THE CON GAME BEGINS!

Malaysiakini reported the first-ever monitoring by Transparency International MALAYSIA:

The ruling Barisan Nasional coalition has spent RM1 million in print media advertising in the first three days of the election campaign, said corruption watchdog Transparency International-Malaysia.

“In the first three days of the period under monitor - Feb 25 to 27 - BN was projected to have spent a cumulative total of RM1.049 million,” said TI president Ramon V Navaratnam.

“TI also urges the Election Commission to closely scrutinise the candidates' expenses report and be prepared to lodge police reports for any under-reporting found.”

The amount does not include TV advertisements in which TI conceded were where the “lion's share of election advertising monies are believed to go”

“TI urges all (political) parties to declare all their advertisement expenses and to require their candidates to report their respective share of such expenses,” said Ramon.

“TI also urges the Election Commission to closely scrutinise the candidates' expenses report and be prepared to lodge police reports for any under-reporting found”

CLICK ON PICS.

The game begins and after all these years the BN still think that they can hoodwink us. It is OK to go an a spinning spree if you have the money and the donors/sponsors, but accountability should play a role. Why feature the new alacrity of renewing a passport. This is election time and caring Malaysians usually dont travel during this time.

Why not a picture of the still missing Ninnie with an assuring caption: WHILST WE ARE SPINNING AND CONNING ( read: CAMPAIGNING) FOR YOUR VOTES OUR POLICE FORCE ARE STILL SEARCHING FOR NINNIE AND NURINE'S MURDERERS.

Free Education it seems! No school fees! Parents are up in arms because schools made a kill with extra fees. Some parents pay as much as RM300 per child. If you lip-read those kids (no they were not hired to pose unlike the two above) you might conclude that they are shouting: BLUFFFFFFF!

IT HAS BEEN CONFIRMED A FEW MINUTES AGO.
A CONVOY OF CARS WILL LEAVE BLOGHOUSE AT 1700HRS, 28 FEBRUARY.
DESTINATION: REMBAU
BLOGGERS WILL STAND BESIDE CHEGUBARD DURING HIS CEREMAH TONIGHT

HIDUP CHEGUBARD
NO FEAR!
HE MAY BE SIL, BUT HE IS STILL HUMAN!

HIDUP BARISAN RAKYAT

LET'S BE REAL!

In my Sunday 24 February I registered my, Saiful's, Tan's and Gregory's disappointment on the appointment of Gwo-Burne as potential MP of Kelana Jaya. The majority of blog readers have also voiced their consternation. PKR have not come out with any statement on this choice and we are not privy to the "big picture". We have 10 precious days more. I have talked myself hoarse on this topic.
BUT LETS GET REAL!
WHAT DO WE WANT?
ISN'T IT TO DEPRIVE BN OF THE 2/3 MAJORITY?

PKR was amongst the first, if not the first, to endorse the People's Declaration. That's good enough for me. PKR supports BARISAN RAKYAT. We owe them that much and we need to vote their candidate in. Let's cross that bridge first. Once crossed, BARISAN RAKYAT will embark on some remedial posturings, you bet we will and Gwo-Burne had better be ready to answer a few questions that will be good for his soul.

IF WE ARE TRUE TO THE SPIRIT OF BARISAN RAKYAT, WE HAVE TO GET HIM ACROSS THAT BRIDGE
NO MATTER WHAT,
AND NO MATTER HOW!
LET'S JUST DO IT!

MAKKAL SAKTI! MAKKAL SAKTI! MAKKAL SAKTI!

Samy: Indians can count on MIC

Well, that is what Samy says. But why repeat this and others so frequently these days? Three days ago he was quoted as saying that Indians need to be politically represented in the corridors of power.

Well Samy, fact is we have been for 50 years and see where we are today.

The Indian diaspora that went elsewhere are not politically represented. They have done well for themselves including in some countries like Fiji and some African countries, literally controlling the economy.

Samy, just leave the Indians alone. Abandon them. Let them rise up above themselves and fend for themselves. They will and they can. V.K. Lingam has shown us the way. Despite you and the MIC, by staying out of MIC, he, a Malaysian Indian ruled the Malaysian judiciary for over a decade.

This second is an open letter to soon-to-be-out Minister of Works:

Open letter to samy

Dear Dato' Sri,

Vanakam!

