WHY TALK ABOUT CROSSING-OVER?

"Can Datuk Ahmad Ismail’s alleged racist remarks against the Chinese community in Malaysia be the trigger for the MCA, Gerakan and other Barisan Nasional component parties to leave the coalition?"

Since this question was posed, everyone is urging the leaders of these component parties to cross over to Pakatan Rakyat.

Richard Teo wrote in Malaysikini:

MCA leaders should by now be aware of the political significance of the March 8 election which swept the Opposition to power in five states. If there is still any doubt, the Permatang Pauh by-election which gave Pakatan Rakyat’s Anwar Ibrahim a landslide victory should cast aside any reservations of why the non-Malays abandoned traditional race based parties and gave their full support to the opposition parties of DAP and PKR.

Ong Ka Ting, the current President of MCA would do a great service to the Chinese community by taking the MCA out of the Barisan Nasional and joining the current popular Pakatan Rakyat. Ong's decision to change the future direction of MCA by joining Pakatan Rakyat would not only save an otherwise doomed party but would rekindle its aspiration to represent the interest of the Chinese community. Failure to do this would spell the death of MCA as a party representing the Chinese.

SO WHAT WILL OKT DO?

AND NOW ......GERAKAN?

Gerakan acting president Dr Koh Tsu Koon called on the Barisan to issue a code of ethics on ‘how and what to talk in public’.

Gerakan vice-president Dr Teng Hock Nan also criticised Ahmad of being “recalcitrant, arrogant and insensitive.”.

IS THAT ALL WE CAN EXPECT FROM GERAKAN?

AND WHAT ABOUT SABAH?

A
seemingly disturbed Ongkili told Malaysikini

Parti Bersatu Sabah deputy president Datuk Maximus Ongkili said he was fed up with PKR adviser Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim for making “baseless and unfounded allegations about us hopping to the Opposition fold,” as such claims sparked concern not only among other Barisan component parties but also among the people of the two states.

“Talk about us becoming katak (frogs) jumping to their side is a whole lot of nonsense. We are faithful and steadfast behind Barisan.

“Barisan may not be perfect but it forms the best government Malaysians can ever have. I, for one, am anti-hopping. Those who want to leave the Barisan fold should not cheat the rakyat who elected them because they were part of the coalition,” he said on Tuesday.

Maximus, who is the Science, Technology and Innovation Minister, said if there were MPs planning to cross over to the Opposition, they should ask for the rakyat’s permission by going for a by-election.

AND WHAT CAN BE EXPECTED OF SARAWAK?

A Sarawak parliamentarian has today spoken out strongly about the urgent need to end the long rule of the 'arrogant' Barisan Nasional government as rumours of potential crossovers pick up steam with Sept 16 only two weeks away.

MCPX
The MP, an Iban who asked not to be identified, called Malaysiakini to say that Special Branch police officers had contacted him to check whether his name was linked to rumours of crossovers now making the rounds in Kuala Lumpur.

+++++

There has been endless debate about the principle of cross-overs and that you have to get the permission of the people who voted you in if you choose to cross-over. Fair. But leaders must now convince their rakyat to support him because he has seen the light. Their rakyat would be blind if they too has not seen the writings on the wall.

SO WHAT THEN?
IF YOUR LEADERS DO NOT CROSS OVER
YOU SHOULD ABANDON THESE LEADERS.
MEMBERS OF COALITION PARTIES SHOULD JUMP
FROM THE SINKING BN SHIP.
WITHOUT YOU, THE LEADER HAS NO FOLLOWERS.
IT IS YOUR MORAL DUTY TO
JUMP.
YOUR LEADERS IF THEY ARE WORTH THEIR SALT SHOULD FOLLOW

I LEAVE YOU WITH THIS CHINESE PROVERB THAT I HEARD A FEW NIGHTS AGO:

WATER FLOATS A SHIP
WATER CAN SINK THIS SAME SHIP

WE THE RAKYAT IS THE WATER!

  1. Bro,
For unity sake,we should prepare to FORGET and FORGIVE leaders from BN components parties who decided to jump ship into PR...except UMNO,we should bury them alive and let it be history. All BN's members who are believe in FAIR and JUST society, can joint any PR parties.
ENOUGH IS ENOUGH....We cant afford to have another 51 years of misery.

