Hawkeye, the Whisperer and I left later than expected. Duke the Whisperer insisted on driving. We went into Grik to take the East-West route but not before we had some best-in-class Jelawat (Sultan Fish) at Lenggong.
We encountered only one police road-block, but it was a breeze getting through for a very obvious reason.
You cannot use the East-West without stopping at Tasik Temenggur. I remember using this bridge to cross over the Dam some twenty years ago. The army would stop you, take your IC particulars. If you take too long to cross the bridge, you will have to answer why you took so long. Seems during the Emergency years, food was dropped or thrown into the lake for waiting Commies. Of course nowadays you just drive through although the ISA is still in force. A bit of an incongruity, yes?
It rained when we were going downhill from the highest point (2000 feet above sea level) but the rolling hills were a sight to behold. A couple of times, Duke thought he was driving an automatic Benz going uphill. Yes, all driving tests must use manual gears, if you get my drift.
When we arrived in KB, Datuk Zaid Ibrahim's people were already waiting for us at a designated venue. Datuk Zaid's mother hosted a most sumptious dinner....and I polished off the durian sambal.
Tomorrow morning, we join Datuk's entourage at 5.15am to Kuala Kerai, as it takes about an hour to Manek Urai from Kota Baru. Goodnight people. We will report again after Nomination.
Real proud to know you all!
ReplyDeleteHugs! :)
Roll on Uncle. Let us hope the people of Manik Urai have common sense and vote wisely.
ReplyDeleteShalom Admiral Tojo
You guys are truly a very SPECIAL BUNCH! Hugs all around and I'll be tracking your moves right here :-)

U all..........
"Da Men...!"
TQ.
With you guys for support. PAS is sure win.
ReplyDeleteipohHUNK
Actually the reason why the army will ask you a lot of question if you take your own sweat time to cross the bridge is not because they afraid you might drop foods to the commies, but they afraid you are taking your time to gather intelligence for the commies, such as to find out which army unit is there, how many soldiers manned the check point, their type of weapon used, observing the bridge structure for planning to sabotage etc.
ReplyDeletehhahahaaha chinamen and alien like pendatangs think they can enter the heart of malaysiana and relate to the kampung folks.. LOL !
ReplyDeleteI wish i was there to look at the blank stares and amused faces at the kampung folks ..and the best part , is if PAS wins, u guys would probably get all high and think that you did hell of alot of swing the votes, when actually it is the local sentiments that dictates the votes..
u guys are really dreamers lah.. lol
best wishes, guys!
ReplyDeletecool cap, uncle. and mr Hawkeye would have looked wayy cooler without the red cap on...hehehehhe...
Uncle Zorro, too durians is not too healthy after a hectic journey BUT it is ok with sambal anyway !
ReplyDeleteHa ha ha and have great fun there
and we will wait for your news update.
Zorro,
ReplyDeleteWish you guys will snatch the victory at M.U., let the Be-eNders eat dust again.
Looks like you boys are having fun.
ReplyDeleteTell us about the mood on the ground. which way is the wind blowing?
No to BN
ReplyDeleteAnon10:10am....spot on soldier!
ReplyDeleteTememggong....we try to have fun no matter what. stay tuned.
Cometh....thanks for coming in to sample whats coming to you. Me chinaman? Me malaysian lah. If you are not a pendatang....you must have evolved from the ground....like worms or maggots. Maggots have their beginning from dead carcass or fetid wounds. Even the orang asli migrated into the country.
ReplyDeleteWhy would someone in Kuala Kerai want to pay for our roti at the famous Warung Roti Canai Sulaiman on learning that we came here from KL. That is genuine appreciation which of course we dont expect from the likes of you. You need not come in here until you have shed your layer of daki, read racism. On second thought, do come in so that my readers will know that we still have specimens like you! Yes do come in, cometh.
The last time I was in KB, must be couple of years ago, I remember going to this "Chinese" restaurant called I think "Four seasons" This is a unique place. They serve all halal chinese food. But the cooks and servers are all Malays. And the food is quite good for a Malay Chinese restaurant. And half of the customers are Muslim and some with the skull caps and turbans. A unique sight! Cool place.
ReplyDeleteGo for it Special bunch!
Well done Duke, Hawkeye and Zorro. Very proud of the lot of you sacrificing time and expenses to make the road trip.
ReplyDeleteCometh, so far Zorro's track record speaks for itself. If I'm not mistaken, Zorro, the 'Special Bunch' and collective of friends have yet to experience a loss while on the campaign trail and long shall that be till the day we 'tukar gohmen'.
Regards all.