I hope this letter reaches you either in form or in message.
The purpose of me writing to you is to give you an advice from a Malaysian who spent a lot of time on the ground talking to people. Over the past month and past few functions you or your son attended, reports indicate that the crowd jeered and booed. If there is any strong signs of dislike this is probably the crudest way of saying goodbye.
Dato Seri, over the last 20 odd years your contributions to the Indian community is a lot. The problem is that people have short memory. It is easier to remember something bad than something good about a person. For this simple reason, all the good deeds that you have done are now being eaten up by hatred and anger. People seem to remember more about you helping yourself then the community. Some people say, that you are worth billions. I don't know and I reserve my judgment until I see concrete evidence to the fact.
This is rather sad. I believe if people were to sit down and think hard and find one good thing that you have done, they probably could find it. I for one remember you to bring a sense of order in the MIC. I remember MIC members use to throw chairs at meetings. Even the nation foremost cartoonist, drew a cartoon about this, some years ago. It is not easy to bring people of different believes to sit together and agree on common things. Nonetheless, through your strong arm tactics, you managed to do it. I suppose the need for unity was much more important that this means was considered necessary. Wherever I go, people keep saying that Samy has got a large group of gangsters under his pay roll. I don't know whether it is true or otherwise. I prefer to judge a person until I see the evidence. Right now there is no evidence to that effect. Some people would have used love and care to bring unity among people but this is probably an unsuitable method. I assume you must have
done a proper study to determine the best method to unite people.
Considering your role in this forthcoming 2008 General Election, the sentiment of the people in the recent past has not been felt or seen to be favourable. There seems to be a lot of anger being projected towards you. The time has come Dato Seri, to make a tough decision in life. You see the Indians command 7% of the votes in the country. Assuming 3.5% were to vote the other side, it would affect the performance of Barisan Nasional. So much so that it can cause UMNO or MCA to lose a stronghold. Well some people may argue that this might not happen but it is all about risk and the need to take it.
While you could probably win the Sg Siput seat, it is not guaranteed to be the same for others. In fact your winning can be translated into a loss for many others in the Barisan Nasional. You need to ask yourself a simple question i.e. is, if you are a party man? If you are indeed a party man, you will place the party higher than yourself. You would be willing to make sacrifices for the sake of the party.
I believe a wise move would be is, not to contest in the Polls due on
8th March 2008 and also decline nomination at the next MIC election. If you don't do that, you risk being blamed for the other BN component party losses because the Indian are obviously voting the opposition candidates. This is glaringly evident, in and through their expressions of their anger directed at you and not the other members of the Barisan Nasional component parties. If that were to happen, then you will lose face and people will remember Samy as the man who was kicked out of MIC rather than a man who united its members
So, Dato Seri Samy, I humbly request, on behalf of the BN members and that of the rest of the Malaysians that you DO NOT contest the next election. Do the right thing. As I said earlier, you can win your seat (by many means) but the same cannot be said about the other seats contested by the other BN component parties. The 7% Indians may just vote the other way.
I wish you all the best in any decision that you make. Thank you. (Nandri)

MADE IN MALAYSIA: GET RICH QUICK SCHEME.

SIX EASY STEPS TO MILLIONS

STEP 1:
Study the previous election scenario. Identify seats won uncontested. Get somebody to

back you with either 10k or 5k depending on how ambitious you are. Guarantee your
backer you will get him 10% of whatever millions you will easily inherit..

Possibilities: force a three-cornered fight. This way you may have two possibilities of
being bought off. Of course the highest bid secures.

STEP2: File nomination papers with no fanfare. The less visible you are the better. Your symbol
should preferably be a hand phone. Personally display and carry a poster of your symbol
with your cell phone number in BOLD Fonts. Wear a similar TShirt....with your cell-fone
number screaming out, front and back. If possible take a photograph with your rival(s)
so that his/her handlers will notice your cell phone number.

Possibilities: Contesting against a minister always raises the stake. Take your chance.

STEP3: Go home and wait for a call. If you are a card-carry member of an opposition party, you
need to also pack your bags because if you get an offer you have to disappear fast.

Possibilities: Quick plastic-surgery in Pakistan; if there are no takers and you owe your
Ah Loong 5k/10k best you head for Iraq and volunteer as suicide truck driver....72 not -yet-
deflowered maidens is an explosively orgasmic possibility worth exploiting.

STEP4: Wait for the bag man in pre-arranged rendezvous sans CTV.

Possibilities: Known courier services might be used.

STEP5: When the bag man arrives....get him/her to open the brief-case.....and bunker yourself with
explosive-proof last-dream pillows at least 100 feet from the bag man. Leave face
exposed (save on plastic-sugery)...If no explosion occurs, you da man, rich, rich, rich.

Possibilities: money could be forged....I have no advice for you here......you have just
been...............what's that word?

STEP6: If everything is above board go for a long vacation and don't make stupid statements like
"I am pulling out for the sake of my family and out of respect for our beloved
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi."

