The message throughout was so gripping that I viewed it so many times and everytime it sent me into cathartic dizzy spins and teary-eyed moments.
If I do not see you both tomorrow (I need to bury a very loved-one) I will catch up with you soon.
To you Pete and Marina, stay strong as we continue to dream this dream.

I DREAMED A DREAM
There was a time when men were kind
When their voices were soft
And their words inviting
There was a time when love was blind
And the world was a song
And the song was exciting
There was a time
Then it all went wrong
I dreamed a dream in time gone by
When hope was high
And life worth living
I dreamed that love would never die
I dreamed that God would be forgiving
Then I was young and unafraid
And dreams were made and used and wasted
There was no ransom to be paid
No song unsung, no wine untasted
But the tigers come at night
With their voices soft as thunder
As they tear your hope apart
And they turn your dream to shame
He slept a summer by my side
He filled my days with endless wonder
He took my childhood in his stride
But he was gone when autumn came
And still I dream he'll come to me
That we will live the years together
But there are dreams that cannot be
And there are storms we cannot weather
I had a dream my life would be
So different from this hell I'm living
So different now from what it seemed
Now life has killed the dream I dreamed

Togather we will dream for a better and just Malaysia, Zorro. Through Pete and Marina, I have got to know many good and righteous Malaysians irrespective of race and creed. Zorro, you are one such person.

ReplyDeleteSure gave me a few ...
Have a a nice day ..
Apologies to those already know ...
ReplyDeleteI dreamed a dream is a number from the musical Les Miserables and ...
there is another song from the musical which is just as if not more appropriate to us and our circumstances so ...
here's to share ...
Do you hear the people sing ...
ENJOLRAS
Do you hear the people sing?
Singing a song of angry men?
It is the music of a people
Who will not be slaves again!
When the beating of your heart
Echoes the beating of the drums
There is a life about to start
When tomorrow comes!
COMBEFERRE
Will you join in our crusade?
Who will be strong and stand with me?
Beyond the barricade
Is there a world you long to see?
Courfeyrac:
Then join in the fight
That will give you the right to be free!
ALL
Do you hear the people sing?
Singing a song of angry men?
It is the music of a people
Who will not be slaves again!
When the beating of your heart
Echoes the beating of the drums
There is a life about to start
When tomorrow comes!
FEUILLY
Will you give all you can give
So that our banner may advance
Some will fall and some will live
Will you stand up and take your chance?
The blood of the martyrs
Will water the meadows of France!
ALL
Do you hear the people sing?
Singing a song of angry men?
It is the music of a people
Who will not be slaves again!
When the beating of your heart
Echoes the beating of the drums
There is a life about to start
When tomorrow comes!
and Les Miserables is about a minor revolt which became the prequel to the French Revolution and the storming of the Bastille.

Anon2:00pm...just too bad you do not have or are incapable of dreams...(not even wet dreams?)then be happy with your nightmares and hallucinations, child.
inspirational. everything changed bcos a once timid one has decided to step fwd to make things happen and not waiting for things to happen. at age 47 and never been kissed b4 mean it's never too late to make her dream come true. we all can make Msia a better place for every Msian when every one of us can make little sacrifices (of course some making big sacrifices) in realising our dream of a fair and just country comes GE13. may God bless us all! p/s I'm equally amazed at the ex-mobile phone salesman Paul Potts turned instant opera hit ...
ReplyDeleteGave me goosebumps, too, Z!
ReplyDeleteBut it only proves that dreams have no 'use by' date!!!
Hugz from Calgary.
Wahhhh Uncle Z
ReplyDeleteu r soooo sentimental wan ar?
i always believe we are in safe hands with gentle giant monster-busters like you, YM RPK, Admiral Tojo, Haris Ibrahim and above commenters roaming the land.
As for those 2 love-birds YM RPK and his lovely heroic wife - i believe Journey's After All These Years is more appropriate: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SswnbpA2qZ0
When I first saw this on U Tube it had about 200 thousand over views. I just checked and it is like almost 60 million..or at least it will be by the time Zorro posts this.
ReplyDeleteHi Zorro,
ReplyDeleteLove reading your writeups...
I think it will be most appropriate if we can dedicate the song " The Impossible Dream" from the musical " The Man from La Mancha " to RPK. The words are so powerful and appropriate. Pls play this song as a theme song whenever RPK makes an entrance or gives a speech....Like when he arrives for a hearing in court. Use a portable compo with speakers. Imagine everyone singing it together. It'll be so intimidating to all opponents.
The Impossible Dream Lyrics
Lyrics by Joe Darion
In this song, Quixote explains his quest and the reasons behind it ... in doing so,
he captures the essence of the play and its philosophical underpinnings.
(For me, it is absolutely magical.)
To dream ... the impossible dream ...
To fight ... the unbeatable foe ...
To bear ... with unbearable sorrow ...
To run ... where the brave dare not go ...
To right ... the unrightable wrong ...
To love ... pure and chaste from afar ...
To try ... when your arms are too weary ...
To reach ... the unreachable star ...
This is my quest, to follow that star ...
No matter how hopeless, no matter how far ...
To fight for the right, without question or pause ...
To be willing to march into Hell, for a Heavenly cause ...
And I know if I'll only be true, to this glorious quest,
That my heart will lie will lie peaceful and calm,
when I'm laid to my rest ...
And the world will be better for this:
That one man, scorned and covered with scars,
Still strove, with his last ounce of courage,
To reach ... the unreachable star ...
To all of you who's "righting the unrightable wrong", I salute you....

ReplyDeleteWhen I read this post a few days ago, I found it so cryptic. I was trying to figure out what the heck? As events unfolded over the past few days, I think I got it. God bless Pete and Marina. But I believe that's not the end, knowing Pete and what he stood for.
cheers.
