ZORRO'S FERVENT PLEA AND HOPE.

In Solidarity with Bersih this post is to promote the 10 November initiative. As the Bersih website has been hacked, this is my little contribution. I hope it helps. I have read the draft petition and since it has been embargoed to 10 November, it cannot be reproduced.
There are already threats circulating that the authorities will not sit back and stare. They mean to act against the march. They will do their utmost to muster all the resources they have have to PREVENT THE RAKYAT FROM SEEING THEIR KING.

CAN THEY DO THAT?

WILL THE KING ALLOW THE AUTHORITIES TO PREVENT HIS SUBJECTS FROM VISITING HIM?

CAN THE AUTHORITIES PREVENT THE PEOPLE TO PRESENT TO THEIR KING A LEGITIMATE APPEAL?

MY PERSONAL PLEA AND HOPE TO THE ORGANISERS.

MY PLEA:

DO NOT ALLOW POLITICAL PARTIES TO MAKE SPEECHES.

IF IT IS A PEACEFUL, SILENT GATHERING AT DATARAN MERDEKA BEFORE WE PROCEED TO THE PALACE THE AUTHORITIES CANNOT HAVE RECOURSE TO ANY UNTOWARD ACTION!

LET'S GATHER PEACEFULLY AT DATARAN MERDEKA AND SILENTLY MARCH TO THE PALACE.

MY HOPE:

BEFORE I VERBALISE MY HOPE I WANT TO ASK MY KING'S FOGIVENESS FOR WHAT I HAVE TO SAY.

MY HOPE IS THAT MY KING
WILL REACH OUT TO HIS PEOPLE,
COME TO THEM,
TO RECEIVE THEIR PETITION.

IF THIS HAPPENS, THERE WILL BE PEACE AND THIS DAY WILL FOREVER BE REMEMBERED.

DAULAT TUANKU, DAULAT TUANKU, DAULAT TUANKU.

  1. Zorro, you are absolutely right. No political speeches, no political parties to lead and no party flags. We must not allow BN to manipulate the situation.

You talked sense and I hope that the political parties don't play into the hands of BN "monkies".

Let all march on 10th November in big number - 100,000 or more.

  3. The rally and the march speak a thousand words (or a hundred thousand words). No politician - BN or Opposition - can articulate better than the masses of bodies, men and women, who will come in yellow and in peace to tell those up there that the people can bring them down. And the people will bring some of them down.

But we want these politicians to join in the walk. Wear yellow and link your arms with the rakyat biasa.

See you Saturday, 3pm. Till then, Happy Deepavali.
May the brightest of lights shine on you, Zorro and all readers here.

  4. Zorro,
    Agree totally with you.

Could you tell Bersih that if we walk IN FILE THREE OR FOUR ALONGSIDE, and some distance from each other, the people behind always watching out for those in front, walking in silence, we will hear agent provocateurs and their shouts and easily come to the aid of others.

We must walk in silence and on the pathway, not on the road. there must be order. There must be a call for silence, even start with prayers by different communties and then silence as we march for justice.

Say a prayer for us, my friend and brother.

  5. Splendid idea good old chap!

Imagine the how loud a gathering of 100,000 rakyat in silence, as if in mourning. It will send shivers to the very core of corruption and shake the pillars of greed and transgressions.

To hold this silence until the Agong receive the petition and bertitah to the rakyat, is indeed a great measure of discipline and resolve on the part of the responsible and courageous Malaysians. If this holds true, I salute you!

  6. Hear, hear Zorro.

And some of the citizens have echoed your articulate thoughts here rather eloquently.

If silence is golden, may the colour yellow of the day speak louder that words can.

It's time for noble deeds to be recognized rather than more political rhetorics from anybody for that matter.

  7. It is nauseating to read the comments of reactionary minded clowns who suddenly become overly excited to participate in BERSIH demo while carrying their subconscious fear of offending the authorities - such as calling people to have a silence protest, because they are afraid to shout at authorities; or demanding that political leaders not have the right to speak and address the people.

This is the mindset that we have been conditioned by the BN government for the last 50 years, where we start behaving like meek and quiet subjects of authoritarian regimes.

Political leaders have every right to speak, especially when they have been working everyday, mobilising members, leafleting the public, organising this event and most importantly, creating awareness about the rampant abuses of fraudulent practices in our electoral system. They are the ones mobilising security, marshalls, issuing statements, negotiating with the police, materials, etc.

In our culture of media censorship, Kit Siang, Anwar Ibrahim, Guan Eng, Mat Sabu, Tian Chua, Sivarasa Rasiah, Karpal Singh, Syed Husin Ali, Mahfuz Omar, and many more have been silenced. They are the ones who have been victimised, arrested, tortured, imprisoned for having the courage to stand up and speak truth to power.

We have been silent for too long. Godammit, it is our time to speak out.

Sorry to disappoint you guys. The facts are that:-

1)There will be political speeches, by political & NGO leaders

2)The gathering will led by leaders of BERSIH; comprising of 70 NGOs and 5 political parties.

3)The gathering IS A POLITICAL EVENT & A POLITICAL MOBILISATION

4)The reason why these people formed BERSIH is because we are not happy with the way UMNO & BN jokers run the country, thus we want CHANGE within our constitutional framework by allowing the OPPOSITION to have a FAIR CHANCE in the coming election, so that we, the PEOPLE, can have a chance to fairly elect the leaders the country deserves to power.

