Dr Mahathir Mohamad has warned of possible unrest in multi-racial
"Now we are seeing the different races making demands on the government, which they perceive as a weak government," the former premier told reporters in
He said "extremists" among different communities had begun to voice their opposition and make unfair demands on the government, trying to "divide rather than unite."
I fervently pray the remarks (highlite mine) you made were not intended to foment hatred amongst the communities. In your day, extremists and those who made unfair demands have never escaped your ISA dragnet. If you hate your annointed and now constitutionally elected Prime Minister, please do not involve us anak Malaysia to topple him. Do it within the ambit of the UMNO constitution.
Let us senior citizens show the young that in our twilight years we are still not bitter, grouchy, despicable, recalcitrant. Let me add, I do not wish any young Malaysians to brand us old folks as intransigently intractable.
Tun, make time to listen to this famously loved prayer of Francis of Assisi and ponder on those simple pleas.
Lord, make me an instrument of your peace,
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
where there is injury, pardon;
where there is doubt, faith;
where there is despair, hope;
where there is darkness, light;
where there is sadness, joy;
O Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console;
to be understood as to understand;
to be loved as to love.
For it is in giving that we receive;
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned;
and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.
And Tun, at home here, this is the plaintive plea of our young Malaysians. Their song was just released less than two weeks ago:
Here in My Home
- Malaysian Artistes For Unity -
Hold on, brother hold on
The road is long, we’re on stony ground
(But) I’m strong, and you ain’t heavy
Oh there’s a miss-spoken truth that lies
Colors don’t bind; oh no
What do they know? They speak falsely
Here in my home
I’ll tell you what it’s all about
There’s just one hope here in my heart
One love undivided
That’s what it’s all about
Please won’t you fall in one by one by one with me?
(Chorus)
Fall in, fall in
Fall in with me
Fall in, fall in, fall in with me
Push back sister won’t you push back?
Love won’t wait, just keep pushing on
Yes I’m strong, you ain’t heavy
Oh don’t you worry about that
What we have shadows can’t deny
Don’t you know it’s now or never?
Here in my home
I’ll tell you what it’s all about
There’s just one hope here in my heart
One love undivided
And that’s what it’s all about
Please won’t you fall in one by one … ?
(Rap)
Years of fears and years of tribulation
The heart keeps searching for that endless devotion
Hand in hand we’ll march like blood brothers
I speak for my people, hope we’ll find peace forever
May the road ahead quench my thirst for success
May the road behind echo a song of the blessed
Yes I feel it in my bones, so I will let it be known
That no matter where I roam this is home sweet home
Sing!
Here in my home
I’ll tell you what it’s all about
There’s just one hope here in my heart
One love undivided
That’s what it’s all about
Please won’t you fall in one by one by one with me?

