Since Sunday, I have had calls, SMS asking me why I have not paid tribute to my avowed friend and comrade, Captain Yusof, aka The Ancient Mariner. I hope the above graphic explains my silence. I was to have lunch with him tomorrow at the PJ Club, but this is not to be. So until such time when I can accept my soul-mate's sudden demise, I leave you with this Last Farwell. Until then please let me be......
For you are beautiful
And I have loved you dearly
More dearly than the spoken word can tell.....
so let me mourn him privately............
'...for you are beautiful ....' tks !
ReplyDeleteWish i could sing like Roger & play as Chet ....i'm 64 !
Brother, Like you it was just difficult for me to write on his demise at this point in time. I shall it do it later.
ReplyDeleteI was shock and till now still very very sad. It was just a day before that Pokku and Me was talking about Cpt.Yusof. http://pokku.blogspot.com/2009/07/goodbye-captain.html.
Like you He was a blogger with great conviction of what he believe and still continue on that path; where there are a numbers of bloggers who has made an about-turn. And He continue to seek justice till his last day. A great guy indeed.
The last time I met him was at Sri Melayu restaurant where we sat at the same table. I truly missed him and know that he would Rest in peace.
Take care.

ReplyDeleteanother version by the King - Elvis Presley......good version...the King does it best in his own style
Urban Green, I am aware of the Elvis version.....however nothing like the original singer, which is why I wanted to feature RW.
ReplyDeleteThank you Pak Idrus for sharing your sentiments about this giant sailor. We will not allow for him to fade away yet. You take care Pak.
ReplyDeleteZorro,
ReplyDeleteI share your sadness and pain. I must say that was indeed a beautiful choice for a beautiful friend -"The last farewell".
REMEMBERING THE GOOD OLD CHAP NOW GONE
ReplyDeleteThe good that a man does will often live right on after he's gone
So let's all join in to sing together the good old happy song
To help keep the memory of the good old soul for a period that's long
For it's not easy to find a good old buddy you can easily get along

Crossing the Bar
ReplyDeleteby Alfred Lord Tennyson
Sunset and evening star,
And one clear call for me!
And may there be no moaning of the bar,
When I put out to sea,
But such a tide as moving seems asleep,
Too full for sound and foam,
When that which drew from out the boundless deep
Turns again home.
Twilight and evening bell,
And after that the dark!
And may there be no sadness of farewell,
When I embark;
For tho' from out our bourne of Time and Place
The flood may bear me far,
I hope to see my Pilot face to face
When I have crost the bar.
Fair winds and following seas, Captain; you will be fondly remembered and deeply missed.
Thank you, Zorro. I've all but
ReplyDeleteforgotten this beautiful song. The Captain must have been a
lovely person.
