The Hundred Days, sometimes known as the Hundred Days of Napoleon or Napoleon's Hundred Days for specificity, marked the period between Napoleon Bonaparte's return from exile on Elba to Paris on 20 March 1815 and the second restoration of King Louis XVIII on 8 July 1815 (a period of 111 days).
Napoleon returned while the Congress of Vienna was sitting. On 13 March, seven days before Napoleon reached Paris, the powers at the Congress of Vienna declared him an outlaw; four days later the United Kingdom, Russia, Austria and Prussia, members of the Seventh Coalition, bound themselves to put 150,000 men each into the field to end his rule.[4] This set the stage for the last conflict in the Napoleonic Wars, the defeat of Napoleon at the Battle of Waterloo,[5] the restoration of the French monarchy for the second time and the permanent exile of Napoleon to the distant island of Saint Helena, where he died in May 1821.
So, is this 100 days the beginning of the end?
I seldom was hard on Najib as I was on that Baldie Hamid. I found him not interesting as he was not innovative and did not exhibit himself as a man of vision. When he was not handpicked by Tun M, it confirmed my judgment of him. I did not believe that UMNO would put him as PM. But they did. He came ionto this lofty position with a lot of baggage, perceived or otherwise. But he was put up there. He did not labor climbing to that position. He had the easiest of passage even with that baggage..It confirmed the belief that in UMNO post Mahathir, whoever you can manipulate you put him up there, baggage and all.
In politics, we deal with the good, the bad and the ugly. But devilish chicanery I will not stomach. He engineered the Perak state take-over and Perak happens to be my home state. He traded in SOULS which Satan Lucifer himself would have been more circumspect although that was the raison-detre of Lucifer's being - to buy over souls. That to me was demonic, a scheme only born in the deepest depth of Hades. For that I cannot forgive him and the others who conspired with him.
He just completed his 100 days. Whilst many commentators in e-media punctured holes into those 100 days his paid hacks had a field day extolling their master. They were industriously plugging the holes a la Hans Brinker, the legendary Dutch boy who put his finger into a hole in the dyke hoping to save the country from an ominous flood.
Enough jokes have been bandied around on 1 Malaysia. People First is being questioned exhaustively in the Manek Urai ceremahs. Najib has to redeem his slogan Performance Now. It must be remembered that UMNO made him the Prime Minister and not the people. He must perform now. He must plug the holes himself. He must PERFORM NOW. He has to seek a clear mandate from the Rakyat. He serves the Rakyat although UMNO wants him to only serve them and just forget about 1 Malaysia and People First.
If he does not call for an election soon, it will be his Waterloo.
his greatest contribution thus far. the perak coup supported by silly decisions from a bunch of at best incompetent judges. and be fore i forget, higher crime rates for the ordinary citizens to savour.
ReplyDeleteyou never hear this from the sunday sermon preaching editor for the best selling paper, who is more inclined to sell jingles for more honorific titles. i guess hypocrisy pays, dont you agree Zorro?
"Elattuvalapil Sreedharan, the managing director of Delhi metro, resigned from his position, claiming "moral responsibility" for the accident. A committee of inquiry has been set up."
ReplyDeleteBernard, I linked to that news of the crash of Metro Bridge in Delhi from your site.
Being a Malaysian, completely abiding by the value system advocated and promoted by our UMNO led BN, I cannot understand the actions of this managing director of Delhi Metro. Could he not have taken the Malaysian Values play book of Malaysia and blamed everyone else? Why resign? And what is moral responsibility? Is that some kind of a new value system for human beings? How come in Malaysia we don't know one?
and how come a committee of enquiry is quickly set up even before the dust has settled I presume? Should not there have been cries from victims, the opposition screaming their hearts out and then, maybe the Prime ministerial visit to the site before he finally makes that announcement? Our Singh in India lost that opportunity I suppose of being a hero!!
Very confusing man, I cannot recall any of your students, you can include me too la, never mind, talking about two different kind of human value systems and we, Malaysians, have chosen to adopt a superior one!!
