WILL THE REAL ABE UJI STAND UP?

DR HATTA, MP FOR KUALA KRAI, was good enough to arrange for Bloggers to have a face to face with MU calon, fondly called Abe Uji. So, who is this 50 year old that PAS gave an unprecedented nod as candidate for this Manek Urai by-election.

Mohd Fauzi Abdullah is a successful fishmonger and wholesaler. He did not win this candidacy handsdown. He came thru a very unique PAS Kelantan “structure”. I emphasise PAS Kelantan because no other state PAS bodies employ this process-strategy. You will remember that Kulau Krai Parliamentary and State seats went to UMNO in the 2004 elections. Immediately identified individuals were appointed as “shadow assemblyman” and assigned their constituencies. Fauzi aka Abe Uji went through this process and must have done superbly well, in his own unassuming ways, to have won the unquestionable and unanimous support of the PAS Kelantan hierarchy.

Abe Uji is very well aware that he has to wear the mantle of the late and iconic Pak Su Weil (Ismail Yacob who did not contest in 2004). For PAS Kelantan to hand over this responsibility speaks volumes for this soft-spoken and not easily flustered Fauzi. He carries a certain calm with him and his answers to our questions came spontaneously, never abrasive, more mildly assertive rather than aggressive.

Of course the UMNO skeleton hunters began to look for closets. When they could not tag him with any misbehavior UMNO information chief Ahmad Maslan belittled Abe Uji as a peraih ikan. This angered the fishmonger and fish wholesalers fraternity who will stage a protest this coming Friday at Kampong Laloh.

Like his legendary predecessor Pak Su Weil (who was illiterate) Abe Uji comes into the fray with no degrees behind his name. When he was asked about this he answered with his trademark smile.

After meeting him for the third time let me volunteer an interpretation of that SMILE. Translated, Abe Uji seems to be saying:

PEOPLE DON’T CARE HOW MUCH YOU KNOW

UNTIL THEY KNOW HOW MUCH YOU CARE!

  1. in bn/umno how much you care is not important but who you know will be honoured.

  2. With hand on heart, I can tell you that my recent trip to Trengganu has shown me that lots of racial & gender specific issues has never been resolved with UMNO in power.

If I am a voter, I will want a change, if for nothing else, but just to see the difference between a Pakatan (PAS leader) & UMNO led government

IF there is no difference then there has not been any harm in voting PR in

If the diff is for the worst, then at least I know

I hope the ppl feels the same

And Z, hawkeye thanks for covering the ground

Now that the govt is telling bloggers to "sit boy, jgn main main", I wonder how many of us still have the tenacity of you boys!

  3. In the main stream politics, it is Who you know rather than What you know ! The ruling regime has certainly lost touch with the ground with their high and mighty altitude. The simple folks are just keen to carry on with their daily routine and Abe Uji should blend in well as one of them.

  4. BN and UMNO has lost touch with the people. They live in their fairy land of riches stolen from the very people who voted them in. Ask them to return what was stolen from the Kelantan people, namely the oil royalty. Kelantanese, do not vote for crooks and thieves.

    Good one Zorro,

  5. So what if he is a fish wholesaler. Most impt he has the people's interest at heart.

Look at what a DENTIST can do...building castle and saying he can afford it eventhough it is so obvious that it is way beyond his means.

Look at what DRs and GRADUATES in MCA are doing..building a port that cost billions and only less than 20pc occupied but still insist it is viable. One even said yesterday that shoddy work is only found in a few gont buildings, in actual fact one by one is collapsing or leaking. Sometimes during their free time, some are also doing some videotaping. Some always kow towing and begging for positions.

Look at what lawyers in UMNO are doing..denying the picture he with a woman in a blog site is him eventhough it is so clear it is him. Yes Datuk, we are all shortsighted it is not you. Some lawyer even think a screwdriver cost RM70 each, a standing fan cost RM400 etc. Very smart lawyers.

There you have it...is qualification important esp in politics?

"Original thinking" trounces "paid hacks" every time.

P.S. Can't make it to MU. Too much ABM stuff in the works. And did you notice NTR pinching our taglines to prop up his 1Malaysia!!! Stay safe alwayz, you three musketeers.
