIS EE WILL GET HIS DATUKSHIP SOON.

HOW CHEAP AND FRAGILE CAN A DATUKSHIP BE THESE DAYS.

I used to read Zainul's column until I boycotted the Main Stream Media. Zainul rose pretty slowly I believe but this was some kind of double promotion when he became Group Editor. And then things changed.....which brings to mind a well-flogged management change story that goes around. An ordinary worker can only afford to paly football. If and when he becomes a supervisor, he goes for tennis. Should he perform well he gets to be a manager and in some good companies, he gets a golf membership. Story behind the story: the higher you move up the BALL gets smaller.

+++++

And Zainul, if you think people have nothing better to do why don't you click HERE and see who attended the gathering at Kelana Jaya Stadium on Sunday.

    Anon Hj Mohd 3:01PM,

zainul arifin, as everyone else, is entitled to his own opinion.
it is not provocative or repulsive. it is his opinion. you may not like what he says. you may not agree. you don't have to agree. in fact, it's good that many people don't agree.

do i agree? that's not important, i don;t agree with many opinions and actions fo people, including political leaders. both sides of the divide... so..zainul has expressed his opinion. he takes responsibility for it.

he is not a racist nor is he trying to incite racial sentiments.that's how he sees the whole thing. if you don't agree, that's ok."

I am not so hopeful as NS. I think these BH and Utusan hacks are out to provoke racial intolerance and more! We don't need scumbag journalists anymore than we need scumbag politicians or anti-corruption investigators!

  2. Racist are aroused!

Anybody aware that the scenario goes fuckin way to make us anger ?
They're orchestrating a doggy rhythm to lead us to that scary (numbering) day.

    Threatened ? Scared ?
We should unite, fellow. Scary makes us weak, and weaker!
Each times when we are in a damn weaker situation, we shout loud this-"saya anak bangsa Malaysia". Should we just keep on shielded ourselves into this ?

    Shielded accelerated collapse !

Think of something (legally) , be united and do something to make them know that we are NOT weak!

  3. "Datukship"? The streets are lined with them, real cheap these days! You just need to call out and many in the crowd will look your direction!

But to give this EE who sells his soul, a "Tan-Sri" is an insult. He deserves something better -"Tan-Das"!

  4. I was Zainul's colleague for a number of years. Right now he is a racist of the first order. His article is replete with lies, innuendoes, racism, bigotry. He has no shame. He will sell his soul for five sen. He has no soul, he has no compunction. He is the pits. he is like Ahmad A. Talib, his master. Ahmad is a bastard of the first degree. Ahmad Talib, like his god Kadir A. Jasin, will sell his soul to the hightest bidder. Zainul is no better. Today, Malaysians of all walks of life now see the real Zainul. Zainul, you have no shame. You shame your parents, you shame your race. All, for a few dollars more.

    Do I see you there?

  7. Uncle Zorro, try this experiment and see what reaction you get. Change TBH's name to a Malay name, anything, like Ahmad bin Kadir. It would be an interesting point to make. Also, change all the MACC people to names of another race.

  8. Zainul, to say you are a bastard is an understatement. Ahmad Talib, to say you are a first class bastard is an understatement. To say Kadir Jasin is the biggest bastard of all is an understatement. These bastards are the reason why journalism has gone to the dogs. These bastards are the reason why the people have lost faith in the Barisan Nasional.

  9. I am not a journalist, but I know some of them. I miss the real stories such as what really happened, who actually did what.

I wish One Malaysian will be more professional and factual. Like, what really happen to late Teo Beng Hock. What really happen to him? My heart goes to his family, his fiancee and an unborn baby. We should really think that, what has happened to him can happen to any of our family and friends.

As Malaysian, I still cry for him, tho' I don't know him.

Let's have a reflection of what happen to our authorities and how they handle certain situation nowadays.

  10. I have a friend working in NTV7 and she has long complained that ever since Najib Tun Razak took office, the entire top management of NTV7 changed for the worse, becoming more dictatorial and ass kissing than ever. There are many more people who work in Media Prima companies who are also disgusted with the top management.

They are a goldmine for information. That is why Najib Tun Razak's gang appointed to control the media cannot stop leaks about their editorial policy because there are thousands of Malaysians in Media Prima waiting to spill the beans to their friends and family. So to those dumb fools, I suggest they be more circumspect in ordering people in their organization.

  11. Thomas Lee is a fine one to talk - he was party to all that he accuses others of doing.
He begged Sulong to take him back years after he left the paper. he talks so much about principles - but I have never known him to hold on to any kind of principle. Although he was making numerous mistakes and bad calls The Star still kept him. He knew how to suck up to the bosses and knew when and how to show that he was working and therefore still useful to the newspaper. So glad he finally left - albeit under humiliating circumstances.

If I were Thomas Lee, I would keep quiet lest someone spills the beans.

  12. If you watch movies, during a war, the retreating parties always try to light fire along the way to distract and prevent advancing opponent. Just watch and more distraction will come. Stay focus and win the war, not fight minor battles. Serve the people well and they have eyes to see. The truth is color blind.

  14. Allegations when they are made should be substantiated so that they are more than mere shots in the dark. The more serious the charge the better should be the evidence, even if it were only circumstantial. And, when the aim is to influence opinion, as What Thomas Lee appears, with his social stature, prudence must be the watchword.