  2. That is surely one way to decide whether the leaders are given mandate to jump. But if not all people are members, how to decide what the majority thinks? Of course holding surveys like the one done by Merdeka Centre are mostly concentrated and not enough. Perhaps a referendum would do?

  3. I dedicate Elton John's "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road" to MCA, MIC & Gerakan
    especially the lines

"There's plenty like me to be found..

    Mongrels who ain't got a penny ..

sniffing for titbits like you on the ground"

  6. Disgruntled BN component parties (except for UMNO) should consider leaving the coalition without joining PR in the interim period and establish the Third Front.

While a two-party system was seemingly an option available post-GE12, it would appear that both BN and PR still prefer the 'zero sum' game-plan.

There is no doubt that Malaysians in general were disgusted with the UMNO led BN hence 49% of the popular votes went to PR as a classic example of defining Hobson's Choice. The PP by-election result further re-affirmed the earlier trend.

It's been six months since GE12 and politicians are still groping in the dark in trying to provide a better system of governance.

Between the devil we know (BN) and the one we don't (PR), perhaps the Third Front can represent the conscience of the nation to ensure unjust laws are not passed in parliament and/or old ones (eg ISA/OSA, etc) are repealed.

Will this faction be called the kingmakers? I honestly don't know but I'd rather they become the Guardians of a Future Malaysia.

  7. The two political events that brought about devastating changes to the UMNO controlled BN hagemony of the race based politics is more than evident that the rakyat want a drastic change in government. They want and insist an END to the BN government that has become the hallmark of wanton corruption, nepotism, cronyism and the usurpation of the powers of the Judiciary and the Police Force.

The rakyat is demanding for a CHANGE. Only conscientious and upright MPs who love the country would understand the plight of the rakyat.

If MPs strongly believe that they are working for the rakyat, then they should LEAVE THE BN CONTROLLED GOVERNMENT that is hopelessly bent on CLINGING on to power at all cost.

MPs from MCA, MIC,GERAKAN,and from Sabah/Sarawak should LEAVE BN which has become a LIABILITY TO THE COUNTRY. WALKING OUT OF THE RACIST and PERFIDIOUS BN government is the MORALLY RIGHT THING TO DO.

BARISAN NERAKA WILL NOT CHANGE ITS CORRUPT AND RACIST WAYS.

ONLY MPs from ALL the political parties CAN BRING ABOUT THAT CHANGE.

JUMP THE SINKING SHIP AND BE DONE WITH IT.

NOBODY COULD SAVE THE TITANIC AND EVEN ALMIGHTY WILL NOT HELP THIS SINKING ROTTON BARISAN NERAKA.

  8. Asking MCA or Gerakan to join Pakatan at this moment will just be a very big mistake. Pakatan does not need racial based parties at this point, so unless MCA can reengineer itself to be non-racial (which to me is nigh impossible), it will just be used by UMNO as their crusade against "a pro chinese" Pakatan Rakyat if MCA joins. Pakatan should make its stand clear that it will not tolerate racial parties. Even Pas is being pressured to open up to non-muslims...

  9. dear maximus ongkili, i think you are very confortable in BN now because you self interest....but sorry not for rakyat. The rakyat had enough of BN/UMNO's dirty government. PBS is nothing now other than "KERBAU DICUCUK HIDUNG".
PBS/BN no longer relevant in Kadazan/Dusun community.

WELCOME DSAI, COURAGE TO ALL IN THE SPIRITS OF TRUTH AND RIGHTEOUSNESS FOR YOUR MAKING OF A NEW DAWN OF MALAYSIA COME TRUE ON 0916, WITH THE FULL SUPPORT OF ALL MALAYSIANS WHO CALL FOR THE CHANGE FOR THEIR OWN WELL-BEING AND THAT OF THEIR CHILDREN

In 2004 GE11, the Malaysian Voters have had given the PeeM AAB 90% of the seats in Parliament with a Mandate of almost full support but what had he done to Malaysia, with his arrogance & ungratefulness, he tried to oppress & betray the Rakyats who put their trusts in him and mismanage the Government and suppressed the MSM News and spun lies and deceits. What could PeeM AAB ever do anything to Ahmad Ismail??? As he himself professes & shares like-minded with Ahmad Ismail the same common seditious thoughts.

Light-up the Candles now and but justice for all ISA detainees come the new dawn of Malaysia soon.