Possibilities: If part of the deal entails you to call a press-conference to make the above
prepared and scripted press statement, you have to fulfill that obligation. You are rich now
and can live like a shah but suggest that you invest some of that ill-gotten cash in courses
on "Peace-enhancing Sleep For Blackguards". Such courses are plentiful in Dafur.

DON'T BE A DUNGOO! (SWAHILI FOR STUPID.)

At this stage of my life I try as much as possible to steer away from stupidity and avoid it
like a plague stupid homo sapiens. I can take it when animals act stupid. But stupidity in men and women gets on my goat. I have a very high tolerance for things provocative, intimidating, even seditious,.... even malicious, but never stupidity! So what got on my goat? That Dr. Ayam (above).
This from Bernama:

KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 25 (Bernama) -- Barisan Nasional (BN) candidate for Bukit Bintang parliamentary seat, Datuk Dr Lee Chong Meng, has urged voters to give him a chance to show what the BN government could do to benefit them.

Damn....you got your chance when you were given BB against all rules by that now ousted CJ, whats his name? You became MP because that fairy...or whatever his name is, gave it to you without a by-election. I can take sluggishness, but not sloppiness that resulted in you losing to a used-car dealer who cannot string two sentences in English and Bahasa together to wake up those sleepy-head MPs and the chief honcho.

Damn, we gave the BN close to 50 years and we are still deeper into the pits. The BN government had fifty years and who are you to ask to give you a chance to show what the bN government could do to benefit the rakyat? What cockmamie drivel are you driving at. You lost to the dealer?

"I have been working hard in this constituency for 15 years trying to influence voters to switch their support to BN.

Well, that little finger with the extended nail (false, a BB Ah Moi manicurist product) didn't help you for fifteen years and you want another chance. My mother threatened me that if I could not complete a simple task in her kitchen she was willing to sell me at a loss, and here you are asking for another chance. Pack your bags and go examine more chickens.

"They already gave DAP 11 chances. I think it would be fair if they give BN a chance this time around," he said.

That is unaduterated chicken shit.

"With just 12 days of campaigning to go, I expect the votes to increase to 51 percent to enable me to wrest back the hot seat from the DAP," he said.

That is what will now be known as a cheap (chick) dream.

Dr Lee said he expected about 49 percent popular votes for now from a total of 61,051 voters.

Hello, Nostradamas was a hoax and he was on exotic grass everytime he made a prediction, if you must know. I know, but I can't tell you....it is a Barisan Rakyat preserve.

AN OPPORTUNITY LOST.

HANTU just landed....I could smell his wasabe breath. But he perched quite a distance away. He sensed that I was in a pissed state over Kelana Jaya. When he flaps his left wing, he was asking if I was in the mood to talk. I signaled him over. According to him this Gwo-Burne Loh fellow, fully decked in tie and long sleeves have been following Anwar around for some weeks and even sat on the stage, but never once did he speak. I smell something here.

Realising that I was in a more accommodative mood Hantu asked, "You want to know what Baginda's father whispered to him to get him so violently riled up in court." I stopped him there, "Let's focus on the GE.....your big revelation will have to wait till after the GE. Now, tell me why Dr Syed Husin did not offer himself for Kelana Jaya?" Always aware of my reaction if his answer was provocative he flew a distance away and said, "He doesn't want because he is tired."

Dang, dang, dang.....here was an opportunity when he could step aside after capturing Kelana Jaya and force a by-election for Anwar's inevitable come-back. No eye-contact, Hantu just flew off....he read me too well. Certainly a lost opportunity.Shit!

PKR WON'T LISTEN! WILL THEY IN THE FUTURE?

On Friday, February 22 I made this special plea:

ZORRO MAKES SPECIAL APPEAL TO

DR SYED HUSIN
DEPUTY PRESIDENT PKR
TO OFFER HIMSELF
AS A CANDIDATE IN
KELANA JAYA!
THE CHINESE AMATEUR FILM-MAKER
HAS NO BUSINESS
IN A MALAY MAJORITY COMMUNITY.

I RESIDED IN KELANA JAYA FOR 30 YEARS.
I THEREFORE CARE.