If Thomas Lee had even a semblance of responsibility, the accusation should have been accompanied with hard information. But, when all that is put on offer are lame inferences, faulty presumptions and uninformed conclusions, the end result is a ludicrous piece of writing amounting to nothing more than a desperate example of political opportunism.

  20. We have read columns written by the new NST and BH editorial boss Zainul Ariffin and more often than not there's always a tinge of racial undertones in his writing. His political master should be proud of him.

It has reached a point where journos in the Umno-controlled papers are now in tune with each other to propogate and justify themselves with racial rhetorics that will justify their being in position of power. Honestly, this kind of people have a king-sized inferiority complex. So they are what they are.

As one commentator put it: " It is these "covert bigots" who present the biggest challenge to Najib's efforts to build a united nation and his promise to create a nation of peace and harmony.

This moronic group managing editor of NST and BH uses his column to promote his own spin to please his political master whoever he is and finally got his reward as NST GME. This is a person to keep a wary eye on and see how he will twist and turn BH and NST into contemptible rags eventually. I used to buy the NST but no more. It's now a newspaper where you DON'T get to read the real news and the truth. It's full of craps.

Just imagine how those non-Malay staff, especially in NST, would feel if they know that their boss is a racist who writes like a ketuanan melayu and an Umno ultra. How would they come to terms with this uneasy situation in the NST?

What this dumbass wrote in BH truly reveals himself for what he is - a racist editor with a dark agenda on his mind and belonging to the same league as those operating from that mudraker, Utusan Melayu. Not to mention another one who is now running the Malay Mail.

Zainul's racist comment can erode harmony and create greater animosity. It should be deemed seditious enough to warrant him to be hauled up for publishing inflamatory articles.

Yes, It's a crying shame that this little Napoleon with his blinkered view of bigotry is in charge of two national newspapers and using them as propaganda machines and spewing dangerous rhetorics when the citizenry already has enough political migraine to worry about.

He should be locked up because he's a danger to a peaceful and harmonious society. Najib should wake up and send this pathetic moron a rocket before he does further damage to his image. I'm sure there are much better editor material than this dumbass if Najib looks around.

  21. These Malay racists like Zainul Ariffin have made UMNO their God and in their haste to do UMNO's bidding they have shut their hearts, minds and souls to the truth and justice. They now no longer have any conscience left whatsoever and they fail to see how unIslamic their behaviour has become and how much of a threat they are to the Malaysian nation, and have been for a very long time.

  27. BROS AND SIS, ALL THIS RACIAL SLUR RIGHT FROM THIS EE TO DR M (THE BIGGEST CURSE FOR THIS COUNTRY), IS TO DISTRACT OUR ATTENTION AND ANGER AWAY FROM THE MACC AND GOVT. LET US NOT BE FOOLED BY THEM..AGAIN. THEY USE THIS TACTIC ALL THE TIME WHEN THEIR CHIPS ARE DOWN. WE MUST NOT ALLOW TO LET THEM MANIPULATE OUR FEELINGS AND WEAKNESSES ANYMORE.

PLSE FOCUS..FOCUS ON THE REAL ISSUE HERE. A YOUNG MAN AND FATHER TO BE HAS DIED IN THE MACC PREMISE UNDER MYSTERIOUS CIRCUMSTANCES, WE SHOULD USE WHATEVER RESOURCES WE HAVE TO GET THE ANSWER AS TO WHAT ACTUALLY HAPPENED AND GET THOSE WHO ARE RESPONSIBLE.

LET US ALL DO ONE SMALL THING FOR THE LATE BENG HOCK...OUR GOAL: EACH AND EVERYONE JUST TARGET ONE PERSON OR ONE COMPANY WHOM WE KNOW ARE STILL SUBSCRIBING OR BUYING NST, BH OR UM. AND WORK HARD TO CONVINCE THEM TO STOP IT. ONE LESS SUBSCRIBER FOR NST,BH OR UM IS ONE SMALL BATTLE WON BY US.

How dare you berate a profession which enables you and your family to live the life you are living now.

Now from their very writings, it has emerged that the PM wanted to create a climate of fear and divide and rule just as in Tun M's era.

Open your eyes and ears before you write. If deserving people are given praises I have no problems. Now, WongCW is fighting hard to get a handgun Carry n Use license via his company principal licence holder to protect himself from his 'many, many' threats to his life?? He must be joking for a ball carrier jounalist to carry a fire-arm. Hope he will shoot and kill some innocent guys, and then we can have another Royal Commission to investigate.

  34. Thomas lee is indeed sucking up to the people he mentioned.
If not for them, he wont get contract after contract to work for The Star althought his expiry date is long overdue.
He must be blind to accuse just the NST for being biased and racist.
Hey can we write Malay issues and the Star print it?
And do some people like Chua Soi Lek's views get published in The Star?
    Bad news about him yes.
And how many Malays are in the top rung of The Star?
For an Umno paper, NST have given top places to Indians, Chinese and the Seranis.
Utusan and BH too have given good positions to the non-Malays. Infact they are much valued there.
Also how many Malays have been awarded The Star scholarship?
The paper has the cheek to criticise JPA when they are doing worse to the Malay applicants.
