3 YEARS IS A LONG TIME AGO, YEN YEN.

Raub MP Ng Yen Yen today said that there is no cause for concern for the villagers of Bukit Koman adding that she had already looked into the matter three years ago.

“I met the residents, I met the committee, I brought up the specialist to see them, everything had been done (three years ago),”

She added that she had maintained her silence on the matter because when “people refuse to listen to scientific facts, one cannot talk reason”.

Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department, T Murugiah, on Thursday had given the green light to RAGM for the usage of cyanide in the mining process.

Ng said that the matter was closed with Murugiah’s statement.

Citing an example of the resident’s unyielding attitude, she said that she had taken the residents to Banjong in order to observe a gold mine there. There were various live forms around the area such as fish and plants.

“There were some fish in the area. If there are traces of cyanide, the fish will die first. But the fish were still there.”

When Ng had pointed this out to the residents, they had answered: “(We think) the fish were just placed there (a moment ago), as a gimmick to mislead the residents.”

She said despite her consultation with the residents, “they still went on and on and on”.

They will, you bet, go on and on and on, but you.............

PERIOD!

They will continue to talk because their lives demand that they get listened to. It may take three years or more.

Three years ago you thought they believed you.

Three years, many things can happen.

Three years ago you thought we did not know you got Australian PR.

Three years ago you in BN did not know what hit you on 080308.

Three years ago Altantuya was still alive.

Three years ago you would not believe that the Star will feature Dottie every day (with pictures).

Three years ago I didn't even start blogging.

Three years ago I did not believe that I would be arrested for wearing black.

IN THREE YEARS TIME, YOU WILL LOSE YOUR RAUB SEAT, NO?

Three years ago, the people of Kampong Bukit Koman, did not believe that that RAGM was going to start operations in February 2009

.....so that is why they said......

TOMORROW, I WILL TELL WHY THEY ARE WAITING TO DIE.
DON'T GO AWAY YEN YEN OK?

  1. Does she do oral? if she does we can charge her for sodomee.. i think we should get the fishermen together to catch the fishes and send it to her house than maybe she will eat them.

  2. if anything happens, she can conveniently squirrel away to downunder while the poor people suffered from cynaide poisoning.

aint no surprise that the politicians dont lift a finger to help as the local partners in this killer project are no small fry. like i said earlier, go for the weak link first which is to initiate a boycott of biz of one of the local partners. He apparently owns Bandaraya Development (which includes Bangsar Shopping complex). Game on?

  3. There is an interesting section in the book 'Mine Wastes by Bernd G. Lottermoser' The link is http://books.google.ca/books?id=Klc5GN2uDwoC&pg=PA179&lpg=PA179
If you google, it should not be a problem. The very comprehensive description is not very encouraging.
I hope the report does not accurately reflect on Yen Yen's attitude towards the people. Science is a function of technology, and often our knowledge are inadequate at any point in time as our technology to discover is not advanced or precise enough. It would be too late to say'Opps sorry.. we did not know that the cyanide content has leached into the soil and accumulated over time and you people have been hurt.' Of course they are afraid and Yen Yen would be too, if she stays there or if any member of her family does. The refusal on the part of the people is a a testimony of how little the people trust the government and ignoring them is not going to help.Furthermore, how scientific is it to use live fish as the ultimate test cause we read of mercuric poisoning as well from eating fish.I agree that we need more than work done three years ago and certainly more convincing proof as human lives are at stake.

  5. What a waste. We should have asked her 3 years ago to move there with her family and grandchildren to prove the place is perfectly safe.

is safe is not convincing, unless
you are willing to take the risk.

  7. Sometimes I wonder if these MCA MPs are really that dumb, or they think we the people are. Do they think that the people who elect them to their MP positions actually take their statements like this one seriously.

  8. Z

Good posting..hit her where it hurts the most..errr, no orals, please...

