SPEAKER TAN SRI RAMLI NGAH TALIB CALLED TO CHAMBERS.

It was a tussle between Minister in the Prime Minister's Department, Datuk Seri Nazri Abdul Aziz and the Speaker Tan Sri Ramli Ngah Talib. Both breasted....no, both nippled the tape together.But since the Speaker is a Tan Sri and also because being more senior, he has priority standing. Datuk Seri Nazri should bide his time because from the way he has been shouting Stupid, Stupid, Stupid....he is just asking for it. Be patient Datuk Seri. Continue to misbehave and you will get a free ride and easy passage into the chambers.

Why then the Speaker? He faulted big time in both sessions of Parliament. The first was when Opposition MP Ms Fong Po Kuan, maligned by two MP monkees, sought redress from him, he brushed her off with the omnipotent excuse that she should have brought it up that very day. This first time we forgave him on grounds that probably he is grudingly moving into senility. We expected that he becomes wiser after that. Then the other day , when possible candidate for the chambers, Datuk Seri Nazri turned abusive the good speaker was told to sanction him....he again came up with a gem! "This language is common, it happens all the time." Tan Sri, this happens because you allow it to happen. So if murder and rape is rampant in Malaysia, its OK by YOU because it is all happening all the time. It is then, no wonder our National Circus, off Jalan Parliament is infested with strange critters, when you have this type of Speaker as the Ring Master.

Members of Parliament are working on some Code of Conduct. Don't waste your time. It will be a dog and pony affair. Formulate it, but keep it until somebody is retired off. That way nobody foreign will label us bodoh again. It is getting into the national psyche already....you hear nothing but bodoh, bodoh, bodoh in the circus arena. Ring Master, after serving time in the Chambers, bring out the elephants. (Note: Duration of stay in chamber will depend on who is next nominated....so you get out faster if more of your gang act bodoh.

I AM VERY SAD AND INCREASINGLY DISILLUSIONED.

(Picture taken on Tuesday Night at Dataran Merdeka during the Candlelight Vigil)

On Tuesday 19June morning, Nurainah Samad, Rocky, Stephen and I was at the Jalan Duta Court Complex to lend support to Jeff Ooi in his ensuing tug-o-war with NST. At 10.45am we crossed Jalan Duta and had a cuppa at Tony G's cafe. By 12.15pm we were at Ruslani and Maria's for mee rebus. I always looked forward to Tuesday; besides meeting blogger-buddies I always enjoyed the company of the effervescent Ruslani. If you enjoy literary discourse and repartee, you have found a soul-mate in Ruslani. I did. Of course I enjoy Maria's mee rebus, but I love her more for what she is, the still attractive, (physically and mentally) grandma who opens her house to ravenous bloggers hungry for her mee rebus and weekly interaction. This afternoon amongst other topics, The Satanic Verses crept into the conversation. Then someone said to another someone: If you insult my religion I will kill you. That jolted me. I didnt expect this outburst. I wanted to leave but it would be impolite, so I drifted to the dining table to chat up two new lady-bloggers, Norfalezah Arshad of cerita ibu and Wan Shana, who made their maiden visit to Maria's. I am usually the last to leave, but I was still disturbed and shortly later, I took my leave. Back at the condo, I got into my swim togs and did twenty laps to cool myself. I was still hot and bothered over what transpired. As the pipe-smoke swirled with a light breeze I went back to May 13 1969 in Sentul. Karen was giving tuition to the Korean Ambassador's kids in Jalan Pahang and on my insistence, the embassy car brought her back to Jalan Sentul, safe. In the meantime a crowd was already attacking the Sri Jaya buses that plied that route. Then Karen reminded me: What is going to happen to Hamid? Ronnie Hamid, our colleague is the only Malay renting a unit, like us, at Union Flats. I went down the two flights of stairs and went to where the commotion was. Identifying who the leader was, an Indian, I went up to him and told him that a chegu in a fiat PB 1173 would be coming home soon as he too had gone out to give tuition in Jalan Ipoh. This guy, slapped me, broke my spectacles and shouted: Are you Chinese or Malay? and threw a kanda stick for me to use. I still bear the mark of the cut on my right nostrils. Before I could reply another Indian man came up and told him that I was a chegu in La Salle. He apologised profusely but told me to get lost. Thank God Hamid got wind of trouble and never came back. During May 13 we hear of many stories of how Malays and Chinese protected each other. In this current situation and in such a polarised environment I wonder if the same protection will ever take place. I pray it will but I have become very pessimistic of late. RELIGION IS ALWAYS A BONDING,BINDING FORCE. RELIGION TEACHES US TO LOVE ONE ANOTHER. WHICH RELIGION WILL ENCOURAGE FRIENDSHIP TO CEASE? WHICH RELIGION WILL TEAR FAMILIES APART? TODAY, WARS, GENOCIDE, ARE WAGED IN THE NAME OF RELIGION. RELIGION TODAY IS PITTING PEOPLE OF THE SAME RELIGION AGAINST ONE ANOTHER.
A phone called derailed my train of thoughts. The caller reminded me of our date at 8pm in Dataran Merdeka. It was a candlelight vigil for Revathi, who is under re-education. She is thus separated from her husband Suresh and their child is with her parents. A family torn asunder because of religion. It had rained at about 7.30pm. At 8.00pm Joe Xavier, Toney Yew and I and some 300 Malaysians gathered, lit their candles and prayed on their own. There were no organised speeches, no singing.....Malays, Chinese, Indians, Sikhs, Eurasians, Kadazans....all quietly bonding. I met up with many friends but was especially happy to meet up with former colleague Datuk A Vaithilingam, President, Malaysian Hindu Sangam. If you want a faultless definition of a gentleman, that's Vaithi. The police were around. They ensured that the crowd did not spill into the road for their safety. When the clock struck 9.00pm all quietly dispersed, some thanking the police for their presence and assistance. I got back a little of the faith in Malaysians that I thought I had lost in the afternoon. Allow me to leave this prayer for your contemplation and sustenance:

