HE SAID IT YESTERDAY: HE DID JUST THAT TODAY.

In an interfiew with the Sunday Times, Zaid Ibrahim, who is chairman of the biggest legal firm in Malaysia and philanthropist whose Kelantan Foundation for the disabled serves 2,400 people suffering from Dpwn Syndrome, cerebral palsy and other disabilities, said that he would step down as Chairman of Zaid Ibrahim & Co. He did just that this morning.

Here is a man rejected by his party for having a mind of his own and now appointed into the Cabinet to do some necessary housekeeping, judiciary wise. "I am here not to keep my job. I am here to do a job." This is leadership by example. We just hope that when the PM asks for the declaration of assets, the honest will do the honest thing. Word has it that the lines to swiss banks are a-buzzing and many things are changing hands.....proxy wise......and even migration here.

ASIDE: I thanked Hantu for this piece and this was the reply: we live in interesting times darling, and u bloggers helped make it that way.

  1. If you trust Zaid then you got to be mad ok. He is dying to be a minsiter and he is now. So he has done his job. That's why his first statement was to talk about Anti-Hoping Act instead of how to clean up the corrupted judiciary.

I do not trust him anyway. God bless you Zorro. I am certain that you will soon be a disappointed man.

  2. Thanks Anon: I take this stand on the premise: better him than Muhamad son of Muhamad and loudmouth Nazri. Thanks for the warning, but I will let him do his job first.

  3. Zorro,

I am not as big a sceptic as Anon 6.54. However, i have to admit that after 8 March, UMNO needed Zaid more than Zaid needed UMNO.

O.k he goes for his favourite subject matter. Any lawyer worth his salt feels for Salleh Abbas and the injustice done to him. He gets accolades all around for this. Who knows, on the their first sitting of parliament this might just come to pass with unanimous support for this. Just imagine 82 opposition members together with 140 BN MPs voting together. Who loses? Mahathir.

Party hoppers! Well, so far it is the opposition that has lost our with Party hoppers. This was never a problem for BN until now that they are in danger of imploding if 30 cross over.

Zaid did have since he got into parliament in 2004 to bring the apology subject matter up. He failed to. Why? Why is it now so expedient to do so? Can't it wait another year? It would seem like Zaid is willing to be used right now so taht his personal agenda about setting right injustice done to Salleh Abbas which coinsides with most of us anyway, and at least for the next few short months UMNO's.

will umno let him do his job..or does he has to toe party line..and if he uncovers shit..does he reports to AAB..and the reports goes missing under AAB...or can he his own conscience. Good as he may be..UMNO will not let him be. Zaid will be a disullisioned man soon.

  7. Old Fart: Zaid is a practical man, from the brief association and from his writings "in Good Faith". when did the Judiciary slide into infamy? At the demeaning of Tun Salleh Abbas, of course. So in his capacity now what better than to address this.
and Old fart where were you on saturday night? i went to all the rooms in Blog House, you were not around!

Art Chan: What party line? zaid was rejected by UMNO for the GE. He did not beg for the job! Somebody, definitely not the 4th floor boys, woke up the PM to this reality that changes must be made and it can be reflected in his Cabinet. He brought in Zaid but messed up with the inclusion of Muhamad son of Muhamad and the loudmouth. But that is Pak Lah for you. Zaid does not have to apply any formula to uncover the shit. It has already hit the fan. Umno will not let him be?...UMNO did not put him where he is. He accepted on conditions. We will see if he will be a disillusioned man soon. Keep the faith Art. Cheers buddy.

  8. zorro..

I also think the same as you do about Zaid. He was vocal in UMNO (in the right way) not like some of the mad dogs like tunnel vision MP, racist taxi minister etc. In the end he was "forced" out becos he is not one of them.

What AAB do to bring him in is damage control, and I doubt it is AAB's idea. When the heat is up..will UMNO let him do his job? UMNO is infested to the core with woodworms and Zaid will find it difficult.

I will try to keep the faith..Shalom

  9. Last time people say,
"never judge a book by its cover"

Now people has imprpved and smarter, they say,

"never judge people by what he writes, but judge him by the action he takes

But general principle is still "Never Trust Politician"

  10. One down for Zaid, less than 5 days after appointment

    http://www.malaysia-today.net/2008/content/view/4933/1/

I like this comment "Zaid sometimes tell the truth, sometime half truth and sometimes no truth at all. It depend on which platform he is speaking on behalf."

  11. Zorro,

What was on on Saturday night? Anyway, my sis was buying diner....fancy stuff la..Shang and all....cannot say no to that, can I!

As for Zaid, I don't doubt his sincerity. However, the silver lining in this effort is not there, because if this is achieved now its achieved only because UMNO is down and almost out. Zaid might just be able to achieve it. Its like getting the sweet from this guy who wouldn't part with it until you've got him good and laid him down on the ground. But then again coming from Sentul where the stolen jambu always tasted sweeter, I guess that sweet too might taste sweeter after all that work.

  12. Zaid is in the AAB cabinet for window dressing only...His first genuine idea..they have shot down his apology proposal..the UMNO led govt is still in denial.

Zaid if you are reading this...UMNO is not for you. Your views were never respected in UMNO..and hence you were dumped. UMNO is playing with you. Good luck

    =====================

bagai aur di tarik songsang..that is zaid...playing to the gallery.

Now that his proposal is hot down..he can play hero that he proposed..but they did not take his idea.

Such a learned man like him..and being in UMNO for so long will endear him to the fact that UMNO leadership will not tolerate dissenting views.