Did Ng Yen Yen knows that Cyanide poisoning effects cannot be seen overnight? Has the scientists briefed her on cyanide poisoning? And btw, when Muru goes to visit RAGM, make sure the plant is fullly operational... we do not want because of Muru's visit, the plant declares holiday and no operation onthat particular day...and Muru better gets Sahabat Alam and the NGOs' there too to hear both sides of the story (minus Ng Yen Yen, of course)...

  9. Australian PR... Australian joint venture with Chinaman+Royalty Ali Baba Enterprise...

We must find a way to alert the Australian people to this atrocity. Anyone know how we can get Bukit Koman featured on Aussie TV?

  10. If Yen Yen or Murugiah say it is okay with cynide, ask them to stay in Kg Bukit Koman together with the villagers to show their contention that it is okay with cyanide.

Let's see if that would be okay to them? It really tests their resilience, man!

  11. Ask them to stay there for 3 years from now instead

  12. Someone should ask Murugiah and Yen Yen to drink water from Bukit Koman. Maybe tell them after they've drunk it - and have it filmed

  13. Ng Yen Yen....KNNBCCB...why don't you buy a house there and live with them

  14. The gold mine is owned by Andrew Kam who is the son of Kam Woon Wah of MCA.

I passed this piece of info on to Malaysiakini over a year ago but they have not bothered to mention this BN cronyism in any of their articles. I'm curious why.

  15. For for 3 years, nobody die. That's show that company had fullfill thier promise. I think Ng Yen Yen had done what she should have done. The resident there just panic out from fear. When one is ignorant despite given the professional advise, nothing you can do about this. You can talk reason with this type of people.

  16. Well the test of the pudding is to eat the pie.

If Ng Yen Yen and Murugiah are convinced with their scientific facts, then the villagers of Bukit Koman should warmly welcome them to stay alongside the villagers, drink the same water and see how both will react.

If not, the Maxim of my life is worth more than yours is practised here.Double standards.

Do we really want to see the health of the villagers deteriorated and then only take action ?

Cyanide and hydrogen cyanide in the air is harmful and their discharges need careful monitoring otherwise riverine villages downstream will be affected as well.

Physical distance is no barrier when it comes to pollution, either air or water.

  17. Anon 11:02am. I thought operations began this February. If you were a resident, would you too not get jittery and want the best assurances. It is just natural. They seek more clarification and assurance because they are not convinced. We, who are not in their shoes, need to empathise.

  19. Ng Yen Yen, shut your oral mouth prove it to us.. u say it's safe then prove it.. since u got the seat there, stay there! prove to all Malaysian what u say worth to be taken seriously.. And i'm pretty sure if u does that, the next GE you will win with a bigger majority.

  20. http://ezinearticles.com/?Whats-the-Controversy-Over-the-Use-of-Cyanide-in-Gold-Mining?&id=2075914

Most of the resident just act out of their emotion without any concrete evidence. Cyanide is actually safe in gold mining. With such emotion, even the authority guarantee their safety, they would still don't believe it. Thier emotion is also fanned by the opposition in order to discredit the gov.

  21. Read this as well:

    http://www.malaysiakini.com/letters/105813

Nonsense to claim someone can get sick from cyanide

Don't just blindly and brainlessly oppose everything just for the sake of opposing.

  23. Bukit Koman residents- designated "Tunggu Mati", eh?
Why our Nga Nyen Nyen n Murugu forced us to die this cyanide way?
BN (YY)n (Mu)wanted us (BK residents) to beg for HELP while they were in Kuantan on 25th.,why don't they use their GPS to guide them to BUKIT KOMAN?? NUTS!!
When I saw an Ambulance driving into the Gold Mine Plant= I wish it is a serious accident which would involved DEATHS of the workers!!
When I see containers of Sodium Cyanide going past the village..I wish they would just overturn and spill out the dangerous cyanide.!!
I maybe forced to be CRUEL..but then again , they wanted "PROOF".
The water in the lake nearby the mining plant...was GREEN ...but now it is BLACK.