PRAYER OF FRANCIS OF ASSISI

Lord, make me an instrument of your peace,
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
where there is injury, pardon;
where there is doubt, faith;
where there is despair, hope;
where there is darkness, light;
where there is sadness, joy;

O Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console;
to be understood as to understand;
to be loved as to love.

For it is in giving that we receive;
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned;
and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.

ZORRO'S FATHER OF THE YEAR

SHARIFAH AMANI'S DAD, TUAN SYED ZAINAL RASHID

Several imams (but not the imam from Perlis) were at their usual hair/beard-pulling antics when Sharifah Amani took the bald-path for her role in Yasmin Ahmads Muallaf. It was definitely a traumatic thing to sacrifice long flowing locks....always a woman's pride....but she took the bold step because she is a professional. The controversy ensued. Its unislamic this, unislamic that. On the other side of the coin, some of our muslim women are sneered at, ridiculed and shunned if they are non-tudunged. This is perplexing. Somebody enlighten me. These self-serving, holier-than-all-of-us imams might now turn their religious ire at Tuan Syed Zainal Rashid because he too went bald to stand beside his daughter. THAT'S MY MAN! These imams should go bald, yes, no? And discard their long robes, skull caps and goatee beards. No they cannot do that, as these are the accoutrements of office. Without these people will not think them holy and they cannot look holy!
These are all trappings to give the illusion that they are God's chosen. I am made to understand they were APPOINTED by their Sultans and not ANNOINTED by God.

Tuan Syed stood by Sharifah Amani because he is "very happy to see her commitment to her profession. There is a lot of honesty and integrity in her work."

Tuan Syed went on to say: "I am proud of my daughters. I count myself as very lucky to have them. They grew up as sensible people. My children are a gift from God."

Tuan Syed your daughters will go on to me models to their children because you and your wife have nurtured them well with positive values. You said you dont mind boys. If you had them, you too will be proud of them because of who you are.

Sharifah Amani puts it succinctly: He is a guy's guy...a cool guy....both my parents are witty, open-minded and sensible. They are our gatekeepers." (Let me add, GOOD GATEKEEPERS as we have some who steal land from the poor to build a mansion without approval!)

AS SUCH, YOU ARE ZORRO'S CHOICE AS
FATHER OF THE YEAR 2007.

I dedicate these lines to you. It was sent to me this morning by a former student Charles Peters of the Sun (formerly of the Revolvers) who received this same message from his friend Ravindran of Northport: To you Tuan Syed, sir, I dedicated these lines:

He never asks
He never takes
He cares, protects, loves, provides and nurtures
He leads
HE IS DAD.

To all who will be fathers for the first time before this day is over. Happy Fathers Day. Bring up your children the Syed Zainal Rashid's way.

To all imams who are fathers, Happy Fathers Day too...but do smell the coffee....make time for that will ya?

TO ALL MY FRIENDS WHO ARE FATHERS, go get yourself the amber-colored chilled one.
HAVE A GREAT DAY EVERYONE.

DON'T DESECRATE OUR RUKUNEGARA

Kg Jias Orang Asli Church

Demolished Kg Jias Orang Asli Church
(Pics courtesy of Malaysian Unplug & Malaysiakini)

ONE DOWN BUT ONE ALLOWED TO STAND AS TESTIMONY THAT GOD'S HOUSE IS NOT AS IMPORTANT AS AN ILL-GOTTEN MANSION.
LET'S TAKE SOME TIME TO REFLECT ON OUR RUKUNEGARA.

Rukunegara

Malaysia’s national ideology, the Rukunegara was formulated with the purpose to serve as a guideline in the country’s nation-building efforts. The Rukunegara was proclaimed on August 31, 1970 by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong IV.

The pledge of the Rukunegara is as follows:

“Our Nation, Malaysia is dedicated to: Achieving a greater unity for all her people; maintaining a democratic way of life; creating a just society in which the wealth of the nation shall be equitably distributed; ensuring a liberal approach to her rich and diverse cultural tradition, and building a progressive society which shall be oriented to modern science and technology.