TUN SIR, I CHOCKED AND SHED A TEAR OR TWO EVERYTIME I WATCH THIS GROUP OF YOUNG MALAYSIANS SING THEIR SONG. CAN YOU SPARE A DROP OF TEAR TOO?
SALAM TUN, YOU SURE HAVE A GOOD SIDE, DON'T YOU?....WE ALL HAVE SOME.
Mahathir just want to get rid of Abdullah by whatever means; he does not care raising racial sentiments and hatred damage racial harmony and goodwill amongst the races.
ReplyDeleteMahathir has just lost his last bit of dignity and credibility.
TAN, sorry........ think your opinion suck!!! you are no where near to put remarks as such. uneducated
ReplyDeleteAnd to think that he is our premier for 22 years!
ReplyDeleteThis old Tun M is being cornered with the lingamgate and now he's trying his best to divert the attention to something that he is best at - racism. Pitting one Malaysian race against another.
A pathetic old man.
Abdullah is channeling all the country money out!
ReplyDeleteSo madir is trying to stop him from doing so.
Madir is fighting a lone battle now because nobody trust him!
Mahathir is a master strategist and does whatever he thinks necessary to achieve his single minded objectives, even uncannily marshallimg the resources to build the world's tallest twin towers ( hurray !) et al even and then send his trusted Deputy to jail on dubious charges WTF the World may think !
ReplyDeleteSo his present crusade is similarly laced with venom , so what if some Malaysians get poisoned. The same man who singlehandedly F-ed the IMF and now turning his arsenal albeit haggard and worn out on the elegantly silent cannot-perform-at-all lame duck.
Your appeal will fall on deaf ears definitely. The only way is to charge him fast together with the other 5 for judicial misconduct, and so to put him on the run.
Can the Duck do it thus endangering his own non-too secret family corruptible acts for the last 5 years ? The Malaysian Web of Deceit can only get dirtier from here.
HENRY L SAID
ReplyDeleteIT SEEMS THAT MAHATHIR IS A POOR LOOSER.HE HAS LOST HIS SENSE FOR A STABLE AND PEACEFUL GOVERNMENT AS WELL AS FOR A UNITED AND PEACEFULL MALAYSIAN.READING HIS REMARKS HE MADE ,CLEARY SHOWS HE DOESNT MIND UNREST IN THE COUNTRY FOR HIS OWN POLITICAL MILEAGE OR HIS AGENDA.
OUR RAYKAT ADVISE IS :IF TUN CANNOT UNITE PLEASE DONT DIVIDE.
WITH DUE RESPECT TO YOU TUN PLEASE LEAVE THE PRESENT GOVERNMENT TO CARRY OUT THEIR DUTIES AND STOP MAKING RACIAL AND SENSITIVE RMARKS FOR THE GOOD OF THE COUNTRY HE ONCE LOVED.
IF YOU STILL LOVE THE NATION WHICH YOU ONCE BUILD DONT DESTROY OR CRUMBLE IT TO SATISFY YOUR PERSONNEL AGENDA.DONT FORCE THE RAYKAT WHO ONCE HAVE SO MUCH RESPECT FOR YOUR LEADERSHIP BE THE ONE WHO WILL DESPISE YOU.OR RATHER WORSE THE GOVERNMENT WILL LET YOU EAT THE CAKE WHICH YOU HAVE MADE ie ISA cake.
Anyone else who said these words would have been arrested under ISA & Sedition Act.
ReplyDeleteHis speech in JB was similarly intended to stir up the natives in Kg Baru & the Malay heartland in Kelantan & Terengganu.
If he can't get 'MY Way' he's prepared to destroy everything!
This old man is very desperate.....
ReplyDeleteCannot get rid of the sleepy PM within UMNO, now using racial matters to achieve his aims.....
Blame yourself lah, old man. You created the system that make the president of UMNO become untouchable, and now you complain...
Do not destroy the nation just to satified your ego.....
The dreams die
ReplyDeleteWhen you forget the light
In it you know it better
When you lose it
You make another one
Dawn of beautiful rays
Radiant full of hope and desire unfold
Dreams of the mind
It will take time to bear fruit
The perseverance of pursuing dreams
Nobody can help; you sink or swim with it
When you wake up every morning
You see the lighted dawn
Telling you there is another chance
To catch your dreams
Bearing in mind
Dreams to make you feeling good
The adrenalin pounding hard
You get up eager to do battle one more try
When the day is passing over
You feel tired chasing dreams die
You wonder what it will be
Dreaming it all falling down
It is the beauty of it
Dreaming about the stars
You need only one star to make it bright
So dreaming will make the day
Soothingly comforting when all else fails
Bernard, I like this posting but think its like selling ice to an eskimo. The man's just aint buyin'.

Thanks Zorro for the songs and the words you selected - very appropriate and moving. Nice to know there are so many true and caring Malaysians like you around.
ReplyDeletePray for Tun that he may insaf and repent of his many sins in the remaining days of his life. May your posting of the prayer of Francis of Asisi touch him deeply to bring healing to the hurts he must have suffered in his childhood that turned him into such a wretched man. To add a line to the prayer: where there is sickness, healing.
Ethnic Unrest !!!???
ReplyDeleteOooop……sorry ! I see it, this is what our CheDet want us to be. Like old saying ,said that ” A beam can never be straight, if the upper part is not level. How u want the lower part to be level ??!!

ReplyDeleteWhen you can't build, you destroy
ReplyDeleteWhen you can't love, you hate
When you can't have it, you make sure others can't as well.
In short, you just want it your way or its no way.
Enough lah Tun. Best you think more of God in your twilight years. And see what else you can contribute with a good heart.

He is on destruction-mode, firstly, to destroy AAB's position, and secondly, to use whatever means legal or "illegal" (read, "seditious"; Hmmm, you just wonder if he respect the very laws Sedition Act which he used against his opponents when in power).
ReplyDeleteTalking about "extremists" making unfair demands, what actions did he take when his "favourite pm candidate" hurled the threat to bathe the kris in Chinese blood at the TPCA stadium many years ago?
Instead, Ops Lalang was used to locked up his opponents under ISA. Or is he wanting the same treatment under ISA now?