Where is the justice & freedom of expression because all our MSM News are suppressed or spun, where have the Truth and Merdeka gone to, perhaps the goons under BN Government, ok??? Malaysia is going backwards after 51 years instead of going forward under the Racist UMNO, calling the “Chinese Squatters” to leave and “Babi Cabinet” if Anwar wins Permantang Pauh and if he forms the Pakatan Rakyats’ Federal Government. What independence is there when there is none but a Police State in the making and where is the Justice for Altantuya and those in the ISA detention without trial or rights of appeal to seek natural justice???
The UMNO Government is afraid that more cans of worms will be spilled by RPK and therefore they banned his blogsite which is a futile attempt to block information in this IT age, of course this is because of this Present Moronic Government is corrupt and dirty therefore on the pretext of helping the Rakyats, they could extract, swindle and plunder more money from the Budget Deficit and with most of the Deficit Money coming from Petronas. Look for example at the Crystal Mosque’s and Mariner Club’s Fiasco in Terengganu’s Billions in Wang Ehsan, Billions had been lost as white elephants. The cancellation of the Johore Scenic Bridge, Penang Second Bridge and LRT Projects at the whims and fancies of the Flip Flop, Incompetent and Sleeping PeeM at the last minutes is wasting Multi Millions Ringgits in Public Funds had shown proof of the PeeM’s mismanagement of the Government and wastage of the Public Financial Resources and all these wasted funds could not be salvaged to aid and assist the Malaysian Poor Citizens of all races. If Malaysia still keep him in power it will further damage and erode the Wealth of our Nation and our National Wealth could be decimated in no time.
The same could happen to all the empty promises of aid and help to the Rakyats these could all be lip service only unless it is monitored by reputable NGOs. On the irreversible Food Prices inflation, the unnecessary Moronic previous price hike on Petrol & Diesel had caused great permanent damage to the Food Price Structure and even if the price cut to Petrol and Diesel revert to their original prices prior to their hike, it will not revert the Food prices back to their original state and only the PeeM is to be solely blamed for his unwarranted Fuel Price Hike. His 2009 budget did not help the Rakyats’ quelled their immediate hardship suffered nor did that help them solve their Transport Problems immediately with multiple schemes but none available immediately with all the empty rhetorics but nothing concrete that could solve their immediate problems after years of neglect from this incompetent sleeping PeeM. As it is he is still sleeping and still unaware of what the 27 Million Rakyats wanted, needed and aspired to have coming soon??? Come Sept 16, 2008 send him home to sleep forever he is no longer needed.

  11. my opinion? no jumping. i can't imagine PR infested wif froggies like Maximums Ongkili, for example who now say tat they dun jump and they should ask rakyat's permission and DID he do that when PBS jump out and then back in to BN in Sabah? It's this crop of froggies that muddle the whole scene now. Dun make the same mistakes now? Just like the final Chinese proverbs you quote Uncle Zorro, if the defectors and help DSAI form Federal govt today, they can be the same person who will jump back to BN fold the day after!!!!

  12. Pairin Kittingan, the paramount ruler of the Kadazan/Dusun sold his soul to the devil when he joined the BN.

What did he achieve for his people? What did he achieve for his state?

Sabah is one of the richest states in Malaysia with abundant natural sources.

Sad to say it is also the poorest state in Malaysia where the immigrants (mostly illegal)from Indonesia and the Philippines have outnumbered the local population to the detriment of the economy of the state.

This exodus of immigrants into the country was engineered by Mahathir Mohamad to ensure a vote bank in favour of the BN.

Maximus Ongkili has become another running dog for the UMNO. In the process he too is guilty as Pairin who have become the traitors of their own people.

They are more interested in the crumbs thrown to them by their UMNO masters.

The rakyat does not want the Sabah MPs to simply jump like katak but to think of the future of their people and to act wisely.

They should not think of the short term gain but what is in store for generations to come at the hands of the UMNO controlled government.

When a clear ALTERNATIVE is present in the form of PAKATAN RAKYAT, grab it. Taking into consideratin what Sabah has gained in the economic, educational, social spheres in the last 45 years.

The Sabahans and Sarawakians are only Bumiputeras in name but do they enjoy the same rights and privileges as that of the Malays in Peninsular Malaysia?

Think as leaders and do the right thing for your people.