THis is not a funfair event, with joyrides and cotton-candy floss.

Those who will be in Dataran Merdeka on Saturday, will risk body and liberty to ensure that the electoral system is free and fair.

    They are ready for change.

    The question is:- are you?

  8. Simpang Kiri. You said: They are ready for change.

    The question is:- are you?

First. I apologise for my nauseating cowardice for appealing for a silent protest. However, if loud, vocal protest and confrontational protests have not worked in the past, how about changing mindsets here for a change?

Brother, I am an ANGRY 67 years old and no wiser even after having written about change, after joining groups that advocated change. I have seen the insides of a lock-up as a unionist. I went thru May 13 and still bear a small scar protecting my malay chegu friend. When nothing seems to work I resorted to blogging hoping that I could reach out to people more effectively. I have always preached this: IF YOU DO NOT WANT TO CHANGE, STEP ASIDE FOR THOSE WHO WANT CHANGE....DON'T STAND IN THEIR WAY....STEP ASIDE (which is another way of support). Lets rationally think out ways to effect change. Remonstrations, demonstrations, rantings, sloganeering can work but it has its limitations. I was just turning 8 on Oct20 1947, when the country came to a stand-still. The SILENCE was so defeaning that even Whitehall, oceans away, and sat up and listened.

I walked with the lawyers and stood in the rain with them. However I will not be able to join you in Dataran Merdeka, because I have to fulfill a family obligation in Penang. I will wear yellow in solidarity with you brave people. My friends understand my absence, whilst others may say my tail is between my legs. What others think is of no consequence. What people who believe in me thinks matters. I have supported Bersih in all their efforts. Together with Haris Ibrahim, Rocky, SK Thew and Tony Yew, we went to question the Perak Election Comm.Dept about the extra 8000 new voters in Ipoh Timur. Simapng Kiri, there are many other ways to skin the cat. I happen to choose a different way...reference to MY PLEA AND MY HOPE. Just imagine the impact if that happens in front of brave Malaysians. I just hope it is not an old man's dream. I leave now but believe me, like you all I WANT AND SUPPORT CHANGE. THE TIME IS NOW. God Bless you all.

  10. Dear Fellow Malaysian,

Do not follow them, TALK, TALK AND TALK Only but No Action.

The Lawyers had done their part to push for a clean and efficient judiciary.

Now we must do our part to clean the EC.

Many had posted in blogs all around venting your frustration, cursing these and cursing that.

Now we must show that we can walk as well as talk.

Join me and BERSIH on the 10th November 2007 for the peaceful walk and enjoy the the beauty around Dataran Merdeka and at the same time let the Barang Naik Party knows that we are not happy with the way they run our country.

I am from Penang and my computer will be shut down after this posting to start my journey to Dataran Merdeka.

FEAR NOT MY FELLOW MALAYSIAN. COME OUT IN FULL FORCE IF YOU LOVE YOUR COUNTRY AND AGONG.

We cannot just let a few brave ones to fight for us, we must support them.

  13. you people just played to the hands of the opposition parties. who do these 40K or so demonstrators think they are representing? who? all us rakyat?? sorry to break yr bubble, but that day, you were pawns of the opposition.
sure the opposition claims that BERSIH consists of 60 plus Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) and a small "insignificant" number of 5 Opposition political parties, making this a "non political " rally. i hear that all the time from those in favour of the rally.

that statement is nothing more than political tactic made up by the opposition, a cunning and manipulative one. the obvious outcome of such rally is more ppl voting for the opposition. and you all would hv just played into their hands.
they hype the crowd with feel good statements, use the king (who was horse riding in trengganu tht day) to raise the emotions of these pawns , instructed their members (the bulk of protesters) to not waive party flags to reinforce their claim tht this is a rakyat rally not a political one, repeatedly harp on all the bad things BN has done ( which they have - yes im not a BN supporter) , with the extensive news coverage from tv3 to al jazeera, the opposition hit a home run this time. great publicity , and hopefully more angered voters and fence sitters voting for them.

yea yea , i hear u ..of 60 plus non govt org only "insignificant" 5 opposition political parties, or in percentage terms, 7% of bersih is opposition parties.

ok so tell me , so tell me why is it that 5 out of 7 delegation that went to to hand the memorandum to the King were leaders of opposition political parties?

sorry to break yr bubble, im a rakyat. u did nothing for me except made a 1/2 hr journey turn into a 3 hr journey thanks to traffic and roadblocks. enough of your 'we did it for malaysia' and yr 'daulat tuanku'..you guys didnt gv an ass abt the tuanku when they were beaten to the ground by DrM. and u didnt do it for malaysia, you did it for the 5 ppl out of 7 that went to see the king... who was in trengganu horse riding.

  14. Realist, you smell like a cyber trooper rat. I let you in so that others can experience how a guy can prostitute himself for a few dollars. So what if the opposition passed the intended memorandum to the palace....at least it was given. What bubble burst....the only one bubble that burst was that empty bubble in your cranium box. Carry one selling your soul to the highest bidder. You can change your nick, but the smell is still the same. Come visit again and I will smell you out. Go collect your dues.