I disagree with you Zorro. Yes, there may be inequality, corruption, etc, etc during the Tun's era, we must admit that he had done an excellent job moving Malaysia forward by managing and leading. I don't see any from Bodohwi thus will support anyone and everyone who insist that Bodohwi to step down.
ReplyDeleteAnd on a separate note, looking at the number of people who went to the Chedet blog, Tun may have the million hits soon.
Msiafearnoevil
Dear Zorro,
ReplyDeleteIf you guys think Mahathir is talking nonsense or just spilling out personal vengeance, then you better open your eyes wider.
Talk to any grassroot UMNO member who is not supporting PakLah and you can sense how much anger there is.And mind you, there are lots and lots of them.
The reality is , racial harmony in Malaysia is still very much a thin superficial floss.The so called urban, educated middle class like you and me may not be feeling it for being used to having our teh tarik or coffee together. But try go to Kg Medan, Selayang or Jinjang and Salak South and see how much intergration there are among the youth there.And we are not talking about outstation states like Trengganu Kelantan Perak and Penag yet.
Zorro
ReplyDeleteI love that video too. Being overseas makes it even more meaningful for me.
Dr M has certainly overstepped the line here. He's playing the racial card now, even after being at the helm for 22 years trying to get rid of this card.
I believe that it's his anger and exasperation at being unable to get Pak Lah to step down that is getting to his head a bit.
Let's hope he sees the love. Soon.
Anon9:43/9:44. I did not make any comments about the goings on in UMNO and the grassroots supposedly disenchantment with Pak Lah. I only object to Tuns warning about possible racial missteps. It is people like you and I that should promote integration. Of all persons, it should not be Tun using this as a way to bring down Pak Lah. I am very aware what he did to put us on the global scene, but what he is espousing today is not expected of a great statesman. In stead of building he is using the wrecking ball....in one swing bringing down 22 years of his work.He has better things to do. I expect that much from a once-revered leader.
ReplyDeleteI see no relevance in an impending 1 million hits on Tun's blog.I am glad he is blogging because he sees the relevance of blogging now that he complains of being shunned by the MSM that he once controlled.
Let's seek the moderate path in our quest for a better Malaysia. I am sure we all want a better Malaysia for our kids and their kids. If Tun wants PM down, the mechanism available in UMNO and BN is there for all to see. Peace, my brothers.Thats all I pray for. PEACE IN THIS BEAUTIFUL COUNTRY.
Mahathir's hatred for AAB started since 2005 after AAB won big for UMNO and BN.
ReplyDeleteHe probabaly couldnt take it that his successor won a mandate he never was able to obtain by the masses.
AAB made it worse for him by discontinuing some of the pet projects of Mahathir.
Towards the 12th GE Mahathir started making statements like " you get the Government you deserve " and on the eve of the GE he gave an interview in Malaysiakini and Tamil newspapers where he said Samy Vellu did not do ANYTHING for the Indians when he was Prime Minister.
Mahathir is just using the results of the 12th GE to get AAB out. Its just an excuse for him to get AAB out when he wanted AAB out as early as 2005.
Mahathir is willing to destroy and shame Malaysia and UMNO in order to get whatever he wants.
He is a selfish man who thinks only of himself and of his own survival.
He has proven Darwin's theory true - SURVIVAL OF THE FITTEST !
REFLECTIONS... by anonymous
ReplyDeleteI chanced to pass a window
While walking through a mall
With nothing much upon my mind,
Quite blank as I recall.
I noticed in that window
A cranky-faced old man,
And why he looked so cranky
I didn't understand.
Just why he looked at ME that way
Was more than I could see
Until I came to realize
That cranky man was ME!

When at 84 you're getting (to quote zorro)... bitter, grouchy, despicable, recalcitrant.
ReplyDeleteTHE AGING PENIS - dedicated to... mahathir bin mohamad
My nookie days are over;
My pilot light is out.
What used to be my sex appeal;
Is now my water spout.
Time was when of its own accord;
From my trousers it would spring.
But now I have a full time job;
To find the blasted thing.
It used to be embarrassing;
The way it would behave.
For every single morning;
It would stand and watch me shave.
As old age approaches;
It sure gives me the blues.
To see it hang its withered head;
And watch me tie my shoes.

