The 10 opposition Members of Parliament (namely Bandar Tun Razak, Batu, Cheras, Wangsa Maju, Kepong, Titiwangsa, Lembah Pantai, Bukit Bintang, Segambut and Seputeh) met last night (
1. 1.We the10 opposition Members of Parliament in Kuala Lumpur, note that two months prior to the 12th General Elections (GE) DBKL was very relax in taking actions against the hawkers, petty traders, DBKL tenants and others.
2 2. We also note that immediately after the completion of the 12th GE, resulting in the clear rejection of BN by the KL residents, DBKL swung into actions to victimize and/or punish the hawkers, petty traders and threaten to victimize and/or punish the DBKL tenants in the opposition held constituencies, for the miserable performance of BN in the GE.
3. We strongly condemn DBKL for involving itself in politics and taking such concerted actions to victimize and/or punish the hawkers, petty traders and DBKL tenants for exercising their democratic rights in the 12th GE to elect the 10 opposition MPs from PKR,
4. We call upon the Datuk Bandar Kuala Lumpur to immediately stop the political actions in victimizing and/or punishing the hawkers, petty traders and DBKL tenants for exercising their democratic to elect the MPs of their choice.

'If you share a good idea long enough, it will eventually fall on good people.
Leadership is the challenge to be something more than average.
Leaders, whether in the family, in business, in government, or in education, must not allow themselves to mistake intentions for accomplishments.
Leaders must learn to discipline their disappointments. It is not what happens to us, it is what we choose to do about what happens that makes the difference in how our lives turn out.
Learn to help people with more than just their jobs; help them with their lives.
In leadership we teach: Don't send your ducks to eagle school because it won't help'.WILL PM BE PRESSURED TO RESIGN AT SUPREME COUNCIL MEETING TAKING PLACE IN UMNO HQ NOW?
Mydeen wonders, are those hawkers and traders being summoned because they broke the law ? If so, they SHOULD be summoned, whoever won in the elections.
ReplyDeleteAre the MPs saying that it's ok to break the law to support DAP-PKR-PAS ?
Is that the message you're carrying ?
mydeen,
ReplyDeleteAre you aware of something called selective enforcement? Select when, where, who, what to enforce? It is a prevalent but unwritten policy practiced by DBKL officers when carrying out their duties. They can be arbitrarily strict or lax, depending on their instructions or on whether they have been buttered up by the petty traders.
Hi Siber Pal, those 10 MPs will not do a press release if they have no evidence to the contrary. They can't spell out everything can they. Why dont you hop over (not like a katak of course)to Wee's blog and pose this question. He would be in a better position to give you a straight answer. Were you not at NPC last Friday?
ReplyDeleteAs the great saintly leader Mahatma Gandhi once so eloquently said, "We must become the change we want to see", it is most encouraging to see the MPs' consolidate, coordinate and work as a team in bringing about refreshing change.
ReplyDeleteThe 10 MPs should now petition the King to appoint a Mayor for Kuala Lumpur that reflects the support of the people in the City. Isn't this what the FT Minister is basically saying since he has come out formally to say that the appointment is by his Majesty? Like the MBs of various states who are appointed by the various sultans because he can command the support of the assembly men??Surely one of the 11 YBs elected by the people can enjoy the support of his peers?
ReplyDeleteZorro,
ReplyDeleteIf they have evidence of DBKL doing their job and enforcing summons, they should publish it. Sheesh, that sounds convoluted, but the 10 MPs are trying to say that people shouldnt be summonned.
And no, in as much as Mydeen would like to mooch cheap beers at Kelab Tekan Nasional, Mydeen wasn't at yours, Shanghai's and Rocky's favourite watering hole. Mydeen prefers Chackravatty better.
Mydeen....beer is never cheap...some choose to pay more for the same beer thats all. Paying more for a beer doesn't change the flavour of the beer....and neither does it change the status of the drinker. Gotcha.