This morning I went back to my former constituency and spent close to 4 hours talking to former neighbors and friends in Kelana Jaya. NOT ONE, I REPEAT, NOT ONE OF THEM WAS HAPPY WITH PKR'S CHOICE. Safrul said that it was an insult to drop this unknown boy to play with the likes of Lee Hwa Beng. Tan was determined to vote Opposition, but when PKR candidate was announced he decided to make a protest vote. "I am so frustrated. I was determined to make my vote count this time. I was always a Barisan man.....but not this time.....and this thing has to happen?" Gregory Peters, an MIC supporter since the last three elections was not giving the vote to BN this time. "If PKR is not suicidal, then they are mad to give us this unknown!" Many expletives were hurled that cannot find print here, but you surely know the sad, sordid sentiment going around.
I had so much faith in PKR that I have even asked for the ceremah schedules of their candidates. For once, Barisan Rakyat can make it stick. But this one choice appalls me. Very little shocks me these days, but this choice stinks.

THIS BARISAN RAKYAT OLDSTER IS PISSED AT PKR,
BIG TIME!

BUT I WILL STILL ROOT FOR NURRUL, CHEGUBARD AND ALL THE PKR CANDIDATES, AS LONG AS THEY BELONG TO THE BARISAN RAKYAT FOLD.

ENTER THE THIRD & WELCOME.

THE TRIO HELMING MALAYSIAVOTES
l-r:jacqueline surin, danny lim, cindy tham

Ah, to be young again! I was once. Together with a French priest, (thru respect I do not wish to reveal his name, although he has passed on), former Johanian and former President of the Bar Council, the late Ronald Khoo Teng Swee (I know that he would be proud to have his name revealed) and humbly yours, toyed with the idea of an underground Catholic News media, to spice up the tiredly bland sermonising of the Malaysian Catholic News, predecessor to the current Herald. But the late Archbishop Tan Sri Vendargon got wind of this and summoned us to his office.

He was cordial but not so later on when he threatened me with excommunication because I drafted out the dispensation letter for the ex-priest and my mentor the former Father Larry Leguen of st. Jpseph's Church, Sentul.

OK back to 1968....he told us that the Government would never allow another Catholic paper. That was a fact. We impressed on him that the ecumenical council (vatican II) was over and Malaysian catholicism was moving at snail's pace. Changes were reshaping the face of Catholicism; a comprehensive revised liturgy was laboriously moving uphill; a stronger emphasis on ecumenism was watered-down and inter-faith dialogue was a distant possibility. Convinced that we could not clear the hurdle, we put temporary repose to that idea. When we came out of his office I told my two conspirators....."but we are supposed to be underground!" From thence, it literally went underground, buried, forgotten....just a faint memory.....that led to my brief sabbatical from the Catholic Church.

You see we did not have the Internet then. The gust of fresh air came when blogging was born and we now have Malaysiakini and Malaysia Today and thousands of bloggers out there, determined to tell it as it is.

FOR THIS AND NO OTHER REASON
I WELCOME

A BEAUTIFUL MORNING SPOILT IN THE AFTERNOON.

It was such a rewarding morning. I was amongst approximately 100 Malaysians who took time off on a Saturday to turn a new page/chapter in the history of this country. Today at 11.30am, THE PEOPLE'S DECLARATION was launched at BLOGHOUSE (the home of Barisan Rakyat Bloggers). What lent credence to this historical chapter was that all the Opposition Political Parties that mattered had sent their representatives and each vocally endorsed the Peoples Declaration in toto. They were maverick lawyer Wee Choo Keong (MDP), Ronnie Liu (DAP) Chegubard, Badrul Hisham Saharin (PKR) and Dr. Siti Mariah Mahmud (PAS). Read here the full report by Malaysiakini's Li Tsin.

The mood was electrifying when the politicians said their piece, the ambiance was uplifting and the fellowship that followed over lunch was exhilarating. It was going to be one of the best days of my life...........however, when I returned home and accessed my mail I got this message from a friend in Kota Baru....."Bernard, EC up to their dirty tricks....check Malaysiakini"

Malaysiakini posted this:
Election Commission (EC) announced on Thursday 21st Feb 2008 that all election candidates must pay stamp duty on their applications to contest. Election candidates particularly in northern states where Friday and Saturday are holidays, could be disqualified due to the fact that they only have Sunday morning to do that. But the problem is, government offices selling revenue stamps in the northern states will open at 8am on Sunday and yet the candidates have to submit the nomination form between 9.00am and 10am on the same day.

A very neat ‘dirty trick’ by EC? Is this part of the plan by the BN Government who had worked extra time to amend the constitution to extend the service of certain individual? What is the purpose of imposing such rules at the last minutes? Perhaps, nomination day tomorrow willl tell the story.

“I see this as a gimmick to make things difficult for opposition candidates,” said Mustaffa Ali, state election chief for the Islamic opposition party PAS.

Activists have accused electoral authorities of dirty tricks ahead of March 8 polls and are threatening to hold a mass rally in Kuala Lumpur in protest.