Look’s like Mahathir’s plan to play Pipe Piper to get Umno members to leave Umno en masse has backfired! This old fool should have realized that loyalty is not the middle name of Umno/ BN politicians. It is the culture of ‘ball carrying’ in this country that has put politicians in power for a very long time. Even Little Napoleons in the civil service derive their power from their ‘ball carrying’ subordinates. The reason for this ball carrying culture is very simple. You see, as long as you are in the good books of your boss, and as long as he is in power, you’ve got sunshine to make hay.
ReplyDeleteThe moment your Boss is not in power, your allegiance will be towards his or her successor. Why you think Samy Vellu, Ong Ka Ting, and Lim Keng Yaik held power for so long. They had a lot of ass kissers and ‘ball carriers’ kissing and carrying their balls all the time. Now you see why poor Mamak Mahathir is up the creek without a paddle. Even his slime ball son Mukhriz is not dancing to his tune. Just wait when Badawi steps down, people like Zahid Hamidi, Rafidah Aziz, Nazri Aziz, Zainuddin ‘Mamak’ Maidin, Mohideen Yassin, and Tajol Rosli etc. will be literally spitting on poor old Pak Why MeLah and blaming him for everything that has gone wrong with this country and Umno/BN.
Right now, everyone including his Cabinet, Umno/BN members, the MSM is singing praises to Badawi. That is why this idiot doesn’t seem to realize how things are screwed up now in this country. This poor excuse for a PM doesn’t even realize how he screwing up the country himself. With his SIL and 4th Floor boys pulling the strings, things can only get worse. Only when the floor gives way will this fool wake up from his slumber. By then, it will be too late.
This is after all part and parcel of UMNO/BN culture, The conclusion I can come to is that, every single Umno/BN member is nothing more than a leech, parasite and scum that has not got an ounce dignity to their name. All they are interested in is to get favors, get scholarships for their children and get their bank accounts fatter
Zorro,
ReplyDeleteI am all for peace and that is not what the Tun is doing. He is a selfish old man who having found that he cannot get his way now wants to destroy the country in ever which way he can. It is people like us who can pray for peace. The politicians on both sides of the divide do not seem to really care. Even some of (reputed?)bloggers who started as moderates are now taking his side. Oh Lord please help/
It started with... "I Have A Dream" Martin Luther King, Jr. of his desire for a future where blacks and whites among others would coexist harmoniously as equals in the US of America.
ReplyDeleteSince, King's delivery of the speech on August 28, 1963 ( less than 45 years ) the American is ready to embrace a black as their president...
But here, after 50 years of independent, we still have freaking leaders with a penchant for the people to stay divided... 1st class facilities but a** class mentality.

In JB, TDM clearly concurred with the laughable assertion that non-Malays're holding the government ( read UMNO Malays ) ransom by exercising their rights at the GE12ballot box. What a let down from a politician of his standing! Dragging in the non-Malays in his fight against Pak Lah is the most spiteful and dangerous tactic and yet he doesn't give it a shit. To him, the end always justifies the means. Old man, show your mettle and slug it out with Pak Lah as a true fighter and not as a lowgrade demagogue.
ReplyDeleteThat is one heck of good article! To heck with the others who dont agree. Come on people, firstly PLAY THAT HERE IN MY HOME SONG and get something out of it. Now is not the time to scatter more hate to an already fragile political situation in Malaysia. The most we can do is be rational and try to look at things with an open heart and mind and not blindly follow or accept stories or things that is useless in the development of the nation. Like those things Tun M said, it is indeed time for you to retire for good, please. I still want to have as much respect for you Tun, but not when you're saying things like that.
ReplyDeleteWhy is that whenever I read all the blogs, all the MSM, i get the feling that somehow our AAB is a way is connected with Singapore? With all the Temasik issues, the just concluded PBPutih issue, the South Corridor, et cetera et cetera. And somehow the AAB and DSAI is connected at some point. I wonder. Hmm..by the way, a very interesting video clip by Malaysian Artist.Bravo!
ReplyDeleteZorro,
ReplyDeleteTime for you to request Anwar to do the right thing if Anwar really want to be the PM-in-waiting.
Anwar is not a saint, just like Tun Mahathir.
Read here:
Should Anwar apologise?
Ong Kian Ming and Oon Yeoh | May 26, 08 3:38pm
http://www.malaysiakini.com/news/83428
"The question of whether Anwar should admit and apologise for certain mistakes or wrongdoings is all the more relevant now that there is a serious possibility he might become the next prime minister if his Pakatan Rakyat coalition takes over power.
Anwar is no angel nor is he a saint. During his time in the upper echelons of the Umno leadership, and especially as deputy prime minister, he was guilty of doing many of the things he now criticises."
Zorro, is the above a fair request so that you can be a credible blogger as well or unless you believe Anwar is really a saint?
Please old man, use what has been given you to sow good, don’t destroy the nation.
ReplyDeleteFrom our elders we can rely to receive gems of advices gleaned from their years and years experiences. These experiences are normally filled with wisdom which the younger generations can use as their living-guide. They definitely would not be words which teach hatred, division and chaos. They would more likely be words that encourage unity, love, harmony and peace.
How sad we have in our midst, an old man sowing discord and disunity,yet has the cheek to say he is doing what he is doing for the good of the nation.