We, the people of Malaysia, pledge our united efforts to attain these ends, guided by these principles:

• Belief in God
• Loyalty to King and Country
• Upholding the Constitution
• Sovereignty of the Law, and
• Good Behaviour and Morality”

SAMY DOING A BRENDAN PEREIRA?

(Pic courtesy of Mob's Crib)

SOMEBODY PLEASE TELL ME THIS IS NOT HAPPENING.
WE ARE BEING BRANDED BOLEHLAND, BODOHLAND, BOCORLAND,
FLIPFLOP LAND.
NOW WE ARE BRENDANED COPY-CAT LAND!

This letter was sent by Jason L to Malaysiakini and I picked it up from MalaysiansUnplugged.

I refer to the report Samy pens poem for PM on Works Minister S Samy Vellu allegedly composing an original poem for Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi on occasion of the latter’s wedding.

I would like to bring your readers’ attention to the fact that Samy Vellu has plagiarised this poem. Do you know where he plagiarised the poem from? I reproduce below the original poems from which Samy Vellu had employed a ‘cut and paste’ operation.

From This Day Forward
Author Unknown

From this day forward,
You shall not walk alone.
My heart will be your shelter,
And my arms will be your home

Blessing For A Marriage
by James Dillet Freeman

May your marriage bring you all the exquisite excitements a marriage should
bring, and may life grant you also patience, tolerance, and understanding

May you always need one another - not so much to fill your emptiness as to
help you to know your fullness. A mountain needs a valley to be complete; the
valley does not make the mountain less, but more; and the valley is more a
valley because it has a mountain towering over it. So let it be with you and
you

Now, below is Samy’s alleged poem:

‘From this day forward
You shall not walk alone.
Her heart will be your shelter,
And her arms will be your home.
A mountain needs a valley to be complete;
the valley does not make
the mountain less, but more;
and the valley is more a valley because
it has a mountain towering over it’

Really, how cheap can one get?

IN THE MEXICAN CHAMBER THIS WEEK.

YOU CAN'T GET AWAY WITH SERVING A BRAHMIN CHICKEN (ask MAS) BUT YOU CAN GET AWAY WITH GRABBING LAND FROM THE POOR AND GET STAR BILLING (ask STARMETRO) FOR THE GRAB.

Today, into the Mexican Fart Chambers, I put Star's Wong Chun Wai...but it is his choice to empower the reporter cum photographer Elan Perumal, to replace him.

I have never been a Star reader until lately to protest against NST. I was beginning to enjoy reading Verapandian and Marina's Musings. However, today I might think of migrating again. Not that it will bring down their stocks, but like Marina said we think we are the silent majority because we beleive that.....not anymore though.

Today, STAR glorified the land-grabber, the obnoxious Datuk Zakaria Mat Deros, beloved of the Menteri Besar, and canonised his efforts for doing something for the environment. It is just like raping somebody and then donating a chastity belt to the victim. He was shown "tending" to plants in his garden. Star even reported that this character's love for nature has led him to want to plant a few hundred plants around his soon-to-be-ready house at Kampung Idaman. Is this the same palace that was built without authorisation?
See, HE COULD GET AWAY WITH IT! and the Star has the story.

Hantu perched on my shoulder whispered something cruel into my ears: Zorro, those plants came from the council nursery...some from his machais....few from Port Klang cronies.

Was he really tending to his garden with his wife (are those gardening attire?) or was it a Star's cheap PR promotion shot to fill the space? I just wonder. Everyday has its mysteries. The stunts some people pull to sell papers. Twinke (Star) whilst you can while the Sun gives you the ability to.

Question: Is the Star so impoverished news-wise that it has to choose so loosely?Tiew!

NOW WE ARE FLIP-FLOP LAND!

BY THE LOOK OF THINGS WE ARE MAKING PROGRESS....INCREMENTALLY CLIMBING FROM BOLEHLAND, TO BODOHLAND AND ACHIEVING NOTHING LESS THAN BOCORLAND. AND NOW THIS APPENDAGE!

On Sunday afternoon, Tun Abdul Majid was told to lead the Prosecuting team in the murder trial of Mongolian Altantuya Shaaribuu. an eleventh-hour brainwave from the AG Department. When asked to explain he brushed the query off with "I am not privy to this." The Attorney General was asked why the flip-flop on prosecuting team replied: "I have nothing to say. Thank You." Coming from the Top Cat, this is disconserting. This is definitely not transparent. The people, the world need to know. DOESN'T HE REALIZE THAT THE MALAYSIAN JUDICIARY IS ON TRIAL? The world watcheth. And just after our DPM assured international fund managers and the Singapore Government over the Iskandar Development, that there will be no more flip-flops. The number of changes is comedic and a defense lawyer withdrew because of interference from a third part. Gee, this is thrilling. Expect more flip-flops from TANAH FLIP-FLOP. The Minister of Tourism should take the cue and invite all international best-selling crime-thriller authors into town for front-seat experience of how we do things in Flip-flop land. I rest my case and discharge myself from further comments.