The Coalition for Clean and Fair Elections (Bersih) which last November gathered some 40,000 people in the capital to demand reforms, slammed last-minute changes to electoral rules ahead of nomination day tomorrow.

*****************************

Here's is a message to the Election Commission: When GE was announced a line was drawn. You government running dogs one one side and BARISAN RAKYAT on the other side of the line. BARISAN RAKYAT will not cross that line......thats a sacred pledge because crossing that line will be TRESPASSING.

BARISAN RAKYAT
WILL NOT ONLY TAKE TO THE STREETS
IN KUALA LUMPUR.
THEY WILL TAKE TO THE STREETS IN ANY TOWN
WHERE A BARISAN RAKYAT CANDIDATE IS DISQUALIFIED BECAUSE OF THIS LATEST DIRTY TRICK.

BOTH EX-MBs NOT NOMINATED. THEY FAILED THIS TEST PATHETICALLY.

BOTH wanted to be nominated, citing past "contributions" and "service" to the rakyat.

However, in the spirit of transparency, the UMNO Supreme Council and EC supremo, insisted that they undergo just segment 2 of the Assessment Centre. Segment 1 was merely
to fill in your personal particulars.

Segment 2 required the candidate to just get 4 out of 10 questions in keeping with
the low standards that has become standard in this country.

These are the 10 Questions:

A MALAYSIA TODAY INSPIRED POSTING.

In his posting today, Raja Petra Kamaruddin urges
"Let's Demonstrate Malaysian Solidarity."

At 3.00pm tomorrow -- Friday, 22 February 2008 -- BERSIH is organising a rally at Batu Burok in Kuala Terengganu

Wear yellow tomorrow. Make tomorrow a YELLOW FRIDAY.

And at 3.00pm tomorrow, come out from your homes and offices wearing yellow, stand on the street, and make your presence felt. Or you can get into your car, switch your headlights on, and drive around the block while honking your horn.

Whatever it may be, just show solidarity tomorrow, in particular at 3.00pm.

At 11.00am the following day -- Saturday, 23 February 2008 -- we shall be launching the PEOPLES' DECLARATION at the Blog House in Bukit Damansara in Kuala Lumpur.

The six political parties who have endorsed the declaration will be invited to attend together with civil society movements, NGOs, and members of the blogging community.

Those interested to witness this event are most welcome

(address: no: 66, Lorong Setiabistari 2).

On Wednesday, 27 February 2008, Blog House will be organising a MEET THE CANDIDATES session.

The time has not yet been confirmed but considering it is a working day it would probably be at 8.00pm. This election will see the most number of bloggers contesting, so Blog House would like to introduce all those who from the blogging community will be contesting the election.

Blog House is only focusing on the candidates from the blogging community, which may prove to be quite a number in the end. Never mind if they are Barisan Nasional candidates or opposition candidates. All will be invited and all are welcome. So, if you want to meet the candidates who are also bloggers then stay tuned for further announcements and keep your Wednesday night free.

Then, on Saturday, 1 March 2008 (1 week before Polling Day), we shall be organising a MEET BARISAN RAYKAT function.

The time and place have not been confirmed yet. In this function we shall give the members of BARISAN RAKYAT an opportunity to talk to the people and explain their policies and strategies in the event the opposition coalition forms the government, whether at Federal level or in one, two or three of the States. There will also be a question-and answer session for participants to ask the members of BARISAN RAKYAT anything that may be of concern to them. Stay tuned for more details

Many incidences of fraud have already been detected all over the country and this election may yet prove to be one of the dirtiest ever.

A team of lawyers is being set up to gather evidence of fraud/vote-buying and to file an injunction to stop the 8 March 2008 general election.

There is still one more year before an election needs to be called so the election should be postponed until the electoral roll can be cleaned up and the phantom voters flushed out

The team of lawyers is offering a reward of RM10,000 to anyone who can deliver evidence of fraud and/or vote-buying that leads to a conviction.

If the coming general election cannot be stopped and it still goes on as planned, the team of lawyers will then use all the evidence of fraud and or/vote buying to file election petitions immediately after the election to get the courts to declare that particular seat where the evidence has been procured as null and void.

So, keep your eyes open. Gather as much evidence as you can. Documents will be good but if you saw something but have no documents to support it then your testimony in a signed Statutory Declaration or Affidavit will do. We shall inform you later where to send your evidence or who to meet to get your Affidavits drafted and signed.

Yes, this election may end up the dirtiest ever in Malaysian history. But let us the rakyat show the powers-that-be that we shall no longer tolerate the rigging of our elections and the denial of our fundamental right to free and fair elections.

We refuse, any longer, to be robbed of our right to determine the government that will rule over us.
