Hi zorro,

Lim GE just announced the implimentation of local council election for Penang!

March 11, 2008 1:35 PM

Chin Huat, Haris.....looks like Lim Guan Eng has taken the initiative instead of waiting for us. Syabas Guan Eng.

Malaysiakini confirms this in its report on Guan Eng's swearing -in ceremony:

Lim said that among the first thing that his administration would do is to enact a Freedom of Information Act and seek all public office bearers to publicly declare their personal assets.

He has also said that the government will look at restoring local council elections and will hold open tenders for all government procurement and contracts.

In one of his first acts as the new chief minister, Lim has waived all summonses issued by the local councils against hawkers and parking offenders.

  1. Syabas Guan Eng!

Now, this is what we call a caring State Government!!!

Looks like the Pakatan Pembangkang in the BN can start to learn a thing or two as to how best to run a state government that is by the people and for the people?

Mahaguru58 salutes the Penang State Government of our new Chief Minister who has really exercised his power!!!

Damn! I am so proud of the Barisan Rakyat!

Do you Lim Guan Eng be awarded Datukship for being the CM?

For me, no datukship title for any serving politician until they have done their services and retire honourably. Those already have let it be but those don't have don't clamour for it. Just stay your name with a Mr or Miss/Madam for your title.

This include those in Selangor, Perak and hopefully those in Kedah.

  4. Zainal, I share your elation!

Moses: Spot on! Titles are given after performance beyond the call of duty....never before. It is common knowledge that those who want this cheap adulation can now pay by installmentfor honorifics....even Lingam got somebody the Tan Sri thing. No?
Guan eng should reject such honorific and be forever known as the only chief of State who does not bear that datuk thing. The country has cheapened a once-revered honorific. And the opposition victors are telling us not to call them Yang Berhomat but rather Yang Berhikmat. YES!

Kaki ayam....true, true....I used to throw away my MBPJ parking summons.

  5. Congrats to Guan Eng. "Waive summons against hawkers and parking offenders" Thats a good PR exercise. No one pay those summons anyway so might as well waive them. Or else, tomorrow there will be long queue in front of the Chief Minister's office by hawkers and traffic offenders appealling for waiver.
All the best to new state govt in Penang.

  6. Well said.

Even the President of the United States is addressed as MISTER President.

Be gone all those pompous and vain glorious money-bought titles...

May the God of heaven give wisdom to the new state government of Penang.

Pr 14:34 "Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people."

  7. I say, slow down lah. You still have 5 years to go.

Don't make hasty decisions alone even if you have the power to do so.

Form your Exco first, have a meeting, discuss and think things over carefully.

No populist announcements or decisions. You are not a dictator. You talk of transparency, accountability and integrity. Show it.

Will you give amnesty then to all criminals who committed their crimes before 8th March?

    Lead a responsible government.

Don't end up like the previous guys.

    I am watching you.

    Adios.
